Southerners wean their babies on sweet tea.
38:26-38:38 Ms. Boyd is speaking quilting, "when you jury in" and the sound goes out. Is there a way to find out what was said? Thank you.
Thank you for the notation about Maysville. I have German ancestors that came in the mid 1800's and came to Ohio then over to Maysville and made there way up to Northern Kentucky settling in southern Campbell County.
Thanks for watching!
MY GAWD...you call yourselves gardeners and you can't identify a KOLRABBI????
@SuperWoodyboy Sorry to disappoint you with the lack of knowledge. Not all planters plant vegetables. I exclusively plant flowers and only venture into veggies for a few basics.
I am a "transplant" from Maryland to WV 4yrs ago, and I have learned so much about this topic from my neighbors. When to start your ferments, when to plant what, etc. Fascinating stuff❤ I also raise alpacas, and sure enough...there's a reference to when to breed. If you breed during the waxing phase of the moon, you're very likely to have female offspring! Waning = male(obviously)😂 This has held up so far on my farm!
Thanks so much for commenting about the reference to breed. We barely touch on this topic during our webcasts so I was thrilled to see your comment and insight. Thanks for watching!
Just learned about this from Denise yesterday - OMG, this is amazing!
Rosann, you are a huge asset to Dahlonega. I am happy to see this! You have done a lot of work.
So interesting!!!!❤
She is and has always been! Even in grade school she was a leader. I’m so thankful to call her my friend for 50+ years. Insanely smart too.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
That’s my childhood best friend and friend forever!! Love Rosann Kent!!!
Rosann is very special!
Ditto!
Sandy, Do you have a copy of the paper you showed?
The March Calendar or the "man"?
This was an awesome video! I remember those calendars in my grandma's house and had no idea until now what it was. She had a new one every year. I hope I can catch the next month's video live. Just followed Rosann on Instagram.
I am glad you enjoyed it! I can't wait to see your garden this year.
Thanks for the follow! The calendar is such a great artifact to represent Appalachia and other rural areas. It's in our collective memory even if we don't know exactly what they were.
Wow so many good points in the introduction. I love that you didn't learn from your ancestors but realized you needed to learn from a person rather than a book. You need that question and answer ability. Also a great point that not all of the Appalachian areas will do it the same....we have different growing zones and different pools of immigrant ancestors.
Thanks so much for the kind words!
Love the fiddle and dulcimer on the wall.....perfect ways to spend the time watching the plants grow.
Thanks for your help with that dulcimer :)
This video has a nice lead in picture but is very short. Must be a teaser!
Super cute!
The economic map isn't even close in Virginia it doesn't even have all of the Valley counties included. There are a good 15 counties in north west VA that are considered Appalachia not listed there. The geology map is pretty close to what Virginians know as Appalachia. It goes a tiny bit too far east but it's certainly better than the economic map. The Blueridge/Appalachian Mt goes all the way to Charlottesville but all the northern Blueridge counties are left off. From that map Walker Mountain (The Waltons tv show base) isn't even considered Appalachia, I can not agree with that. The reason this map leaves those off because they have prospered more, I understand that, but they still embrace the Appalachian culture and ways of life. I think that equals Appalachia more than the economics do.
The Valley Counties chose to not be a part of Appalachia, in particular, a part of the Appalachian Regional Committee. That is why the valleys in Virginia are not included. This includes the Shenandoah Valley along with counties such as Bedford and cities such as Charlottesville. They decided to not be included in Appalachia. This was not an exclusion by me.
@@ancestryroads It;s a shame to ignore your roots....I know it wasn't you, but didn't realize they chose that....pity!
This was a wonderful webcast! Great interviewer and guest! Yes, the reflection room brings tears nearly every time.
Thanks so much for watching! I loved showcasing the museum.
World Crown Job! I love it! Thank you for putting together something so cool!
Gresat job, cousins!
❤
Love it!!!
Loved the video and music! ❤
Thanks so much for your help and support!
How many miles did you drive on the trip?
Great question! I know it was over 1k
I'm starving! Everything looks so good!
Awesome! Report back on the haunted mansion...and adorable Airdale (is that right, the dog? Cute!)
This is great! I love your videos. I think I might have been a little creeped out in the coalmine... Great Glamping!
They kept double checking and asking if we were ok. They didn't want us to hyperventilate 😱
@@ancestryroads oh I can imagine! Wild! With so many stories of a collapse, I'd wonder like anyone I would think.
I want to stay there.
Yo. Ancestry! yo!best trip, ;))
Impressive steel.
I love it! Very cool!
Awesome! Tomorrow it is!

Too bad everyone didn't migrate back to their original homes..The native tribes would still have their country.
We have upcoming content that talks about the native tribes in/around Appalachia. Thanks for the comment.
If you're going to call out Steve Earle's Hillbillie Highway , then also Dwight Yokum's Reading , Writing , and Route 52 .. US 52 passed thru Southern WV and along the border of Eastern Kentucky . Origionally they travelled north to Columbus , Indianalolis , and Chicago . Later on when the Rust Belt was declining , would also travel South to Greensboro , Charlotte , and Winnston - Salem in North Carolina , which were growing in the '70s and '80s . And didn't hurt that the culture shock was less .
I agree and love Dwight. Thanks for the comment.
Awesome! Love the automated way to create cemetery cats. Thanks so much!
Watch out for Mothmen and The Flatwoods aliens !
Most definitely! I will probably go the back way to Webster County and skip the Flatwoods Interstate exit just to avoid the aliens. I can't be captured by aliens before I fish the Mighty Elk again. 🙄
This looks like fun, can't wait to see where you take us!
This is an excellent video Sandy! Thank you to both you and Rusty. What a wealth of information!
This is awesome! Thank you so very much for your time and demo!
Great video! Many thanks to all involved creating this awesome tool :)
Thanks for the video, Sandy. By the way: WikiTree BEE also creates a lot nicer citations for Find A Grave than just a plain link, if you click the BEE icon while being on the single grave page.
Thanks, Sandy! This looks great and will save so much time.
Interesting info. I am a Fugate
Michele, I would love to do a Webcast on the Fugates.
This has been fascinating - thank you, Dr. McCawley! I will treat my respirator with more respect. I don’t need it often, but when I need it, it’s there.
I knew his dad, great guy. I also worked at Itman #3
Thanks for watching and commenting. Also, thank you for your work as a WV Coal Miner.
Very informative video. Thank You.
