Very promising, with all the right ingredients... But damn did it turn out underwhelming and straight up boring. They totally oversold the action, with all this talk about his profession and then showing so little of it. And it was at least 30 min too long for what it tried to do. If they wanted it longer they should have used the time to flesh out the MC, like by showing flashbacks of him and his cousin or of him and that Chinese guy, telling their history. What was their deal damnit? An African-American Marine just happens to be friends with an old Chinese dude who fought for China in the Korean war, and we are supposed to not wonder how tf that happened? There was a lot more wrong with this movie, but I will leave at that.

I liked it overall it could have been better in some parts. I thought the acting was good all around. Saulnier also directed Hold the Dark. You should check it out if you like his movies.

Quiz Lady is a great Awkwafina movie. Her character is quiet and antisocial so Awkwafina doesn't do her typical comedy style. Thank goodness.

I think this guy likes cinematography.

The main thing I didn’t like was Officer Evan Marston charter arc. He went for the instigator that gives the movie a purpose to the mole that helps save Terry. So he was ok with all the illegal dealings by the Sheriff until it came to Summer? Weak writing. And did Summer have to go to work after she was drugged? No sick days? Mi wife enjoyed the movie more than me, I gave it a C and she Gave it a B+. Mainly because we’ve lived and small town and can see this level of corruption this actually happen.

Also, she knew which gun was which because she saw them fall and she switched them

Great review man!!! I was hoping this one might be good.I haven’t seen Freddie Prinz Jr in a film in a long time.I use to like his movies back in the day.I always thought he was a decent actor for the roles he got.

it was a painful watch. I turned off my pc after seeing awkwafina cringe unfunny acting.

*This is how far horror as a genre has fallen. I sat through half of Winnie The Pooh horror movie & it was pure garbage, the fact that it was financially successful just shows how low standards are for modern day horror movie fans. I think it started going that way when garbage films like Paranormal Activity got sequel after sequel, trash like Ouija is now a franchise. They days of iconic horror movies are long gone when anything from childhood classics is financially viable shifted into the horror medium.*

Dude, this film made me realize how god tier Blood & Honey is. It actually has a story, even if it could’ve been better

I saw this film with my brother, mom and dad. The film had action, comedy and adventure in it. My favorite part of the film was when Noel defended Katie at the beginning of the film,after she won the lottery. The life lesson in the film is to trust others in life. I recall from the film, Noel talked to Katie about trust in a relationship in the panic room. It's like "The Purge" like you said, but it's like a parody of "The Purge".

I watched The Union on Netflix this weekend as well as this one. As bad as Jackpot is, it’s actually better then The Union 😂

Boring movie

I wasn't thrilled with the movie one bit. I liked the beginning credits with the creepy music. The arcade setting worked for me. I didn't like the acting from anyone. I couldn't get involved with these characters. The story and kills were stupid. I was bored. I don't want a sequel from this movie.

It wasn't that bad, a fun movie that you can watch once while doing something. But it has an identity crisis - like it couldn't make up if it's a full blown absurdist comedy or a kung-fu movie, or an action-comedy or drama or a social commentary. It also felt like trying to be like Idiocracy in the beginning. It was way too many ideas and the mix didn't work

Oh man, Awkafina is no where near as obnoxious as RS. this movie felt like the writer said "hey, I could make the purge funny" and we got the most mediocre movie possible. It was okay for a movie I used to kill time doing laundry. It's too bad I also Blockers this week because Cena can do so much better.

Awkwafina became really annoying just a few minutes into the movie. You knew who the bad guy was the second he came onto screen. Then, the sad backstories of Awkwafina and Cena just did not work in a comedy. The stunt work and fight choreography were first rate, but the movie ran out of steam pretty fast.
