Chairman's Podcast | Mark Wakeford & Richard Evans (founder of collaboration expert)
Construction is the UK’s largest single industry and one that is endlessly changing and variable. There are generally plenty of issues to keep us busy and focused on the known unknowns. However, it is worthwhile taking a step back every so often to see us how others see us, to determine whether we might operate in a different way, with different priorities. Mark talks to three professionals from different backgrounds, but who all have knowledge of overseas markets. Richard Evans, founder of collaboration expert, Affinity and Matt Rushmere, a BDM for Nord Logistics are both based in Lithuania and Blair Whitehurst, an experienced international FM professional talk about the effects of a Trump presidency, the opportunities and ease of importing materials to the UK to manage demand and the opportunities of thinking of supply chain partners being able to come from anywhere around the world. The team talk about the need for UK construction to look further afield, to countries who have strong capability in off-site manufacture and who can provide quality items at realistic prices. This will be especially true in the UK housing market where the 2-D off-site market can make a serious contribution to the UK’s housing targets of 1.5M homes during this parliament. The call to arms is, as with many of construction’s challenges, to collaborate widely and to start early. The Baltic states work on personal contacts, all be it under-written with strong contracts. Get investigating and get into control.

Chairman's Podcast | Mark Wakeford & Yosof Ewing (The Contract Coach)

Construction is the only industrial sector that describes its main companies as “contractors”, highlighting the importance of the contract between two parties. This designation forgoes the value that our industry creates, focusing on the small print as our raison d’être. Couple this with a highly fragmented industry with low margin and we perhaps should not be surprised that many of our commerc...

    Instead 'love' suits more respect. Respect need to be earned and if bodily as a politician - has a primary duty under oath, to served on the purpose of duty to people and country are obligations. I favor models of political ethics that include opportunities for politicians to take greater responsibility. "Ethics and Etiquette; The first is personal Integrity, the second is Transparency, and the third is Accountability. But, if you do not have the first, then the other two will deceived own lowest level of morale“. - Founder/Director I do respect all. But, if you have to hurt other people in order to feel powerful and get what you desire, you are an extremely weak individual and none exist to me. It's never fun to be on the receiving end of criticism right? I do receive mine with plain face. - Bella Anis 🧠 They need to #WalkTheTalk to earned respect and likeable by people. Not a people pleaser culture, unhealthy leads to misconduct and corrupts absolutely. Me and 2 cents thought. HUMAN.1987.WOMAN

    Mayor of London Policy’s, over either introducing Toll Charges for going through road tunnels under the Thames, to “ULEZ and Congestion Charging zone expansion etc. Just seem to be money grabbing schemes, to charge and tavierx both Londoners and/or Visitors to London, for everything possible Mayor Sadiq Khan can get away with? His behaviour over all of this reminds me, of the 1968’s Musical film Oliver, but especially one of the main charter from this great movie. One Fagin the arch criminal and fence of stolen property taken from unsuspecting Londoners and Visitors to London, by Fain little gang of child robber’s and thefts plus pocket pickers too! So we have a suggest for Mayor Khan, if he standing for re-election in 2024 to be Mayor of London again. For his coming political campaigning to win London votes, for himself and the Labour Party too, if he can win any votes that is? Mayor Sadiq Khan or soon maybe ex-Mayor Khan, should use the following song from 1968 film Oliver!, as his campaign theme music, “You've Got to Pick a Pocket”; ua-cam.com/video/4X48mxMPm9Q/v-deo.html,

    Good afternoon CSCS team Why is it you haven't put my qualifications on your card checker site as a skilled NVQ 3 Bricklayer with Gold CSCS card status, what do you think you are playing arround at, who put operative there ? Shall I remind you of the letter that I received from CSCS notice of registration on the 08 June 2001 stating the above acceptance to CSCS due to my qualifications, and in a letter dated 30th April 2001 sent to me by D ELVIDGE product manager of the City And Guilds a registered charity number 264289 and 312832, or is CSCS hosting a game where they disregard people's qualifications and deceive people in conjunction with City And Guilds, because if they are they had better get D ELVIDGE and there solicitors ready for a court battle, and can CSCS make it clear to other City And Guilds or NVQ qualified construction worker's on the CSCS website that there qualifications are relevant to there individual trades, because I've seen no evidence of this. People's livelihoods depend on this being right and it's most certainly not, I and many of my friends were duped into believing that this would benefit qualified construction worker's by giving a handy form of proof of our abilities, it states that in the letter I received, but by checking my details I can quite clearly see that this is not the case. Corrected my details online and then inform me, then fully explain and provide evidence of the charitable work that CSCS dose in conjunction with City And Guilds because I can not find anything other than a corrupt system that stops individual's gaining employment. Yours sincerely Mr

    The type of card that you apply for will depend on the occupation you do, what a load of fucking bullocks, these bastards don't recognise nvq 2 nvq 3 bricklaying as a qualification even with the new health and safety qualification, try getting your gold card renewed which is the one I held, you've got no fucking chance, bastards , we are living in a society that George Orwell predicted would arrive and it's here, fuck these bastards they want to control the building industry we will see about that won't we lad's.

  • @golfinguna
    @golfinguna 9 років тому

    In order to gain a CSCS card you have to take the test £19 + the card will then cost £30 + After which you will have to renew it, I believe every five years. Add to this the books and DVDs the CITB sell and the profits are astronomical. £millions upon millions every year. This is the biggest rip off in the history of employment in the UK. The CITB even have the cheek to revise their books every single year even though the there are little to no changes in the revised books.

  • @golfinguna
    @golfinguna 9 років тому

    We all know how we would like it to be. But sorry this is bullshit. The majority of sites never bother checking for cards, many workers turn up without them, they are not a certificate of qualifications anyone can learn the stupid multiple choice questions and get a card. The true aim of this card is make millions of pounds for companies holding the test and selling the cards. And, when its all over thousands of site managers and tradesmen don't give a toss about health and safety because they are all under pressure to cut corners and get the houses built.
