Haha I also have a thought about the rating I would give the movie around half way through, although for me personally I dont think its ruining my experience overall of watching movies. I just wish Letterboxd would let you turn off seeing the "average ratings" and other peoples reviews.

I had the EXACT same experience as you. Not only that but the number of stars does not tell me anything anymore as for myself. I still like to see the average rating to have an idea of how the film has been received but as far as me giving it just does not work anymore. I look at the rating I just gave and be like, well, this could be one star lower or higher and it would not have made a difference. And just the fact that most times I just don't know what to rate.

New to your channel. Great collection. Gave me some great ideas for some movies. I just started doing videos on UA-cam as well. Looking forward to more of your video.

Thx UA-cam for recommending this lol... Good points and I respect your decision. For me any words to describe how one feels about a movie are way more important than just the star rating. It means almost nothing, also like you said it's impossible to bring like a low budget 50s monster movie and a modern blockbuster on one scale. However, I still like to rate as a small indicator how much I liked a movie overall. I think it's good for others to quickly see what I like, to get to know my taste and stuff. Also most of the times, I let the movie settle for a few days before I give a rating, just so I have a bit of distance and am not overly emotional, I think it works very well. :)

Well here's my ranking I do love my Friday the 13th movies. 12 Jason takes Manhattan or should really be called Jason takes a boat to Vancouver. 11 for me would have to be Jason goes to hell it just didn't feel like a Friday the 13th movie to me. 10 Freddy versus Jason only reason why I'm raking it like this is because it feels more like a nightmare on elm Street movie then a Friday the 13th. movie. 9 Friday the 13th 3D I mean I like the fact that Jason gets his hockey mask and there was a couple good kills in this movie but the special effects were horrible and the acting was terrible.8 Friday the 13th part 5 the beginning this had quite a few problems but there are more forgiving than the other movies. The one character I really do like in this movie was little Reggie. 7 Jason x Kane hodder did a really good job one of the best kills in the franchise was in this movie.6 Friday the 13th the new blood I think this was the best performance of Kane hodder as Jason but I think this would have moved up higher if the kills were not water down. 5 the og the original Friday the 13th it started it all it's a classic in some weird way I think Pamela Voorhees is more scary than Jason.4 Friday the 13th part 2 everything they did in the original they did a little better in this movie.3 the Friday the 13th remake I love the Jason I love everything in this movie. these to kind of go back and forth between 1 and 2 as of right now number 2 Friday the 13th part 4 the final chapter this movie was like perfect 5/5 for me and my number 1 for me is Friday the 13th part 6 Jason lives perfect another 5/5 for me.

The slip box is nice but I preferred the colored slip cover. And I gotta wait 2 fukkin months for that version. Ridiculous 2 months for a different slip cover. 😅

There’s a few seconds in the first 2 minutes of a weird skipping I can’t explain! Outside of that, enjoy! 🤘🏻

Friday the 13th 2009 is amazing!

Never Hike Alone trilogy is good, but the best fan film is Jason Rising. I own that on bluray! It’s free on UA-cam. So good!

Every f13 is absolute garbage cinema. best is the remake which is a 2/5. also the og is one of the least enjoyable horror movies ive ever seen.

Hot Take : Rob Zombies Halloween 2 and Halloween Ends are some of the best in the series. They go beyond what a normal Slasher movie is so post to be and becomes more of a character study on what actually happens to people who go through a traumatic event.

Not sure if its a hot take but its an opinion i stand strongly by. 85 to 90% of rape revenge movies are exploitive and garbage

Friday the 13th Part 7 is the best of the series. Best Jason, best final girl, and best kills.

Umbrella put the Night Owls Broadcast Cut on the bluray. You breezed through it like it was nothing on the special features. It's what the VHS is, but I guess they did a digital version for the bluray. It was never listed on the website either, which makes it a bit of a bonus. I really like it, as you watch the Broadcast Cut, it makes the actual movie feel more like the documentary. I don't think any other release has that cut. Is it perfect... no. Is it cool... yeah!

How come you didn't choose the 4K edition from Second Sight of Late Night with the Devil?

I skipped on the umbrella release of Late Night but damn that is a cool set. I ordered the 4k from Second Sight. The movie is so good!

Never really used Letterboxed. I do use imdb and have been doing so for about 15 years, with around 6000 movies and shows rated. I love using it as a log of what I watched and how much I liked it. Knowing how many movies I saw in each year, helps me prioritize films from years I saw less in and so does knowing what genres I tend to watch and what niches of countries I tend to touch. For me, logging and rating, is a big part of watching movies. But at the same time I never had the problem you have... never really gave the rating that much thought or attention.

Happens the same to me while I watch a movie 😂 The solution is to give it time, because instant ratings never hold up

I noticed the same thing too when I was deep in Letterbox. Throughout the entire movie, I would just be crafting the quippy opening lines to my review. It got to a point where I wasn't even enjoying movies as entertainment anymore, they were moreso a means to an end.

I give this video three stars.

I know this is easier said than done but I try not to overthink it and I don’t treat my ratings as set in stone.

I used to not rate any movies on Letterboxd because I didn’t know how to quantify every different type of film on there. But then I realized I was doing the films I loved- and wanted to champion- a disservice by not giving them a 5 star rating. And even movies I thought were really good that I could give a 4 star ratings to. The star rating helps to quickly communicate to other people how much you love a film. So for myself, I don’t log a film on Letterboxd that I don’t like or think is below average. Because I wanna use the app to keep track of what I like and what the good cinema is, not the bad cinema. So the lowest rating I ever give is 2.5 stars, meaning average. And if I think a film is only worth 2 stars or less, I don’t log it because I’d rather just forget it even exists if I think it’s crap. A film doesn’t have to be Lawrence of Arabia or 2001 to get a 5 star rating. There are plenty of low budget exploitation movies that deserve 5 stars as well.
