i think the Scottish guy says it - the sound was minimalist , there was an important message which needs saying & it was inclusive. I love & hate in equal measure the ‘ is it Punk ‘ or “ they aren’t Punk “comment which pervades almost every Punk if not Counterculture concerned video. I never understood if or how much of this is literally Elitist or Puritanical when delivered by those considering themselves as necessary Gatekeepers or Hardliners & would love any books specifically covering this angle of the genre or lifestyle.

Saw Adam and the ants at Newcastle city hall,about 81 i think,i was 11 or 12,my first ever gig,loved em,they were brilliant. 🎸🎸❤️❤️

our next door neighbour Charlie was a skinny retired elderly Postman whom had been held captive in SE Asia during WW2 but his timing was still split second because on a hot afternoon in 1986 I’d blasted my recording from Radio 1s previous Festive 50 of their song Revolution out of our open windowed council semi which concludes with the angry “ stop taking orders from his masters’ voice “ ..but on this occasion got followed with an immediate very angry “ turn that fucking noise down !! ” i sat there wondering how I’d missed this before …then saw Charlie holding his clippers - then didn’t know whether to tell him to Fuck Off or respect his wishes being we shared the same building….🙄

If a band whom i can’t recall didn’t cancel their appearance on Top Of The Pops , Sultans of Swing by a pub rock band would’ve dropped from its peak of No.27 or whatever & listening to Wave 105 at work throughout the 90s & 00s wouldn’t have been so tiresome….

Thankyou for your efforts in getting Mr Pirroni involved so’s we can all enjoy his recollections & make sense of the back story of those times & the characters who were so fundamental in our lives if you were around then . Adam must’ve benefited from having a direct or grounded guy in the band like him whether he (Adam) appreciates it now or not right now. He didn’t mention Glitter Band re twin drummers - they did leave Mr Gadd after all …😃👍

kids today can’t possibly grasp how when Marco or old folk say how things changed month by month - if he specifically meant pop music it’s incredible to think how in the period 1955 to 1990 multiple base genres of popular music would appear every 4 or 5 years .

What a great interview, massive influence in my growing up both Adam and the ants and Madness, I was to young for the punk scene but got into it later, but what a nice guy!

I met Caroline Munro at a convention in Bournemouth in Feb 2014 (only one I've ever been to). I was ridiculously shy to meet her. She was an absolute diamond and signed 2 photos, Wonderful lady and seemed to love working with the great Rog of Moore. Damn, she was gorgeous in her films.

Great interview and what a character. Going back to Adam & The Ants, I have an archive of photographs from my local newspaper and among them some of Adam and Marco visiting Aylesbury's CBS record pressing factory in Oct 1980. Adam is wearing black leather trousers and a teeshirt whilst Marco wears a woolly jumper tucked into a pair cords. What a contrast!

Adam and the Ants lit something up inside my five year old brain. Kings was the first album I bought at that age. I remember seeing Marco in Gossips when I usewd to DJ there on a Wednesday night at a club night called 'For Your Pleasure' back in the mid-90s. Wish I'd spoken to him then. I shared a cab with Adam years later after he performed at Steve Strange's 'The Face' club night where he pulled my mate and I never saw either of them again 🤣 Love Marco. His music and movie tastes are so in-tune with mine. Must be a Taurus thing :D

I think I've watched all of Marco's recent, and fairly recent interviews. I hope and pray there's a light-bulb moment with Adam. It's the twilight of both their careers. They need to draw any line in the sand, & collaborate together again, whilst they still have time. Adam's 70! Just do us all a favour & get back together.. Don't be square, (be There) etc, etc. 🙂
