can i do this to any s line or dose it have to have a stander
I just got mine. But i think it's missing some parts in the headlight mechanism (my headlights look just like yours). What are those little three lights in the lower part of headlight do? How do you turn them on? Your anwer would be super helpful.
Hey, thanks for commenting. After you asked me this question I was curious myself. I tried figuring it out but wasn't too sure. Thought it might be the fog lights but even when I tried turning them on it wasn't that. Maybe they are the lights that turn on when turning with the car, that would be my guess. Sorry for not having an exact answer, good question lol.
0-60 times?
Will try and get a video of the acceleration soon, have been procrastinating a lot unfortunately. Will put it on my list of things to do this weekend. I won't have an official time but you will have a better idea of how it accelerates.
Did you tune the transmission what company did you use? I have the 6 speed aq250 and can’t find anyone with a tcu tune, idk if I should go stage 2 with out also tuning the transmission?
im in the same boat w a 17 q3 stage one tune intake charge pipes on the way and hopefully an intercooler but no one has a tcu tune which im trying to find as well
Hey, thanks for commenting! No the transmission is not tuned. I have been running my Q3 stage 2 for a while now without any issues. Preventative transmission oil change was done around 60k miles (100k km.) My car was tuned when I had only about 40k miles (60k km.) Car is now at 100k miles (160k km.) Transmission and engine seem to still be going strong, running 91 octane tune currently. Hope this helps. Cheers!
What air filter is thatv
Hey, thanks for commenting. It is an APR cold air intake that was made for a Golf/GTI. Retrofitted it into the Q3 by cutting a bit of plastic behind the grille.
That engine sound is normal on the S line?
Hey there, thanks for commenting. It only sounds like that because of the aftermarket downpipe as well as the resonator delete.
Hi Where did you run the vacuum hose that went to the intake between the MAS and the filter? or did you just cap it?
Hey there, thanks for commenting. I don't remember capping a vacuum hose. Installed this quite a while back so I don't remember too clearly sorry. If there is a hose though I am pretty sure it was connected to the new cold air intake. I will double check for sure once I am back home, will get back to you.
Thanks it looks like some models didn't have it.@@notsafegarage666
Beautiful Q3. Love how it sounds and sits! Do you have a write up on your build anywhere online? The lowering springs you got where the H&R "Sport Spring Set Average lowering front: 1.4" rear: 1.3" for the ECS Tuning site? If so, did you need to make any other adjustments for this?
Thank you, I appreciate the comment! Those are the springs I got yes, no other adjustments needed. Only thing I can think of is wheel spacers. If I remember correctly I have 20mm in the back and 15mm in the front, or 15 - 10. Hope this helps!
Thanks for the reply! Did you keep the stock shocks? I’ve read that the OEM shocks will be go out if only the springs are upgraded. Any experience with this on your ride?
Is that intake for a Mk6 or 7? Was it easy to modify? They don't make shit for these cars. Lol Also are those 20" wheels? What size tire do you have on them?
Hey thanks for commenting! The intake I think was for mk6, but I found the links to the parts from APR so i'll attach them below. Yes the wheels are 20" the tire size is: 255/35/R20. Let me know if you have any other questions, and yes lol hard to find parts haha I would look into CTS turbo as a company if you haven't they have some cool stuff for the Q3 (like my downpipe.) www.goapr.com/products/engine_hardware/intake/apr_carbon_fiber_intake_system_-_pq35_18t_and_20t/parts/CI100035-B www.goapr.com/products/engine_hardware/intake/apr_carbon_fiber_intake_system_-_pq35_18t_and_20t/parts/CI100035 www.ctsturbo.com/
what mm drop are those springs?
Hey there! Thanks for commenting. Here is the exact set of springs from the same website I ordered from; www.ecstuning.com/b-h-and-r-parts/sport-spring-set/29274-2/ You can find these H&R sport springs on lots of other sites as well, hope this helps! 😃
It's burning oil?
Hey, thanks for commenting! No it does not burn or consume oil since I have modified it. Excess smoke may be from the fact I have no catalytic converter.
Could you drop a link to the cold air intake? Thinking about putting one in mine too.
Hey there thanks for commenting! Unfortunately I do not think they make this APR intake for the Q3 really, it is an old GTI intake we had to retrofit in place. But CTS turbo makes some nice stuff for our cars, here's a link to an intake they make directly for the Q3; www.ctsturbo.com/product/cts-turbo-mk1-vw-tiguan-8u-audi-q3-2-0t-ea888-1-air-intake-system/ Hope this helps! Cheers
@@notsafegarage666 Oh i see, thanks though!
@@notsafegarage666update: I went stage 1+ and got an intake, and upgraded the brakes but I wanted to ask if your car also had the 6 speed auto transmission, or did the 2017 one come with a 7speed? I find that the only thing that holds this car back from being a lot faster is the slow transmission (2015)
How’s it holding up? Thinking about doing this to my car.
Car is now at 135 000 km, no check engine lights, no issues at all. It has been tuned since around 70 000km! Only thing that didn't hold up was the intake manifold which did crack but was reasonable to get fixed/changed. I think this was a mix of quality of the part as well as pushing hard on a 94 octane tune. When gas prices went up I went back down to 91 octane and have had no problems whatsoever since! Hope this helps. :)
I have a 2018 Q3, what parts numbers did you order for the cold intake and did you have to modify anything to install the cold intake?
Hey there, thanks for commenting. Unfortunately I am not able to provide you with a part number as the intake I got is the old APR model which I think they don't make anymore. It was intended for a GTI and was left over at the tuning shop. Since the GTI is an MQB platform like the Q3 I was able to trim some original plastic and retrofit the GTI one. Maybe this is still possible with their newer model but I couldn't say. I do have an alternative option for you though; CTS turbo which is also the brand of my downpipe makes some incredible stuff for our Q3s. They have a cold air intake that should fit without modifications and is intended for the Q3 and Tiguan. It is a lot less expensive and will provide you with very similar performance upgrades, it is essentially what I would buy if I had to do it all over again. Here is the link, I hope this helps! :) www.ctsturbo.com/product/cts-turbo-mk1-vw-tiguan-8u-audi-q3-2-0t-ea888-1-air-intake-system/
Thank you for the information.
Cts turbo makes one but I had to modify the tray to fit my 2017 Q3
Any info on the rims and tire set up? What size etc. I’m trying to find rims for my q3 and I’m having fitment issues 😢
Hey there, thanks for commenting! For the rims, I am using Audi OEM rotor wheels. They are 20-inch rims and the tires I run on them are 255/35R20. The bolt pattern for the Q3 and also many other Volkswagen/Audi cars is 5x112. When I was personally looking for rims I looked for OEM wheels since they would fit best (Volks too), but I also looked at many different other brands. You might have more luck in the 18-19 inch rim size range. It was quite hard to find a decent set of 20s and also can get expensive (tires as well.) I do recommend however that you visit an aftermarket auto parts store and try chatting with a technician there. They have tools to help you measure and figure out which offset would be best and also go over the options and catalogs with you. You can also visit sites with simple and visual wheel/tire finder tools like: www.tirerack.com/content/tirerack/desktop/en/homepage.html or if in Canada: point-s.ca/en Hope this helps a bit! Good luck and I hope you find some nice wheels. :)
What’s the offset? And did you use spacers?
which brake pads you have?
Hey, thanks for commenting! If I remember correctly, I have the EBC red brake pads.
@@notsafegarage666 ebc red is better than oem ?
What exhaust did you go with or did you just delete the resonator and keep the stock rear silencer? I'm looking at a Milltek SSXAU124. It's meant for an S3 3door but I think it will fit with little modification.
I have the 3" catless downpipe from CTS turbo, and the resonator delete only. I bet that a Milltek line would sound awesome, I would love to hear and see that. 🔥
What modifications are needed for it to fit I just picked up a 2018 and want it to be nasty so lmk if you know anything that would help
And how much bhp is it running now
In terms of BHP I am unsure, but as stated by APR on their website, I should be running about 270hp and 319 ft/lbs of torque with 91 octane gas. Here is the link to their website and graphs; www.goapr.com/products/software/ecu_upgrade/parts/ECU-20T-EA888-1-T
Id just like to ask is this a 1.4 litre stock at 150bhp?
Hey thanks for commenting! The stock engine is the TFSI 2.0 Litre, that is what I have.
Lol
What kind of improvements in 0-60 did you see from the intake and tune?
Hey there, thanks for commenting and watching! I haven't timed a 0-60 so I don't have a specific number sorry for that. I can say that there is quite a solid difference between stock and now, you can especially feel it because of the much higher torque number. The engine with the intake and tune seems like it breathes much better overall, greater HP and torque just with those modifications can definitely be felt a lot once you launch it off the line. I do have to say though that the downpipe also made a huge difference! In terms of what I liked the most between stage 1 and stage 2, I have to say that stage 1 is definitely worth the money, you won't regret it. Stage 2 changed the sound of the car a lot more and allowed for even less restriction of the engine, which in turn made the tiptronic transmission feel like it shifts just a little better. I'll do my best to get a video of the speedometer up on youtube so you can see the acceleration of the car. If this can help too; I have raced a stock 4WD Ford F150 with the 3.3L ecoboost (5.9 sec 0-60) multiple times and my Q3 beats it hands down. Reported stock 0-60 for the Q3 was 7.8 seconds, so that's a pretty good improvement if you do the math.
@@notsafegarage666 Thank you. I recently installed the IE stage 1 tune on my 2016 premium plus quattro and have been getting 6.3-6.5 consistently, which is a massive improvement from just a tune. The power is good, but the weakness is the 2-3 shift from that little transmission. I wish there was a tune available for those transmissions but to my knowledge there isn't. Curious how difficult a DSG swap would be considering the low cost of a transmission.
@@notsafegarage666 Any recommendations for what kind of intake to purchase? And is there an aftermarket turbo inlet pipe available for the 8U?
In terms of what intake to go with, I think a few are available nowadays. I went with the APR Cold Air Intake simply because of looks and to match with the APR tuning I was getting done. The important part to note is that both the tuner and I had to work together to retrofit the intake kit as it was originally intended for a VW GTI which has the same platform. I know for a fact that CTS Turbo makes quite a few parts for the 8U and MQB base including a Q3 specific cold air intake. I would also add that since many MQB based cars/engines are the same, a turbo inlet pipe could probably be retrofitted as well. Finding a good tuner who knows their way around MQB cars (GTI, Q3, A3, Tiguan, etc) will help a lot. Hope this helps! :)
@@notsafegarage666 Thanks man! I appreciate all your help. Feel free to upload 0-60s/more Q3 content! There's not enough on UA-cam.
Awesome and very tasteful mods all around. You effectively turned it into an “SQ3” :)
Hey there, thanks so much for commenting, I appreciate it!😃 The goal was to keep the car reliable and not too over the top visually. It has been over 45 000 km since the tuning and still going strong!💪🏽 I do still wish we had RSQ3s in North America...😉
@@AnnaBiaBeluskihow
Wheels are on backwards. Does my head in.
Lol true, at least the important part is my tires!😉
The wheels are not on "backwards". These wheels are all the same and there is no left or right, which is on purpose. They do look slightly different from one side of the car to the other but they are not directional.
On the right side they’re going forward and on the left side they’re going backwards , how is that correct if they’re non directional?
Hello what is the ref of your -CTS Turbo 3" Catless Downpipe please ?

The launch control dos it sound like golf 7r?
Hey, thanks for commenting! I unfortunately don't have launch control, I have the 6 speed tiptronic transmission so no TCU tune. The newer Q3's since 2017 have seen a few transmission changes (8 speed now.) Hope this helps!
I really want to get the new q3 and turn it into a "rsq3" i guess. since I live in the USA the RSQ3 isnt sold here but it looks wonderful and I just wish there was a bit more modification support for these cars.
Hey, thanks for commenting! I agree with you there, I wish we had the RSQ3 in North America. I do have to say though that the new Q3's are really good looking on the interior compared to my generation. I have also seen K04 turbo kits for the Q3 that can make them really fast. Although harder to modify, Q3's have so much potential which is why I like them, especially with the newer/quicker transmissions. ⚙️🔥
I have a 21 and I love it I just wish they would of brought the RSQ3 to the U.S cause it’s such a beast 😢 but I’d like to convert mine into one
What spacers did you go with? They fit perfectly!
Hey, thanks for commenting! I went with a staggered spacer setup, helps with cornering turns as well; 20mm in the rear and 15mm in the front. I know ECS tuning has them on their website. Hope this helps! :)
🔥🔥🔥
🔥
perfect, only the launch control was missing🔥
I have a bunch of other cool video ideas I want to make!😎 Waiting to get done with school! Thanks for the support!😃
do you have any engine issue after chipping the car ?
Hey, thanks for commenting! Besides common VW 2.0 maintenance and having to replace a few intake parts with newer Audi/VW OEM parts, everything has been smooth! The car at this very moment is used daily on 91 octane with no check engine lights on at all, even with a catless downpipe and cold air intake, etc. The engine's carbon buildup and cleaning was recently looked at too and it was quite good, engine seems happy with the tune. I like the 91 octane version a lot because the powerband is quite smooth and feels like it is from the factory! 🤟🏽 I have recommended tuning/chipping to many of my own friends and family!
And post more videos!! Love the car
Thank you! Glad to hear it! I am looking forward to getting done with school to start posting more about my cars. I have a bunch of cool ideas for the future! More about the Q3, new stuff about my 1990 944 S2, my cafe racer inspired 1978 Austin Mini 1000, and a whole lot more to come. 😃
Hello I have an Audi q3 what all have you done to your car for the stage 2 Apr how much did it cost what all do I need to buy
Hey, thanks for commenting! If you look in the video description I added a list of what I have done to the car. My best tip for anyone is always find a good tuner/garage near you and they will be more than happy to help you get Stage 1/2/+! I know APR tuning has a dealer locator which is useful, that's how I found someone to flash my car and also do some of the modifications. Let me know if you have any other questions! :)
What do you mean you changed the pcv and the diverted valve?
Also what size wheel spacers?
I have this suv..
I enjoy mine a lot too, it is very comfortable. It is pretty quick now too! :)
@@notsafegarage666 I just contacted APR..where I live in the US...Friday my friend is meeting with them to get his Q7..done..I'll be getting minds done later on..looking forward to getting back to you..👍🏆💥
That's awesome! You and your friend won't regret it I am sure 🤟🏽Looking forward to hearing what you guys think!😎
Complete noob when it comes to modding by q3.. where do I start to get info? Just in general
This is pretty cool. What hp numbers does this put you at
Hey, thanks for commenting! The HP numbers I looked at are directly from the APR website. They state: Stage 2 (91) = around 270 HP and 319 FT Lbs. Stage 2 (93) = around 278 HP and 341 FT Lbs. Here is their website also with the charts and numbers I based myself off. www.goapr.com/products/software/ecu_upgrade/parts/ECU-20T-EA888-1-T
I have posted a new video on my channel with some drive by's, sounds, and closer looks of the car! Thanks for watching, hit like, and subscribe for more!
I have a q3 as well. I got the 6 speed automatic tiptronic transmission, it feels like it doesn't shift in time. Do you feel this problem?
Yeah I have that same transmission and understand what you're talking about. For me the big difference was the high flow downpipe and always running it in sport mode now. It feels like it has smoother and quicker shifting with both of these combined (at least better than stock). It's unfortunate that we don't have the DSG transmissions like in the S3 or Golf R, that would have been nice. But yeah like I said : cold air intake + 3" downpipe + sport mode = better shifts in my own honest opinion.

I have a short clip of the sound when I drive off, I can send you that by email or something if you would like! I apologize for taking some time with a more proper video. Hopefully people can enjoy the cars as much as I do!That's what it's all about :)
What is the custom intake
Had to cut out plastic from the front of the engine bay and create a small support bracket to fit a MK6 VW Gti intake from APR. I believe you can achieve this with other less expensive intakes as well, it's a question of making it fit, but it is the same MQB platform.
Do you have a stock exhaust system?
Not stock! I am running a 3" CTS Turbo catless downpipe. I also had my resonator deleted, only stock component is the backbox/muffler!
Do you have an air intake? I can’t find any for my q3! You don’t have any exhaust tips?
Could you send me the info of your car, I think I will do pretty much the same!
Pierre-Vincent Guignard Yes! I cut out some plastic from the front of my engine bay to fit an APR Carbon Intake meant to be on a MK6 VW Gti, that's the "custom" fit, a bit of DIY required
