Media Literacy Now informs and drives policy change at local, state, and national levels in the U.S. to ensure all K-12 students are taught media literacy so that they become healthy, confident and competent media consumers and creators. Media literacy IS literacy - join our movement.
PSA: Before you hand over keys to the internet...
You wouldn’t give kids keys to a car without first giving them driving lessons, so why are we letting kids access the internet and social media without first providing them with media literacy education?
Like reading or math, media literacy is a learned skill that requires practice. The ability to navigate within our complex and ever-changing media landscape depends on acquiring skills and tools to know how to consume and evaluate information, ask critical questions, avoid manipulation, and engage in digital spaces safely and confidently. Unfortunately, these skills are not widely taught to our young people - yet.
You can help get media literacy education into more classrooms! Learn how: medialiteracynow.org/psa/

What is Media Literacy?
Переглядів 346 тис.7 років тому
Intended as a tool for advocates, the video introduces the concept of media literacy as a key that unlocks meaning behind the messages that we see, and allows us to be more thoughtful and deliberate as we create our own messages - such as those we create and share on social media. TRANSCRIPT There is no doubt that people, children especially, learn from all the media that they see, hear and exp...

Feels like it's just a fancy pseudo-academic way to pretend the "death of the author" concept doesn't exist.
So what exactly caused this to become a buzzword among soyboys?
Not my teacher literally copying the contents of this video 💀
Media literacy is when you agree 100 percent with the author and have 0 deviations
And also when you think a character saying hi instead of hello means they’re gay
Looks like someone failed their media literacy class
Good video. The music was too intense for me though.
Who is here not for school but to grow as a person?
Me
I really wish they didn't pretend this was something that kids need to learn and not adults. Sooooo many adults need media literacy education, arguably moreso than the digital native kids. The boomers I worry most about.
I think this is so important! The only thing I am coming to learn in this digital age is that there is a large group of older citizens that have been left behind. We have media literacy throughout schools and universities, but this landscape has evolved so rapidly. I think there should be resources for older groups, but I don't know how many of them actually want this education and understand its value.
This is a good channel to refer if you are a student and want to learn about media literacy
Well, hello! You are doing a great job here with solid guidance regarding educating our Nation's children. Cheers, Tim Carey
Hello Tim! Thank you.
You are most welcome! I finally retired after 30 years, from the Army and am now a shameless DoD contractor! I wish you and your family all the best.
Good work, appreciate the video and your solution towards a more digital literate global citizens!
Maybe it's just me, but I cannot sit and watch this video. The background music has me over stimulated.
I have this class this semester (in highschool) and I’m very excited to see what it has for me.

Congratulations on your New York Times , Denver Post Appearance ! ! ! Continue your excellent journalism as well as your research into the results of the misinformation media and the lack of verification and consequences.
You have two different tunes/beats playing out of sync with each other at the same time throughout this video and it’s maddening
Thank you

Amazing video! Thankyou for making this. I spend almost 8 hours a day on the media. This helped me have to tool to decide what should I believe and what should I not believe. I think this is so beneficial for children too. Since they cannot appropriately decide for them selves yet.

Media literacy cannot filter the subliminal and psychological messages embedded in their content which millions of kids see on a daily basis. Even adults are mindless consumer now imagine kids?? We are cosntantly bombarded with subliminal messages that we are not good enough and you must buy x,y,z in order to be good enough...I believe media literacy can only do so much... The damage is being done on a daily basisunless we get rid off of phone and screens at once..
that moment when you take online classes and you start seeing the other students who are also dying watching these pointless videos.
Factz My God😅

Media literacy on Crash Course is a good one. True kids need taught how to critically think and about logical fallacies with philosophy too.
Adding this to civil rights playlist.
Trouble is when some get subjective as calling all things racist instead of the actual dictionary definition agreed on. When such as an anti masker walking off a plane without a mask calls everyone racist that cheers them off wearing one. Just that sort of thing. I agree however there is some influence but it also depends country to country , and culture to culture differences some. There needs some literacy skills but beyond sociologist ideals too.
MIL PA MORE HAHAHA
