Nice info about PR economy , Act 60 helps PR !
Puerto Rico needs to become independent.
Excellent
Great discussion!
Hey! Do you know that mentioning that Puerto Rico supports AI will cut the opportunities to do business in Puerto Rico? Do you know what AI is? Be careful in accepting something that will put Puerto Rico in a worse position. 😉

Rock on Alex! Nice interview
Nice presentation!
Love your videos. But between the background music and often bad audio it's pretty disturbing to listen to.
Youre benefiting from puertoricos suffering. You people are a plague
Inmoral pigs
I hope they listen to Peter Schiff.
Always left better informed after hearing this man speak. Mr. Schiff, I'm sure you're contributions to Puerto Rico now as a resident are greatly appreciated and my hats off to you. I wish you and yours the best in all your endeavors on the island.
What a gorgeous girl! And she's smart and THAT driven too? She'd be an ideal candidate to be a Miss Universe Puerto Rico. You should have run that by her, she'd definitely have my vote. Very impressive in every respect.
Thank you for embracing Puerto Rico I enjoy listening to this podcast!
turn the music OFF! i want to hear the speakers NOT music!
Great video with quality content 👏
Ivan Zavala's contribution for the panel was outstanding. He is an example how private sector can contribute to rescue and improve declining urban areas while double his return on investment. As Mr Alejandro says, "local people are much prompt to invest and take risk than foreigner capital", in my opinión, this why PR government should also create a tax section as good as Act 20 for locals investors.
Background music so distracting, need to lower the volume...
Necolonialism 😌😌 “yeah, we moved for the tax incentives”. Nice! So brave of them to take the “risk”
Yeah, I agree. So risky to come to an island that is battered and bruised and take advantage of it. Sooo risky.
If I have 3 million dollars in a pre-tax IRA. If I withdrawal all 3 million dollars, will it be taxed at 4%?
Pretax is also known as a Roth IRA. Those funds, including the growth of those funds, is not taxed when you withdraw it after 59.5 years old, regardless of where you live. The 4% is what business income is taxed at, after paying a reasonable salary to any employees.
@@bbjerk1 Your incorrect. Pre-tax means you didn't pay taxes on that amount. A Roth IRA is POST-Tax, or after tax meaning you've already paid taxes on that money. Roth-IRA distributions are tax free as long as they have been in the account for 5 years. This is money that either was from a 401K or regular IRA contributions. I thought there was a provision for individuals?
@@dennistani1986 semantics aside, if you have already paid the tax, you don’t have to pay it again. The 4% is for businesses. Nothing to do with tax-advantaged retirement accounts. The personal investor portion of Act 60 that you refer to gives individual investors (not businesses) zero percent tax on capital gains only. If those capital gains happened to to be within a retirement account that has not yet been taxed, I’m not sure, but I think the same rules would apply - any gains made before you move and qualify, would be taxed at normal capital gains rates. Only starting Jan 1 of the year you qualify, do the gains start growing tax free.
@@bbjerk1 thank you!
You guys gotta stop with the repetitive music in the background. Makes paying attention difficult. Otherwise the channel offers good info. For this reason of music, can’t watch. But thanks for trying.
great content, music is super distracting though
Great informative content. Unfortunately, it’s difficult to consume the content when you have Kenny G playing in the background, lower the music volume for the next one.

Really good
I pray and hope you guys are going to bring jobs to the island and not only jobs ... but most of all not take advantage of the people from the island and actually pay them better then $9 an hour so they can finally start to progress in life . $7.25 doesn’t let them save any type of money for progression in life nor to invest to better them selves. So if your going to come into this island and make an establishment... make sure you take care of the people in general .... because remember the one who’s coming into the island as a visitor is you ... not them . So I hope your a good hearted investor and not a corrupted friend of the current government .....
$7.25 is better than $0. And I'm not saying people deserve to get paid $7.25 for a job that should pay $14. But it's better to bring jobs than no jobs whether it pays $7.25 an hour or $14 an hour.
@@WarriorNotesLatino your right and I totally agree but wouldn’t they be in the same situation? If your going to bring in jobs , bring jobs that are actually going to change peoples lives not keep them the same but work for a different company is all I’m saying . Investors pour in because of how cheap and beautiful our island is .... the least they can do is pay more and actually give the people something to look forward to when going to work .
@@DarksideLilWoady life isn't a fair. The attitude that someone else needs to change your life needs to change. America didn't have this attitude of entitlement when it was founded. People want to change their life, they should buy some courses on udemy and read books. I learned to program software in c++ and c# during the lockdown, the udemy classes costs $15 each, while living in Puerto Rico.
What oportunities u see in the South especially in Ponce?
The question is not how much tax he avoids from the U.S. which is where he makes his money, but how much aid the gov't doesn't have to spend on the island because he pays his workers less than he did on the mainland. No way to quantify, but it's a lot less than this 1%er would have you think. That's a new type of trickle down for ya
Or the workers in PR could make nothing ? What did you expect. Maybe he gives all his money to you ? Get a job turd bag
@@shootmovecommunicate3322 I have a job. Just highlighting how this guy avoids paying tax and pretends to do the people of the island a favor. Going by your vernacular I'm sure you have a job as well, but please don't type while driving the forklift.
@@johnarchibald4463 🤣🤣🤣 I actually chuckled... Good one. So you think he should stay in California and let them take half his income to do what with ? PR tried your version of taxation and it failed miserably. Why do you think they want business men to come to island ? Maybe because they bring jobs ? The federal government doesn't care about the island. Government doesn't spend money efficiency, they put 10 people between the money and the people that need it. He is doing more for the island than you. Go take that Berine train somewhere else. I actually own my own business and pay a ton of taxes to watch it wasted. More taxation never works, people just move like in this case and in every state with high taxes.
@@shootmovecommunicate3322 I'm glad you were amused. I believe Peter Schiff is out of Connecticut not California, another higher taxed state, but I get your drift. I live in one of those states. I don't mind paying my taxes where I choose to do business, You can always move to Texas or PR for this example, which is what Mr. Schiff did. I am also looking into purchasing property on the island, which is why I watched the video. I was just there the island is depressed and politicians want the golf courses filled with people looking for a tax haven? Might work for other Caribbean Islands with corrupt leadership. I wonder how many of these 1 man companies stay when act 60 ends in 2035. Enjoy the video games....
@@johnarchibald4463 Euro Pacific Capital was originally based in California. You should do your homework a little better. He left California because it sucked and was not business friendly. You don't mind paying 50 percent of your income to be wasted ? I am too looking at the island to move my business. Peter Schiffs employees moved to island with him. You don't understand how economics work. When they end article 60, all those people will just move again. Enjoy the tent cities and people taking a crap on the side walk outside your house. If PR is smart they will leave the taxes as low as possible and they will be the Hong Kong of the west.
Top tip: While recording the event don't record the sound of the room with all the echo’s and other noises that come along with a large group. Record the source of the audio directly from the microphone, this will help eliminate excess noise. Second tip: Listen to the audio before the video is published, the music is way too loud to enjoy what the speakers are saying.
Interesting topics, passionate and well informed panel. Looking forward to seeing what changes we can bring to PR as a community. Recommendations: Audio was very difficult to hear, the background music is not necessary or at a minimum should be lowered to a level more in line with the volume of the presenters.
background music distracting when speaker is talking
