Thank you for sharing this presentation. It’s very informative. As a Dual Language Immersion Teacher, I see bilingual students mostly being treated as ESLA learners assuming there is always an L1. This is done for admissions, progress monitoring, benchmarks, SPED evaluations. Dr. De Houwer does an excellent job at showing us there is so much variability in BFLA and ESLA. This should be discussed more often in elementary DLI.

Why am I me??? I think it is phenomenally miraculous that of all the creatures I could have been, let alone the miracle of being living life, I am an intelligent, healthy human, with amazingly good parents, living now at the very, very earliest point in time in the universe, living in a lucky situation, in a nice part of a civilized country, with good health care, and good kind friends. The chances of acquiring this from 13.7 billion years of evolution is phenomenally low!!! Lucking back in time all fates seem highly improbable though!!! But I sometimes, due to the miracle of existence, almost seriously wonder about the philosophy of 'Solipisim' ( not sure of spelling ). There is a grain of truth in this belief, that our experiences really are 'OUR' experiences according to the Austrian philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein ( 1889 - 1951 ). His friend Betrand Russell ( 1872 - 1970 ) said "What about the case of a solipisist ( not sure of spelling ) who went to a solipisim class but was surprised there weren't more members.

I remember going to take out 'The Ascent Of Man' by Dr. J Bronowski ( 1908 - 1974 ) to understand Einstein's famous 'Theory of Relativity' so I could build a time machine!!! I was thick then, but I was happy!!!

Actually I don't know how clever my last comment was!!! It will be thought about by very clever people. I could never get a Ph.d in physics. I am not a true expert on anything!!! But I am knowledgeable and factual. But I think I may have a problem with how vastly egotistical I am!!!

I know that our minds are physically linked to the universe. We can only imagine other people's lives and minds, as we are in space-time, our minds and lives, the only phenomenon we are capable of truly knowing and experiencing. Even our dreams and imagings are part of physical brain computation which is part of the universe as we as physical enteties are a part of the ever moving space-time universe.

Reminds me of the happy days I spent at Jodrell Bank Vistor's Centre. There is nothing more admirable than a decent person doing well for themselves!!! Great Communicator Dr Maggie Aderin Pocock, and she seems lovely as well!!! I only wish I had dreams and fantasies, but even as a kid they weren't that strong!!!
