It's really amazing
Wow Very impressive
Good job Christopher
In my experience, the bassoon is a device that holds a delicate double reed such that when you swing the instrument up into playing position the angles are perfect for smashing the reed into your teeth thereby breaking the tip of the reed.
Thanks
Thank you
t have kinda trouble at 4:00 getting C diese to the C beccare
I play this in band
Wow
Thakssss
How do you do those stacattos that are like spicattos that is the hardest part for me consistent bowing on those parts
Buen video. Graciaaaas 🥺🥺🥺
👏👍🏼
Me gusta pero quisiera traducirlo al español
Can you please make a video with more detail about creating sameness of tone in up bows and down bows? My Musette suffers from a wah wah effect from the changing tone quality between up bows and down bows and I have been unable to fix it. Your tutorial is the first Musette tutorial I have seen that even mentions this issue. As an adult beginner, I feel that this difference in tone is one of the characteristics that makes my playing sound immature.
Very useful, thank you for your work!
Which brand violin good quality tone
I’m finding those four-note slurs very difficult to play fast, esp the ones that cross strings. Any practice tips? Thank you!
Hi Anne, great question. So when we can, we want to be using our fourth finger to avoid crossing strings on slurs (e.g. m.20), because as you note it can be difficult to play quickly. However, this is sometimes unavoidable (e.g. m.25). To work on these passages, I would recommend 1) breaking it into two note slurs to start - play the first two notes slurred together and the second two slurred together, making sure to break them into separate bows. This will help you get adjusted to the feeling of crossing strings while slurring notes. You can practice this slowly, then play it faster, and eventually the goal is to play it in a four-note slur as written. 2) Also, make sure your left-hand fingers don't drift too far from the fingerboard when you're not using them. Have them hovering over the strings so they'll be easier to use them when you need them. Hope this helps, if you have any follow up questions just let me know. Best of luck.
After almost four months(!!!), my teacher let me "graduate" from this piece. Thank you so much for your tips. The part about lifting the second finger as you play the fourth on the back-to-back four-note slurs helped me a lot.
thank you
Thanks for the tips.
great !!!!!
Very well done! I am a teacher of young music students and will use this to introduce the bassoon! Thanks so much!
Respect and Chapeaux 🎩
Thanks, I'm happy this came in my recommendations. I was struggling with this song, maybe because how I was playing with the bow because going to the other strings are kinda hard because they don't sound smooth but scratchy
Please show finger board
Você toca violino e também explica muito bem. Parabéns

Love this tutorial thank you 🙏🏽
🎻👏👏Pięknie!
que lindo
Bella melodia!!!
Excelente!!!
Beautiful!
I came because the bassoon is one of my favorite instruments and I’m a fan of old cartoons.
My answer would be watch Tom and Jerry for at least a couple of minutes and then you will hear the bassoon. Proof is I watch Tom and Jerry all the time and while I laughing at Tom’s failed attempts to catch Jerry, I just keep on hearing the bassoon many times (usually 5 -10) throughout each episode.
Tom and Jerry is a great example! Orchestral music was used in the scores of many old cartoons - Tom and Jerry, Looney Tunes, and Merrie Melodies - so that's why hear the bassoon so much. Nowadays, cartoons and TV shows don't really use classical music in their scores. Also, in lots of these old cartoons we see something called 'Mickey Mousing,' a film technique where the actions of the characters on screen are synced to the accompanying music (which is often classical). A bit unrelated, but something you might find interesting if you like watching old cartoons and the bassoon. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mickey_Mousing
@@musiscola If I create a cartoon in the future, I will have an orchestra soundtrack and I will without a doubt include the bassoon playing as much times as it’s heard in Tom and Jerry (5 - 10, sometimes 20.) The bassoon is a very beautiful instrument that deserves the love of people around the world.
Christopher, Thanks! It is great video!
Hi Rosangela, I'm glad it was helpful! Thank you!

Pleaseee teach me that Vibrato ❤
great job!
Super useful for a nеwbie trying to tackle this on my own! Thanks :)
Christ, quick question, why you did not included videos for “Lightly Row and Song of the wind”? I could not find them and was wondering if there is particular reason in term learning or something like that?
Hi Rob, thanks for your message, and I'm super happy to hear that you and your son are working your way through Suzuki! I've been creating videos for pieces in the book chronologically starting with Long, Long Ago so I haven't gotten to making videos for Lightly Row and Song of the Wind yet. However, if those are videos you'd be interested in just let me know, and I'd happy to make them for you. Thanks!
@@musiscola Thank you for replying Christ, my son started around 15 months ago, he is at the beginning of Suzuki 3; but he has the blessing of being part the High school orchestra and he also has taking some private lessons. In order to motivate him I joined him at home practice, like 10 months ago, on his daily practice. But sure, soon enough he left me behind, loooong ago! Lol I am almost done with Suzuki 1, But I am doing this on my own. I just found your channel and decided to review the whole book all over again because I am not ready to Suzuki 2 yet. Your videos will definitely help a lot cause you present the material in a basic and simple way, and straightforward. I definitely will continue to practice using your videos as tutorial material. That way I can refined my skills and be a bit more ready to target the next level. Thank you again for the hard work you put into this videos and for taking time to reply. ua-cam.com/video/lVjZh3OAFIo/v-deo.html
Thank you for your kind message, it really means a lot. It sounds like your son is making very excellent progress (I enjoyed the video!), and I think it is amazing how you joined him as well. It's great that he joined an orchestra; one of the best parts about playing any instrument is playing with others (although that is a bit difficult at the moment). It's a lot of fun and you also learn from your peers. If there are ever any pieces or topics that you'd like me to make videos on, don't hesitate to let me know. And of course, reach out if you have any questions. Best of luck to both of you!
@@musiscola we will continue watching your channel and promote you. Thank you for your kind disposition to make videos to help your viewers!
Great video, my son is learning and I just recently started to learn to play Suzuki book 1 with him. You presentation is simple, basic and very straightforward, keep up with your videos! Thanks
this is very useful and clear. I'm working on this piece and Minuet No.1 thank you very much!
Thank you for your kind comment!
