Summer 2024 Mind Matters: Helping Our Loved Ones With a Serious Mental Illness
Helping our Loved Ones with Serious Mental Illness: A Session focused on Legal Support and Housing.
Crafting a personalized roadmap if you're living with a mental illness, or for your loved one grappling with the illness, demands resilience, diligent research, access to information, and optimism. In this Mind Matters series we will focus on setting up legal support and an overview on housing for those living with a serious mental illness. Expert and author Nicole Gillen, who is also a caregiver, wrote “Schizophrenia & Related Disorders: A Handbook for Caregivers” to help those affected by mental illness navigate one’s needs. Nicole’s book equips you with essential information such as covering issues from initial diagnosis to long-term care, offering insights to navigate the complexities of SMI caregiving, or serving as a reliable reference guide.

Psychotropic meds r chemical pacifiers (i.e.: designed 2 silence u when getting abused, bullied, & harassed by others; especially those deemed as authority figures). As a result psychotropic meds r NOT TREATMENT; THEY R A FORM OF PUNISHMENT!!!!!

That was positive, and almost got to the root of it. Family and love can really resolve many issues, drugs can be temporary solutions that require social mending when depressed or stopped, in order to reinstate them in to our family order or social order at that.

Not everyone needs medication. You are funded heavily by pharmaceutical companies. These medications are dangerous. If you’re not mentally ill, you don’t need these medications. Withdrawals are HORRIFIC and they misdiagnose withdrawals as mental illness getting worse. This really just sounds like bs. Talk about AKATHISIA & TD ALREADY!

So let me get this strait. All I here through this video is psychiatric medications treat the symptoms by stimulating, blocking, or destroying neuron transmitters in the brain (And the side affects are the same on other parts of the body that essentially make it like trying to kill a snake that's going to kill your brother by using a shotgun. So you blow your brothers leg off in the process to kill the snake - that sounds like a winning plan.). So that means these meds cannot treat the problem? Why is a person depressed or psychotic or excessive compulsive, or lacks basic coping skills? How about helping them understand that they have made some really pour life choices like hanging on to unresolved anger, regrets, jealousy, revengeful thoughts, worry, unforgiveness, bitterness, and the list goes on. Where's the pill for that? How about helping them overcome pore parenting from parents who failed to disciple their child and the school medicates them to keep them from being disruptive in class. How about teaching people how to forgive those who have wronged them or ask for forgiveness from those they have wronged. How about helping them understand their weaknesses and their strengths and how to migrate to their strengths so they can thrive. Rather than giving them a pill every morning, make them get out of bed and go for a long walk and let's just talk about love, about life and if you really want freedom from all that stuff, let's talk about Jesus and how He can do for you what you cannot do for yourself.

Alcohol actually has much of the same affect as psychiatric medication. In heavy doses, alcohol is just about as destructive. If you're dealing with issues, I would suggest you look to Jesus. He is bout life transformation to make you look more like HIm. It's not an easy life but it is the most rewarding as their are eternal consequences one way or the other. Hope you find help.

@@RealRadNek Ok. Nvrthlss; I stand by what I've said. I was on 30+ different psych meds (starting w/Ritalin @ age 4 in 1971) ovr a 40+ yr period b4 becoming psych med-free since 1/1/2017. Also; coming from a family whose parents r an "only child" from their respective families whereas I have an older sibling happens 2 b the crux of my issues. Drug Addiction Rehab For highly addicted persons on toxic narcotics, including overdose and general substance abuse. And including for rehab as well as for general medicinal or recreational use, Now what this entails is that.... Regular cigarettes fillings of tobacco should be infused or mixed with a slight or wee bit of weed or marijuana along with mint cloves and cardamom. Now, what will this achieve..? 1.) This would fulfill the body's craving for narcotic substance and the subsequent release of whatever enzyme activity. 2.) The mint cloves and cardamom at the same time mitigate and reduce to some extent including inhibition of overdose and cravings of other toxic narcotic substances or drugs. 3.) Mint cloves cardamom also fulfill a physiological need of some fulfilling food and aroma therapy of relaxing senses and calming down the raked up nerves, so to speak. -------- While this may seem as a promotion of different substance addiction, but as the old saying goes, A thorn can be easily pulled out by another thorn. Many might object to this rehab method, but factually, There are absolutely no easy solutions to get away from drug addictions, Especially none so easy, cheaper on the pocket, and effective as my method. Now, with the mixture of tobacco ingredient as nicotine and marijuana, the person is weaned away from the drug addiction to a lesser or less potent, one. As such in progression, the person can further be slowly again weaned from the mixture to a pure tobacco one of purely smoking.... Cigarettes....😎👍 And then, Steady as she goes....😎

NAMI: Nearly 75 Percent of Donations from Pharma Medically reviewed by Scientific Advisory Board - Written by John M. Grohol, Psy.D. on October 22, 2009 As we noted in April, NAMI gets a significant portion of its funding from pharmaceutical companies. We had to guess at what that percentage was, however, because the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) refused to detail their pharmaceutical grants and donations in their annual reports and IRS filings.

Heroin withdrawal would be a walk in the park compared to Cymbalta. I’m not as angry as I was but we have a very serious problem in society and it’s happening right under our noses. The most dangerous person to get you off these things is your Doctor. Do not under any circumstances go to your Doctor for advice on getting off these highly addictive drugs. @@brendansmyth5053 I just wrote you a long response and while I was editing it, got deleted. I know your post is a year old, but still. Just wanted you to know you're not alone. I was almost killed by these drugs and am a father. My son had to watch me go through all of this. He had to watch this growing up. I'll try to come back to this. Have to go out now. Don't know if you're reading this even. What they are doing to people is criminal, these pill pushers for "Pig" Pharma. Criminal and all about profit. Profit over human lives. Disgusting. Now they're even damaging the brains and bodies of young children with these drugs. Criminals. Should be in jail. People have committed suicide and homicide while suffering the brain damage from these drugs. Lost their money, their children, marriages, jobs...had to go on permanent disability. I know all about it. But they always deny they had any responsibility. ALWAYS.
