I was going to try out Eric's tallow soaps too, but they want nearly $40 in shipping costs alone on ETSY, nearly double the cost of the shave cream. So that idea went the way of the dinosaur.
@@garys_shave $40 for shipping..?😳
Well done Robert, thanks for the discount. I'm interested in Cajune soaps. Tallow has always made me happy 😃
@@riccardorasaturatradizionale You’re welcome brother! The Cajun Blade soaps are fantastic! And so are Subtle Art soap Co.’s! 👍🏼
Nice shave Rob! I finished up a razor case on the 30th
@@lawrence1md Nice! Is it anything like the one you have on your wall in your videos? I like that one it’s pretty cool
@ it’s different. Might have to do a video. I posted on instagram
@@lawrence1md wouldn’t mind seeing that.👍🏼
Great shave Rob! You're so much better at shaving the goatee area then I am :)
@@SeanG8282 Thanks Sean! You only shaved yours once or did you do it twice?
@@RobertPascale I've only shaved it once so far lol I really need to practice again, but I don't want to slow down my scar healing process either by introducing more damage to the skin.
@ I wouldn’t mess around until everything’s healed but luckily it’s something that grows back quickly so you can always do it or not do it whenever you want. That’s the nice part.
Great shave Rob! Congrats on accepting Sean's challenge. If you find a special, good sized coticule at Matt's, let me know. I'm on the hunt. My contact info is in the "About" section of my channel.
Nice shave Rob. That edge was on point. Had to be HHT8+++ lvl 5.5+ 44 magnum. Thanks for the mention and glad you enjoy my soaps. Have a good weekend bud
@@Eric_TheCajunBlade Thanks Eric! 😂 Pretty sure I made it to HHT9 on this one!🤪 That’ll never get old!🤣 Eric, you know I love your soaps and that new pre-/post shave balm is THE 💣!! Can’t wait to see that one on your Etsy store! You have a good weekend as well and be safe out there. You have a vintage SR challenge to do when you get back.. 😉👍🏼
Yeah it looks like you got the chin area already mastered as well, oh well time to go back to the goatee, have fun looking 10 years older 😱😂 those sistrum razors are something else
@@seanstapelfeld 🤣 best part about facial hair is, if you chop it off, it just grows right back! I’m currently undecided. I’ve been enjoying the extra SR shaving real estate😂 And I would have to agree, Eric made a good choice when he first showed us these Sistrum NOS razors!👍🏼
@ You look better without it, just saying 🤷🏼♂️😂
@ well maybe I’ll keep shaving it off who the hell knows… the world is my oyster Sean!😂
Looked like a real comfy shave. Gotta love Griffith. I wish I lived near that shop I’d be in there every week lol.

@@nonamebear1136 Exactly! 😅
Beautiful razor Rob! Man I would be so broke if I lived near Matt like you do 😂
@@SeanG8282 yeah I’ve definitely dropped some money with him😅 I find myself these days limiting myself when I go see him so I don’t overspend! I only bring enough money to pay for the things I’m looking at so I’m not tempted to buy seven other things while I’m there😂
Beautiful stone! Those are two things I wouldn’t mind trying out. I keep looking at the 14s, but they’re always a bit out of budget. Maybe I’ll get lucky someday.
@@Johnny-Five Thanks Johnny! I had the chance to try out Sean's coti super curve edge. It was really keen smooth. I'll be testing out Noname Bear's edges here in a few days. I'm digging your channel! Happy shaving and honing 😁
@@Johnny-Five Thanks Johnny! Robert‘s going to be sending me one of his edges as well to check out! Definitely enjoying trying other people‘s edges! Gives you something to gauge your edges against! I’ve also been enjoying your channel! I need to get caught up on some of your videos 👍🏼 I’ve watched several, but basically I’ll end up running through your whole channel 😅 lol
The horn scales RA puts on his razors are amazing. I caught a video here on UA-cam of his whole shop with him giving a tour plus making razors. He’s got this laser machine that cuts his scales that’s really cool. I need to get a RA razor they always get really good reviews.
@@Johnny-Five The first time I honed this straight razor, I was done in 20 minutes. It was ridiculously sharp and not one issue. I’m thinking about getting another one! i’ve really started growing partial to square toe edges and I already have two different ones in mind. Just comes down to how much I feel like spending. As usual..lol
Love the shave piece. 👍 Congrats on getting the discounting arrangements set up.
@@billm.2677 Thanks Bill! Matt from Griffith has been nothing but a great guy! I know him personally and he’s earned every bit of my respect. He’s never stared me wrong and he’s always given me good advice. I’m just fortunate he only lives 30 min away 🙏🏼
Good shave Robert💈💈 Everytime someone says molle, I think of that scene in Austin Powers Goldemember with the molle"
@@garys_shave 🤣 Gary, you’re awesome! Don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise!!
Thank you for sharing. That is exciting to be able to try out stones and get a code. The chin can take a bit to get used to, but it is worth learning. Those moles do not like to heal quickly. They seem to take their sweet time. I hope you have a great week and take care. Ta
@@nonamebear1136 Thanks Robert. I’m thinking about removing that mole now.😂 I won’t be growing the goatee back until I’m 100% comfortable shaving my chin. My angles were a little off on the first pass, but I’ll be more mindful from now on. Luckily I still got a great shave. 👍🏼
I can't remember if I said so or not, but I have one in the exact same spot and the only times I would get it is with a de. So you will learn to work around it. And each edge can affect the angle you use, so there is that as well. But you're figuring it all out nicely.
@ Thank you my good sir!
👍👍
Hi Rob. 5 months mark 👍 when it comes to current modern mass production razors. You've tried dovo, boker, TI, Aust. Which is your favorite? You like them all? 🙂 Have a good rest of your week
@@borbelyhaz321 Thanks Gabor! Obviously I like the Aust SR’s, but as far as all the others that you mentioned, I really like Bokers! I have four of them and they don’t disappoint! I really like the feel of the steel on my TI but every time I’ve gotten a TI I seem to have to fix something with the geometry. As far as Dovo’s… i’m not crazy about the lower end ones, but the higher end Dovo’s are good for the price.. If you hone your own razors, I would put them in this order.. Boker Aust Ti Then Dovo… Just my personal preference That being said, you really can’t beat any of the old school razors as far as quality of steel.. But finding vintage SR’s in good shape can be a tall order
Looking good Robert 👍 Ralf Aust make some nice razors. His bellied hollow is really good. They sing but still feels solid and you still have control.
@@jpo31 Thanks John! Currently, I only have that one, but I’m looking into getting another one and when Ulrik from Koraat finishes my new razor I set that one up to have a full hollow grind for a thick beard, which means just behind the bevel it thickens up just a pinch. I was pretty excited to try that one, but it went missing in the mail so my anticipation and excitement to try that razor when he’s finished with the new one just keeps growing.😅
Yhsts s really nice Fili Rob, have to get mine out and give it a whirl. 👍
@@Sustainashave Thanks James. I love my Filarmonica! When it’s freshly honed, it’s pretty amazing! It’s pretty hard to beat Filarmonica steel! It sings like a canary👍🏼
@RobertPascale It is bud they really are another level, great fun to shave with. I've got a EPBD with a rubber shank that I fixed up. I did have a double temple as well and they mostly shaved the same. Nice shave chap.
@ Thanks James! If you end up coming across in MK 32 in good shape, let me know brother
@RobertPascale Sure shall do I've got another gent after one also but he turned down one already so I'll ask again if when I get one and your be next in line, my eyes are peeled, lol.. 👍

Oh and that's a very nice razor..
@@Sustainashave Thanks James! That’s a good question! I’m waiting for Matt to get back to me when he has time so that we can start to go over some of the stones that he’d like me to review.. pretty excited!
@@RobertPascale cool I look forward to seeing what you get. Have a goodun.
Looking goood Robert! You're damn right about the witches hazel, that's the only correct way of saying it haha When you talk about edging are we talking about straight razors? 🤣
@@seanstapelfeld Yes Sean!😂 Thanks man! I may have to refer to it as the witches hazel from now on..😅
Nice shave rob can't beat a ralf aust nice modern razors . The mole must be a bugger . Have you tried pull skin as taught as possible when going across chin and keep blade flat .
@@garyhaywood6013 Hey Gary, yeah, I need to pull the skin tighter around the chin and I know on my first pass I didn’t have the best angle, but I’ll work on that for the next one! Using a straight razor on the chin is a new experience for me. It can only get better from here. 👍🏼
Nice shave mate. Jealous of you getting to test out stones haha wish you all well mate forwards.

@@RobertPascale how are escher compared to black or green shadow? I can maybe get a escher for 50 bucks but know nothing about them

@ Good to hear things are going well with the healing process!! Hopefully you were able to get a decent shave today!!
im scared to shave my face its just so scary to attemp as a beginner what is your advice sir 😊
@@OpenMind4ft3r4ll well my story is that I was using throwaway cartridge razors and got tired of purchasing them because they’re very pricey so I got myself a DE safety razor first and next I started using a shavette so I could start to get the muscle memory for a straight razor and once I felt comfortable using that, I bought my first straight razor and went for it! I approached it with patients and made sure that I was very aware at all times with a straight!

Well done matey you did really well there .
@@garyhaywood6013 Thanks Gary! If only I had remembered, I had a mole there😅 I’ll keep practicing on the goatee area before I let it grow back in. Now I HAVE to perfect it!
Those thuri edges can be unforgiving sometimes. Some of the edges I have put on were almost uncomfortable keenness. That point you can feel it wanting to bite into the skin. But it does help you train your pressure and hand control. There ain't no auto pilot shaving with a good thuri edge. lol I have a mole in the exact same spot on my chin. Those thin cuts heal nicely on the ears. Thanks for sharing Rob. Have a good one.
@@nonamebear1136 yeah Robert it wasn’t my best work, but it was a good learning experience👍🏼 The funny thing is, my cousin told me if I was going to shave my chin for the first time that I should probably use one of my own razors that I was familiar with. Not a new one from someone else, but I like to live on the edge… 😅
I find using a large smiling blade is kinder on the chin area or other tight curves of the face/head. With the straighter blades, it is easier to get yourself if not paying attention.
@ I only have one or two blades that have a bit of a belly, but I feel like I need to get one or two more for good honing practice with my rolling strokes and for those hard to reach areas
Nice shave Rob! The goatee area has always been the hardest for me. I nick myself there more than anyplace else. Lookin good my friend!
