Young people are nominated for Firebreak for a variety of reasons, e.g. low self-esteem, confidence, being bullied or being bullies, on the brink of exclusion from school, or if theyre just generally struggling within the school environment the aim being to offer them the opportunity through reflective learning to make alternative choices in life. They respond well to the use of firefighters as role models; one of the major benefits of the programme.
