    Hi how much the yellow taxi fare from Istanbul airport to Sultanahmet? I heard about the scams from taxi driver. Just a bit confused as I'll be heading there with my elderly father. Thought to take metro but not possible with him

    • @travelcrazycouple2736
      @travelcrazycouple2736 18 днів тому

      @@Dtigernumber1 The taxi fare is around $35 but it’s very easy to get the bus and it is only $6.5 per person. In your case you can take a taxi but before you hop on just confirm the price with the driver and if you pay with credit card just read what they charge you when you tap your credit card. One taxi driver charged me more when we arrived and I found out after he left. There are scams with taxi drivers all over Istanbul. If you take a taxi always ask to turn on the taximeter which is very cheap or tell them how much you willing to pay them. I made another Airport info video you may watch. At the end there are comparisons of different transportation type. But if your father can walk a little bit you can take the elevator outside the airport directly to the buses and the prices are fixed and rides are good and comfortable. If the motor died, then you have to replace it, but if the motor still works but it's leaking, then you have the options to repair it as I did. It still works without leaking for more than 19 months so far.

    Did you rent the car from the airport? What was the typical price for gas & what payment methods are customary? Are gas stations self or full service?

    • @travelcrazycouple2736
      @travelcrazycouple2736 4 місяці тому

      We rented a car before we went on the Economy booking website it was a good deal, and it was from the airport, but i think we were shuttled to the office. We paid both in cash and credit cards. All grocery stores, restaurants, etc. Take credit cards. Just use a credit card without foreign fees, but have some cash on hand if they don't take credit card,like toll or small Shops. The price of gas was around $5 or $6 per gallon or $1.5 per liter, I think. The gas station was full service, so you don't need to fill up yourself. They will do it for you free of charge. When you get the car, take pictures and videos from everywhere, Trunk, under hood, inside, outside. Everywhere you see a scratch, dings or anything and show the guy to write it down on your paper so when you come back, you have proof if they say you did it. In our case, it was easy, and they didn't check too much. Have a nice vacation.Thanks for watching.

    Since it is now over 18 months, do you have an update on how this is holding up? I followed the first half of the steps in this video, and I cannot see where the leak is. I removed scale from the top of the turntable, and I wanted to remove it to examine everything better; however, I see that you did not do that.

    • @travelcrazycouple2736
      @travelcrazycouple2736 5 місяців тому

      After 18 months still no leaks for me and I'm happy. The only thing you need to do is remove the long screws from the outside and clean the surface then you will see the holes. Just apply the glue to cover all the holes or like mine all the surface. I don't have videos from the time was leaking. Maybe I should included that too but I don't have that. In the video you can see the holes. That was the cause of the leak. I hope yours get fixed too. Thanks for watching and good luck.

    • @bgpautomotive
      @bgpautomotive 5 місяців тому

      @@travelcrazycouple2736 I have scraped off some more rust and have found the three or four holes, which are in a similar location to yours. What I do not understand is how everything is sealed along the rotating shaft (on the underside of the turntable and the top of the lower level). Did you just assume that there is no leak at the high point in the center where the shaft rotates, or does the water line typically not go up that high? My dishwasher normally will fill the entire disposal when the dishwasher drains, so I need to make sure there wouldn't be any additional leaks where the vertical driveshaft comes up and connects to the turntable. I just don't want to remove the nut off the top of the shaft, because the nut is seized, and I might round-out the nut.

      @@travelcrazycouple2736 Thank you for following up with me. There must be some opening around the shaft to allow it to spin, unless it is set in some type of axle bearing. I have not done anything yet because I was trying to decide which is the best product to use. Since this is not really urgent, I was thinking of using the Original J.B. Weld Cold Steel instead of the Kwikweld that you used. I also thought about using Bondo in place of the epoxy and then coating everything with Rust-Oleum. What do you think I should try?

    • @travelcrazycouple2736
      @travelcrazycouple2736 4 місяці тому

      @bgpautomotive Thanks for your reply. As you mentioned, the shafts have a bearing, and I think it's already sealed, so you don't need to put any glue up there, so it is free. Regarding glue, you can use anything you like, just it covers the holes and the surface to prevent future holes. I hope yours get fixed. Thanks again
