A bald eagle caught a small fish and dropped it, then picked it up and flew off. Another large bird, probably an osprey, chased it but the eagle kept its prey.

We found a black merlin hunting a scrub jay on the Heritage Farm road. The merlin chased the scrub jay around the tree, but was not successful in catching it.

The kingfisher landed on a snag and tried to catch a fish but missed. A flock of little birds flew in and agitated the kingfisher, who eventually flew off to the bridge.

We watched a couple of osprey taking baths at the Renton Rowing Center, near where the Cedar River dumps into Lake Washington.

This mama cedar waxwing has her hands full with feeding these two fledglings.

Here one of the young osprey in the Central Ave (84th Ave) nest is catching air in the nest. It will leave the nest shortly but is practicing flight in place above the nest.

One of the Maplewood eagle fledglings was rescued today by Kiersti and Rose. Our heroes! Julene and Ralph transported the eagle (and a gull) to PAWS. The eagle's right eye had an issue, and it is being evaluated by PAWS.

One of the Riverbend eaglets sits in the nest tree patiently waiting for the adult to bring in some food.

The young cooper's hawk continued to sit on the branch and call out, then flew.

Ralph found the cooper's hawk juvies at the back of 212th ponds. Here is a video of one of the youngsters.

The Covington Community Park eaglet finished its meal and moves around the nest, picking at scraps and sticks, then branches. This is before the adult flies into the nest.

The eaglet was eating when I got to the nest. It finished, cleaned its beak, then branched. From the branch, it saw the adult flying back to the nest and threw a bit of an eaglet tantrum when the adult started picking over his snacks.
