Peter Field (here on UA-cam) has one of the best level design overview videos I’ve seen, and GDC has tons of great talks on the topic too. Great progress!! It’s coming along so nicely and that music is so great
Did you set shaders in blender or unreal?
In Godot, I‘d always do it in engine, not in Blender
so cute i hope everything goes well and wishlisted!!!!
Love how you are able to combine a simple artstyle, advanced coding and funky music into such a sweet game. I'm so excited to see where this project takes you!
I really like your inspiration of Mario Sunsine :D Especially these secret levels were the greatest part of the game imo ^^ Also the movement already looks very fun to play!
Yes, level design is the hardest paaaart ._. the music sounds funky! And I said it before and I will say it again: there are so many cool and juicy features already, I'm really excited for pebble!
100% agree with the leveldesign part :D

So much polish this video! I need to figure out that step thing. Good luck with your level!!
I always KNEW rocks could manipulate time
underrated channel honestly, this is so good
6:55 what app is this ??
Goodnotes :)
8:56 I’m looking UP to these new Dev Logs
Looks like a fun game! I'm curious if you were able to achieve a similar look to your original project in Godot? I'm working on a project and would love to replicate that style, but just can't seem to get the lighting settings right!
@@mulberrytg Thanks! Sure, shouldn’t be that hard. I believe Godot already kind of has that style built in; just search for a toon shader and you’ll find plenty of resources!
i love you !
Looking great!
Everything is coming together in a really neat way! Also love the animations!
Thanks so much, I'm slowly getting there😅
The wallbump looks so snappy!
The love for detail 😩🫶 also, the animations you did in procreate dreams look amazing ❤
I'm going crazy not being able to remember what the music is from at 6:13 , somebody help please
Tunic... UGH.
@@ninomojo yes, it‘s in the description as well🤓
This is inspiring, very cool! A little note if I may: if your character squishes when jumping and landing, it won't feel like a rock. I think at some point if that matters to you you should find another way to enrich the animation. :)
Why don't you reuse the art style from your original game? It honestly looked way better.
I don’t like it as much anymore :/
Ok, I wishlisted it, hope that helps. But I think your player character is not cute enough for mass appeal. Did you ever try Blockbench?
Thanks! Not yet, but it looks interesting🤔
Pleease make the rolling holdable, i wanna roll downhill as a cute time controlling rock
I like to see game development. I am also an indie developer, but of 2D games. Well, I found your channel through this video. It's great to see something coming to life, no matter what game it is. What I want to say is that I have some ideas that could make your game richer. I would like you to look at the game (It Takes Two). There is a specific level where the character Cody gains a watch with the ability to change time on certain occasions. He can alter the flow of time, going back frame by frame, as if you were controlling a VIDEO, a RECORDING, going forward by speeding up the frames, or going back by slowing down the frames. As he does this, the other character can use those "debris" as platforms. Another game that has two-time simulations is (Hogwarts Legacy). When using the spell (REPARO), everything starts going back in time and reconstructing as if it were (rewinding a video). Additionally, it has the spell ("Arresto Momentum") that makes everything go in slow motion. Since your game has a stone that manipulates time, think about everything that TIME can do: slowing down, speeding up, rewinding time, among other things. Seek references in other games that use (time) systems as an ability and how it is applied. Moreover, adding visual effects like glow, fog, some particles that visually indicate to the player that part is under the effect of a time manipulation ability will make the game much more lively. Another suggestion I would like to make is if, besides the character manipulating time, he can also manipulate some stones. Imagine these stones floating around him, and he uses these stones to create small platforms in certain places, among other things that could be done with stones. This would make the mechanics and originality of the game even richer. Your character slightly reminds me of (Kirby). Although I love Kirby very much, this stone character can still be made even more beautiful and original. I believe you can make it even more pleasant and original. Another suggestion is to have life in the environment, such as small insects, birds, leaves in the wind, particles in the air. This makes the world come alive as well. Well, that's it. I sincerely hope you consider my words. Much success with your game!
Thanks for your ideas! Many of them are already planned but it's awesome to see that other people like you find them interesting as well. Your ideas for the environment are very good; I'll keep them in mind when I keep working on the visuals for the game. Thanks again! :)
Pebble is made of similar material to the crystals, what of rather than simply having the crystals float above his head when he is holding them they are incorporated into him and change his appearance.
Oh yeah, that's the plan. Currently I only let the blue crystal float because I haven't finished the visuals for them yet. Just so that the player can see whether they are holding a crystal or not. Better than just a text or something I think.
The splinter system looks really cool. I'm excited to see what game play you build around it. The death transition is nice too, very charming.

yes but I recommend that everyone should not quit their job, best bet is to work and fund your dream game that way it will be slow but it wont place you on unnecessary stress zone and you could even form a team/studio
like the design
Wishlisted!
Me and a couple friends are also working on a game about a solar eclipse.
Great work! Keep up the battle
The link to the background music in the description is broken. Great video btw. Tried to wishlist the game but it just brings me to the steam home page
Thanks for pointing it out. Should be fixed now.
@@Wardius All working now, thanks for fixing
1:05 stylized, very cool art style. simple and absolutely manageable by a solo dev. 2:12 oh god no, sorry. the later results in the cave look okay, but also kind of boring. And it will take a lot of time to texture everything. The flat shaded environment really has something to it. Sure it can be labled as lazy, but it can also create really beautiful environments. Games like Ooblets, Moving Out, Townscraper really rocking the flat and vibrant color look.
You make some great points. Thanks for your feedback!
cool things here, good luck!!
Man you never think of how much time and effort goes into a game when playing it, even if it’s a short 10 minute game, or a Long 10 HOUR game, I loved pebble and a Remake would be really cool.
I reallyyyy like the whole splinter system, looks really fun and promising!
neat
i love games like this, cant wait to play!
Du machst das man. Viel Glück!
gutes video, hoffe wirst mehr auf diesem kanal machen :)
good luck on your indie dev journey!
So very excited to see your passion for the project. Wishing you all the best of luck.
Very interesting game and devlog. I like the relaxed style of your narration.
Looks promising. But I would ditch the stretching and squeezing I personally don't feel they match the hard surface of a stone and make it look more like Kurby.
what a charming little game. interested in seeing more. how are you able to finance this decision to quit your full time job? Also an idea I had for the roll mechanic. You could make it so that you build up momentum when rolling for a greater distance or down a slope, and when at a certain speed you're able to break a wall or something to progress the level. this could lead to fun level design.
thank you! i‘m doing some freelance work on the side and receive a lot of help from my partner :) awesome idea, thanks!
Cool! Are you german? Or whrere do you come from?
i am! seems like i can‘t hide my german accent well enough😂
