DIY Concrete Countertop Trials And Tribulations
I've been using a temporary countertop in my house which was made of plywood. And I'm replacing it with a custom concrete countertops. The new countertops will not only look nicer but they will be much easier to clean. New countertops isn't the only thing I'm adding to the kitchen either. I also made another small storage cabinet and made a pan hanger for the wall. there's still more to do for the kitchen but its probably going to cost another 800$ish so I gotta save a little more money first. Ill be putting the rest of the kitchen on hold because winter is coming and i still really need a working hot shower. so that's my next priority now that my kitchen is slightly more functional.

I love your videos. I've been watching you on Instagram, came here.
"Actually nothing was straight here " 😅 🤣🤣
Mosquito net on the ends of the tubes!
Like your simple and easy to understand video for beginners. Thank you.
always watch a JankLabs video
Nice fire box
If money is a problem, there are a lot of videos on UA-cam on how to gather your own fed for your chickens completely for free.
Your problem with the concrete countertops was that concrete is strong under compression, not under torsion. You need something to act as a skeleton sitting inside of the concrete to help it resist cracking and breaking. People usually use rebar. I'm glad to see that you stuck with it and ended up with a nice final result! Hopefully the wood that you poured it over will work as a support for it and completely take care of the torsion issue. Keep going! Trying is better than never doing anything at all. And done is always better than fussing over perfection and never finishing!
What are the dimensions of the shack you've got there? My shed is a 12x12 with a 16x16 roof including the overhang, thanks!
If it gets cold there u really not suppose to have them outside unless u got a light on them until they get older
wait whats the long term plan for making money? or is it full grow your own food style homesteading?
On the perimeters put either around coop or fence <- preferably dig down around the perimeter bury wide chicken fencing to keep out the hole diggers. 3' is good. Severely slows down skunks, raccoons, foxes, ferrets, stray dogs, etc. Attach one side to the bottom of the existing fence all around. Don't want to dig at least lay flat continuously all around, including the gate area. Weeds will grow through and toughen if left on the top of ground. Should save heart ache if completed.
They seem vulnerable to snakes and weasels at the moment.
Dude I don't know how to get hold of you

This is my husband and my dream. We habe been promising his friends that once we get the land each person can come and build their own home.
Hey man, I think you did pretty great, if you still want to go for something more smooth and level, maybe you can try pouring food safe resin as a thin layer on top, it will give it a more glossy marble like look aswell and will set down smooth. I also think you should start each video with a small intro, mentioning that you turned a small shack to a house without any budget or DIY experience , this really sets you apart from all other offgrid/homesteading vids. Also, def announce your UA-cam uploads on instagram, thats where I found you and I didnt really realize you got a youtube channel
Thank you for not putting a rain catch system of a shingle roof. I see so many people doing this and i tell them evey time that shingles have some hardcore chemicals, metal is the way to go.
I appreciate your channel because it’s nice to see someone doing everything themselves on a low budget and not having it be pinterest perfect. When looking for videos of shed converted tiny home type situations, everything I find seems to have budgets that are high enough that these people might as well be putting a down payment on a normal house. I just need a functional living space on a low budget.
Nice !
Would recommend Sheetrock or plywood for a 16 x 16 metal shed?
Pretty soon you're going to need more totes~!
I like what you're doing but all that exposed plywood will rot in time you have to weather treat it
people have decades old sheds around here with osb plywood walls. so im not worried about it
for he dump load wire it into a water heater, dump the load and get hot water.
This honestly looks kinda fun, gives me an idea for a few years from now if i cant find an actual house lol
I wanted to tell you that Temu has sheds for under $100 bucks. You can afford one
Are you working some kind of job or doing odd jobs to make money? Or do you have some savings?
What was the total approximate price for the full installation? >2k?
What not install a 220v subpanel in the shack with 120v breakers for whatever your powering?
Cute cat walkway
I think its wonderful!
Shits cool bro, do more videos if you could!
Reminds me of a treehouse for grownups... and I'm here for it!
Keep the updates and good vibes going
Youre doing a great job! Only thing I was thinking id of done differently was when you had the floor up so you could add insulation, I would have laid down a vapor barrier. Simply thick, 3 or 4 mill plastic sheeting, one piece, down across the entire floor and then the insulation. Any cracks or holes left exposed id of filled with spray foam.
There is no doubt that you will choose a more reliable one.
woodprix includes very useful instructions with all details I need
I hope he gets a carbon monoxide detector, Diesel ??? I hope it doesn't kill ya
All us trained tradesman watching this - Are you guys sure you want to attempt to build an underground home? 😂
I knew you conduit!
my goodness this one made my eye twitch. Keep doing you I guess
have you ever made a solar array before?
This just proves that the guy didn't ask anyone with brains to help him. It works but it's stupid. Put the solar panels closer to the shack and take the loss on sunlight and save the hassle of replacing the failed electronics every so many years and the unreliability of the complications.
Have you ever made a solar array before?
@@janklabs I have 30 years experience in industrial instrumentation and process control maintenance. Have you done that? I can install complicated stuff, troubleshoot it, make it work properly and fix it when it breaks. Show me the math and then figure in replacement costs of your Chinese junk.
I like your motivation to DIY, and your resolve to figure things out. Having said that, why did you put those components in a box next to your solar panels? Why not just have the needed components located at the house, with only the wire for the panels run to it? Add a shutoff switch at the panels and you're GTG. An 8 awg wire pair would be sufficient at long distances to get the power to your solar charge controller. Maybe 2 pair if you have more than one group of panels.
theres a lot to explain why i didnt go that route. maybe i should make a full video on it
I build the machines that put the Romex on the small spool like you have from the big 72” spools.
I'm confused, are there different channels posting these videos?
janklabs is op
If you would have upsized your wire or ran parallel pairs you wouldnt have a voltage drop. Just fyi
Bigger wire would be way more expensive
Seems like a lot of trouble vs moving the panels closer.
Why are the panels so far away?
It’s where they get the longest amount of sun
@@SaidAlSeveres Do some math and convince me that what he did was better. Not likely.
I could do the math. That would be a cool video
Cold mud and paint? Hmm.
Nice one. You should make a frame that keeps the bottom panels out of the weeds. A little bit of shade can make a big difference to the power output of the panels.
How do three 1x4s cost more than a door?
