That was brilliant, I love Hull fair, what a pity those original terraced houses on Walton street have gone. Thanks to you and your mum for the films.

I twagged school for a week to work at Hull Fair, looking after the worlds smallest horse for the worlds smallest man which basically was a Shetland pony owned by an alcoholic dwarf who spent too much time in The George on the corner of Walton Street.

Great film record. I was there in '73 as a young teen. Every time I hear Elton John's Crocodile Rock, I think of the waltzer at Hull Fair.

I enjoyed the contrast between then and now, although years apart the fair has managed to keep hold of many traditions which have been captured in this video. Great to see the original videographer at the end too ❤

I would deffo have been at the fair...with parents..in 73. I would have been 12. It was a magical, weird and slightly threatening place..smelling of burgers ,hot dogs and onions. What times they were.

Such wonderful memories of the excitement of saving up pocket money for Hull Fair. The walk from Bricknell Ave down Chanterlands. I was 10 in 1965 and my father who was in Hull fire brigade would be on fire duty. The smells of hot dogs, burgers and stalls with pomegranates and coconuts. Oh happy days and nights. ❤

We used to walk from Bricknel Ave very evocative. I have been wondering about someone I knew around 1985-87 Pippa Laws who worked in a shop outside Hull Grammar. We exchanged letters when she moved to London but lost touch. I saw your name and thought it was worth asking if you are by any chance related?

@@barrytraversen2850 sorry, no. Laws is my married name and I left Hull in 1971. I did have a friend though, who's parents ran the Marrowbone and Cleaver pub. Also my brother attended the grammer school. Life was so much fun in those days. Kelvin Hall was my senior school. William Patterson (Bill) was the headmaster,
