My Sister and I had a challenge on who could catch the biggest fish on a $10 Kmart Jarvis Walker rod. In the end, she won with a 2kg Australian Salmon, but the fish didn't give up without a fight, especially when the drag on the reel of these Kmart rods doesn't work correctly!! Overall here is a fun little video of her catching this amazing fish on a pretty dodgy rod!

Bro just threw a good sized mullet back. Could’ve used it for live bait
I've been catching mullys since I was three. I've seen and caught literally thousand. That is not a 90 cm fish. Its barely even size, and the fact you gill grabbed before you even knew it was size. If it was you would have left it on the brag mat, It's barely 5 cms longer than your eski.
Thanks for your reply mate. From when I saw the fish on the shore I knew it was legal, I had one hand free to grab the fish as it fell of the hook on the tide line so a gill grab was the only option in that situation to secure the catch. I completely understand what you mean with the brag mat, but I never ended up having footage of that scene. For reference my esky is 80cm wide so that fish was over the legal size of 82cm by 8cm via the brag mat.

I would say that you can travel to Sugars Beach just on the inside of the Murray Mouth. This is accessible for 2wd vehicles and is only a short 50m walk to the beach. The road to Sugars is located off the main road on Hindmarsh island.

How far from the mouth did you come back in for the Mully ?
It was outside of the mouth mate, about 750m towards Goolwa. But conditions change frequently so any good, deep gutter should serve you well when they are biting! 🤙🎣
spent a lot of time ther when i lived near there great spot i found fly fishing there very productive

@@JigglingJacksAdventures we all learn something new everyday. You should also try get the otoliths(ear bones) out of the head, mulloway have some big ones they call them mulloway jewels.

was the mullet too small? it looked big enough and honestly off the beach there is no better bait then a mullet, live if you can but also make great fresh bait too.
No, the Mullet was a pretty good size, I just put it back because I didn't think of using it for bait as my mind was on getting Salmon Trout. But thanks anyway, I'll have to give mullet a go next time.! 👍

Good action, but a few steps closer to the water would respect the fish when releasing.
Cheers for the feedback! 👍Understand the concern and all fish were released unharmed though I had a cliff at my back, the current was strong and I value my life far more than going closer to the waves that could potentially sweep my feet off the ground. 🤙 Otherwise in any other situation I would of stepped up to the water in complete respect on releasing the fish, just the current circumstances didn't allow me to. 👍
