A couple take aways from Video. I did enjoy it . I hardly ever backpack in from the top. Too crowded, try parking at Laneville Wildlife Managers cabin and hike up Red Creek Trail. Cross RedCreek and take Big Stonecoal trail up. Are Biscuits and Gravy a thing where you live ? Mountain House B+ G needs salt to bring out the flavor. They are comparable to McDonald’s Biscuits and gravy. Mtn House spaghetti and Pre- cooked scrambled eggs and bacon are delicious as well. There are much better folding saws for 1/4 the price. That tent was set up way too close to the firepit . And putting live green branches on a fire is not recommended, I get it he’s learning. We were all there once. Good video!

I live in North Ridgeville. My buddies and I hit up the Dolly Sods last year for their 23 mile trail. Went to lions head for night 1 and headed out day two. One of the best kept trails I’ve been on and really enjoyed my time there! Amazing place, and a great video

      N. Ridgeville is awesome. Love the Corn fest and miss Beckers Donuts 🍩. Definitely plan on going back and hitting up lions head for sure. I was actually shocked how often I had phone signal at the sods. Best place I’ve been to yet. Just hate that darn drive. Thanks for watching.👊

The Sods is on my list of favorite places. I rarely hit a trail twice. Dolly Sods is one of the rare ones. When I went I didn’t have advice and was knee deep in mud a lot. It was all good. And yes, finding the trail in the pines is less than easy.

Fellow Clevelander here, awesome video! I went with a couple buddies back in May. There was <10 groups registered on the trail head and maybe 4-5 cars. I really loved how nearly every patch of trees after that first junction had camp sites, beautiful too with plenty of kindling (that folding saw is a lifesaver). It definitely wasn't an easy hike for us, plenty of weird terrain to sprain an ankle. My only comparison was Alleghany, which is incredible for the <3 hours drive from us.

From the other side of the coin. I've been hammock camping for over 60 years and tent camp when only a tent can be used. Tent camping has acquired one new addition , it's the same mattress ( Klymit ) you have , the extra thickness is nice. The Jungle hammock serves as the Bed , Lounger and even a Chair. Yep , all three wrapped into one item. My mattress ( insulation ) in the hammock is a Therm-a-rest self inflating mummy style 3/4 length. It's inflated 1/2 to 3/4 so it conforms to the hammock and my body supporting every inch. I like alcohol stoves for the simplicity , quietness and light weight ( Esbit has a really good one) The pack is a Chicken Tramper 25 liter and with everything in it my Hammocks gear base weight is between 7 and 8 pounds. At 77 years young I don't thru hike , only section and recreational ( No hurrying just enjoying ) camping.

I really wanted to like the Klymit pads but I have not had any luck with them. I have bought 3 of them from different places and none of them lasted through the first trip. Thin to begin with but if they lose any air at all (and all 3 did) you are back on the ground. I’d rather have a closed cell folding pad then these. I finally saved all my Pennie’s for a while and bought a quality pad.

For me I use a hammock and tarp under quilt overquilt and I'm pretty sure I'm close to but not quite the same poundage as you maybe just a half a pound more maybe a pound and a quarter more Please do remember that most of the time whenever summer gets back here again I'm normally bike packing so my stuff has to fit in the bags on my bike my stinger bag that goes behind my seat and my cinnamon roll that goes in front of my handlebars so that's two bags that everything has to mostly fit in except for the third bag which is usually on me a small micro backpack of some sorts with some tools snacks and a few odds and engine Bob's and things And while I am backpacking I do not use a chair so I might be the same and I might be under and I might be a slightly over I have no clue

Great video Alex! I'm hunting deer this weekend in Wayne National forest about 6 miles from the Zaleski. I plan on a winter trip to Zaleski myself. Bag liners and Army poncho liners add a lot of warmth to a 20 degree bag. I've had mine down to 8 relatively comfortably using them both. I think your iPhone 13 Pro did a great job filming this, as did its owner.
