Little bit different this time, as I couldn't get time to record in the 'booth, so it's a voiceover Some clips. On the plus side, you don't have to look at my ugly mug for very long!
From next month, I'll be looking to reduce the amount of these, to either Fortnightly or Monthly. Do let me know in the comments which you think is best.
The initial idea for these was to replace the monthly magazines, so once a month was the obvious idea, but shout with opinions.

Painting My RC Car Body - New Color Scheme
The video I was looking for💪🔥 I really enjoy the stock body but it is made of paper 🥴🙄😆
Glad it helped! The new body is still going strong for us, despite the kids best efforts! 😂
Too late to the party! I've just done a Mini in Cosmic Green.... Backed in white!!! It's all in the knowledge!! Thanks for the education Chris.
If your mini racing is like our mini racing, you'll have the opportunity again soon!
Sub'd up. Gavin sent me here!
Cheers! Enjoy! 😁
🎵 Got to love a bit of New Age Techno!! Race reports are getting better, maybe show a bit of action at the start to show folk what to expect in the rest of the video 🤙 Keep up the good work… And as for the chair incident 😂😂
It's a good call. I edited the race footage together on Sunday night, not thinking.... Maybe the next meetings should be at the end? Probably needs more structure, but I don't want it to be half an hour long, either....
@@Gingapaint well I personally enjoyed this one the best so far but you have a few seconds at the start of the video to try and “Hook” people’s interest. I’d definitely try adding some race footage etc to the very beginning. It might work, it might not but I do think it’s worth a go
Hi, Chris! Enniskillen Model Car Club will be starting up again in September. We will be running the Tamiya TT02's, and we are starting a new class of Team Associated Reflex 14b buggys. As soon as we get up and going, we hope to get reports sent to you each week :D
Great to hear on all accounts! Thanks!
Not sure about the choice of background music in this one 😊
It's new age industrial techno. You wouldn't understand. Or, my microphone was playing up. Either orm
@@Gingapaint I like the new age Techno excuse 😂
Well today was a learning day, opaque colour to back fluro 👍
The day I found out about it was a revelation. Just means you don't get the "Hot Spots" or washed out looking Fluro, as it's difficult to spray everywhere consistently. You do lose a little bit of ultimate brightness, but it's a much richer Fluro colour.
Thanks for these videos. I'm just starting my airbrush journey and lots of the steps are fairly daunting. These videos have helped loads. Do you have any advice on backing the finished article, as my paint seems to come off easily? Thanks in advance
Hi Dan. By paint coming off easily, is it flaking off, or rubbing off? If it's flaking, it's most likely preparation, or first coat being too heavy (check the next video) or the wrong paint type. If you want to send photos etc, you can message me on my Facebook page and I can see if I can identify the issue :) If it's simply rubbing off, I back everything with spray lacquer (I use Halfords clear, just because it's easy to get). Just first coat needs to be light again :)
@Gingapaint it's not flaking off which is a plus I guess. It's rubbing off. I will try the spray lacquer. Thanks for the tip 👍🏻
@@danreid6416 I run a small amount of light masking tape on areas that I know the body will rub. I know the Nitro guys I help out use a lot of "Shoe Goo" to protect against fuel spilling etc too. I'll try to get my buddy Brad over at some point to show what he does to his 8th scale bodies, he's pretty easy on them.
@@Gingapaint that would be great. I will try your tips. Thanks again!
Is it a case of backing any Fluor/iridescent paint with a close opaque colour?
Yeah, so back Fluro Yellow with Opaque Yellow etc etc. You'll lose a little bit of the overall brightness, but it's a much richer, more consistent colour.
Iridescent is a little different, as you can manipulate the finish, depending on backing colour.
Must call up some evening, keep up the great work 😃
Absolutely fella. I usually record this on Sunday and Monday evenings. 😁
😂😂😂 Thanks Chris….thats so true about us modest Bikers at Craigavon Model Racing Club……😂😂
Awesome idea, might have to join you some day, add a bit of eye candy for the viewers and all that 😃😊
You were invited!! Lol! Yourself and Bradley are to be the comic relief! 😂😂😂 I'll be rounding up after RCNi on Sunday if you wanna call over.
The more you the better lad
Thanks Chris for the mention of Craigavon Model Racing Club’s NI GP on the 27th….not just for the 1/5th Scale Cars but Superbikes as well……😜
Superstar! Thanks Jim. If you get chance, pop me a race calendar across. I'll try to get over and do a quick club visit video too.
Sent you an invite to my calendar 👍
Hero! ❤️
Where did you find the anti-roll bar?
Hi David, all parts for this came from MB Models (rccarshop.com) except the Schumacher ARB Mounts, which came straight from Schumacher (racing-cars.com) I'm not sure about availability elsewhere, I'm afraid. Part numbers are listed in the video if that helps at all.
Subscribed.
Nice new Yokomo there 👀
Still far too clean.... It'll get a rattle soon 😈
@@Gingapaint I'll show it some track, once the 17.5 championship is in the bag. 😛 *The podium spots are up for grabs but it's pretty much sealed. Bamber 🏆🥇
Don't get too comfortable on your perch, come indoors season 😉
@@Gingapaint Ohh that's a different animal 🤣
@@chrisb_rc I can't wait, to be honest. Might not run the MS1.0 until indoors. The RS1.0 needs a rattle and could see Ballymoney. Are many running the Justock combo yet?
Sempre tive vontade de ir
It was an INCREDIBLE concert!! Everything I thought it would be! Hopefully you'll see them soon!
Hey what body’s fit please Thanks
Hi Leslie, the RS1.0 runs a standard 1/10th scale 190mm width Touring car body. My RS currently has a "Zoo Racing" touring car body on, but there's a massive selection to choose from! You can see mine here: ua-cam.com/video/zFfEjEUS0yM/v-deo.html
Great to see how different backing colours drastically change what we see on the outside. I might have received the hobbynox airbrush and compressor for Father’s Day so I’m really looking forward to seeing more painting videos!
No problem, just give me a shout if I can help with anything! 😁
Another video I would like to see is Flo paints over large areas, that is another one that can be struggle with some colours.
There is a bit of a trick to this, to avoid "hot spots" etc 😉
be good to see this done again with a flo colour (i.e. fluorescent Yellow) as sometimes I struggle to make it pop like others. I think number of coats and drying time can make a big difference as well as what you back with?
That's a great point actually. I'll pop some Fluro down next and show the different points to help out 😁
So good to see and at a great entry price for likes of me. Recommended cheap compressors also greatly received 😅
For years, I ran down to B&Q and bought the cheapest oil free compressor I could find (some of them were loud, but at £50-£60 you couldn't complain!) and just put an inline water trap on. Did me fine, for years at a time, until the piston rod failed! If noise is a problem, then you need to be a little more careful with selection, but I was always lucky enough to have a converted space where I wasn't annoying anyone.
I was considering the bigger size to get into airbrushing with but wasn’t sure about the quality in comparison to the price point. Looks like it’s a decent bit of kit that I may have to get involved with in the future! Great vid mate!
For the price point, it's unreal! I've tried the "eBay special" cheap brushes before, that were poor, but genuinely very pleased with this. It'll stay hooked up to the compressor 😁
Looks like a good enough tool for the kind if paint work I do.
Really impressive bit of kit, for the price point!
Been running tt02 and its ok! But im excited to build this and run it
A TT02 is great, we raced them at our club for ages and my young lad still does a spec class in them, but you'll love the precision and quality of the Yokomo kit. Massively surprising just how well these go, alongside top line kits! Fire any questions you need to at me! 🙂
YES im glad someone agree's!!!!! I've been saying this for years, I see a good number of "top" Uk painters scoring bodyshells with a brillo pad. Then the chrome and windows end up looking shite. Ive never scored a bodyshell and never had paint fall off.
I had a paint failure once, but it was Pactra "Fluro base" instead of white. That was a loooooong time ago! Anytime I see it elsewhere, it's poor prep or thick aerosol application.
You know how I feel about separate screw bags! 😂 thanks for the video l, great to see inside the box! I love the Matt finish. Can’t wait to see the build videos!
Ah, I've got used to the screw bags, but Tamiya Etc has us spoiled!! I'm itching to get started, but I'm under pressure to paint a few bodies... Then the race is on to get it running this weekend!
Brilliant night! Came straight home and joined the club, can’t wait for next race day 😃
I know a man who'd do the 1/8th one 🤣
I was hoping to get it a run round last night, but didn't get chance. I'll be there tonight for another go!
@@GingapaintSee you there 👍
Bigggg sends 😁
I was behaving.... Big sends on Sundays 😉
@@Gingapaint 😉
May I ask were your club meets?
Hi, the largest club in Northern Ireland is the UMCC, primarily racing on road now. Indoors at Wellington College, Belfast during the winter and outdoors at the Joey Dunlop leisure Centre in Ballymoney. For off road, RCNI has just opened, outside Banbridge catering for both 10th and 8th scale off road on their own specific tracks.
@Gingapaint Awesome. Glad to hear it's still a viable hobby.
@@captainchaos3053Yeah, numbers have fluctuated, members come and go. We're starting to see old members back now with their own kids too. Second generation racers are Properly quick too!! We've just completed a purpose built off-road venue too, for 8th and 10th scale which we've been missing for a while!
@Gingapaint Sounds like a blast. I haven't really raced for about 30 years. My Mardave mini was a jammy rocket. That is to say I hit the jackpot with a screamer of a motor by pure chance. What is the best entry level for a kid to start with these days?
@@captainchaos3053 honestly, wherever you can race locally! A friendly atmosphere and guys willing to help out a newcomer is more important than the actual class. Something that controls costs is always a bonus too, but honestly it's just wherever you can go home with a smile! I'm just home from a practice night at our local club, and I only ran the car for maybe 6-7 minutes, but had great fun laughing and joking with friends, all of whom I've met from playing with "Toy Cars" 😂
one of the least helpful How-To Videos ive ever seen...
It was one of the very first, a few years back. But appreciate the feedback, hopefully you find the newer videos more helpful.
Any suggestions on how it could improved? I must revisit these older videos and learn from them :)
Where did you get the masks from for the headlights?
Hi, I cut them on my vinyl cutter (cricut)
Broken shells and servo savers, my two weaknesses #saynotosavox
Lol.... I use Savox in pretty much everything. Rarely have an issue? 1251MGs everywhere 😂
@@Gingapaint I'm sure one day I'll venture back to them, could well be one in my 1/8th 😋
Here I am, an experienced idiot. 🤣 Everything is me-proof until I change bodyshell from a Twister 😘
Nothing is fool-proof to a suitably qualified fool! 😂😂
You should give your compressor a name for when it ‘speaks’ in a video 😅 Great to have some insights into more entry level touring. I may start with a Tanya and then progress. That’s if I get time from our buggies. My lad is the same age as yours.
Not so much a name, but I call it plenty, when it goes off and I'm not expecting it 😂😂 I maintain it's a great hobby for youngsters. So many skills to learn, and I'm still hanging out with friends I made through it, 30 years ago 😉
😂
How's the rebuild going bud?
Slowly! Lol! It's hung up on my wall, looking splendid!
Thanks for the video.
Thanks for Viewing! 😁
Congratulations, an X11, lovely!!
Thank you!! Chuffed to bits with it. I'll get some proper paint on it and replace the rusty hardware soon!
That's a time capsule! 💊. Buggy sends on friday night?
Absolutely not..... This will see a few, steady runs. The SO2.0 however, FULL SEND on Friday 😁
@@Gingapaint 🤣 I'm coming to play 🏎️💨
@@chrisb_rc I'll be there. I might chuck the Pred in the boot, I'm sure Andy will want a nosey 😉
Thats one superrare 2005 low flat buggy. How did you managed to find one that's not in "spare parts" condition?
I used to run an older version along with a few local guys. One of the younger lads, I kinda took under my wing and helped out as much as I could. Fast forward 20 years, we're good mates but he stopped racing and I was TC racing. I messaged him about my old XK98, and he said he had this in a box. We struck a deal and the rest is history. Except he's dug all the old stuff out of the garage and is coming racing again this weekend! 😁
How much pressure are you using?? Sounds like a lot??
A small hurricane.... Lol. When I need coverage and a lot of paint flow, it's pretty high pressure. If I'm honest, I don't look at the gauge anymore and do it all with "feel". I've a pressure regulator just to my left, that I can adjust on the fly, and will adjust on the fly. I find the higher pressure to work best with water based paints, just they can't be reduced as much as the older (Pactra) paints, and won't atomise at lower pressures :)
Tried this after watching your video, loved the results!
I'm a huge advocate for men talking about health issues 🫶 Ps, I'll throw my 1.0 across for your indepth/ side by side 😀 Electroniclly it's built to the rules of the "news" 😉
Cheers fella! I'll chat to you on Saturday about it :)
Kind of unrelated this comment but do you rind the RS200 on an Mchassis is a fast body?
Hi, I had an RS200 body for my M05, but never ran it! I painted it up in Pat Dorans' Q8 Oils colours and just kept it on display (I love a bit of old Group B) it was low, which would help, but a fairly heavy lexan and very little room in the arches to play with track width etc. it looks fantastic, though. I ended up running a Protoform Europa M, or a Bitty Hibera M most of the time. The Ride BRZ is usually the go-to M chassis body at our club.
X-ray used to offer a cheaper and upgradable kit…I used to love that I like the idea of a lower cost option as TC has gotten out of the reach of the beginner for sure and if you lose starters the hobby can’t grow
I remember the XRay club racer. Looked like a great bit of kit, but never saw too many of them. But then, it wasn't so much cheaper than the race kits. However now, the price of race kits is so much more. The RS1.0 is less than 1/3rd the price of the BD12!!
I’m Very interested in this (like you I don’t want to spend $700+)..but I understand its gearing options are very limited
The mount for the shark fin can get in the way, especially with the included pinion gear. I use a lightweight steel one that allows you to mount it past the mount. I'll check what size I ended up running in Blinky. I suspect that a smaller spur will allow you to mount the motor further forward and avoid the issue. I'll have a look next I have it in my hand!
