Mike Baggett - MyFadedMemories

My goal is to preserve old historic film and reconnect families to their past. I use a RetroScan Universal frame by frame capture system to digitize 8mm and 16mm film. I edit the footage in Adobe Premiere on an iMac 5K system. Constructive criticism is welcomed.

From the 8mm film collection of John Herron Rowden, Sr. I suspect this film was shot in 1958-59 but please comment below if you can date it more precisely. Any additional info on the content of the film is appreciated. I also have several more ENHS films which I will post shortly.

Dedication of Butler High School, Augusta,GA. Fall 1960. The original film was transferred to a VHS tape resulting in a severe loss of quality. I’m still hoping to find the original film for a fresh transfer.

BHS Class of ‘68 Dinner February 2019
impressive
I was a 40’s kid, and yes, these are the 40’s got some just like these.
I stayed there in 1981. I was a 17 year old Brit. I studied California and Florida at school. The trip was so exciting. I loved everything about American life. I didn't want to go home. After leaving college I planned on returning but never did.
I should be invited to play but then again there is NO one there like me at 80 yrs old with a Purple Heart and 5 Bronze Stars and hits the ball like I do
I remember mama talking about the monkey. I don't know if it was that one or not but she talked about one of them
Really enjoyed the footage! Like a Time Machine!!!
So many fond memories. I went to this school from 1988 to 1993. Kindergarten theough 5th grade. I square danced on the stage in the cafeteria with a crush I had up until I left high school. I remember having spring flings and festivals. I remember so many things. Seeing this video was pretty special.
I moved to Atlanta in 2001 I remember being in my class room here at wheeled road on 9/11/01 as when Aaliyah died I got my first kiss here and my first fight to many memories it broke my heart to see the remodeled it I went from 3rd-5th
Was good friends with some of Pappy Lonergan's grandkids, the Morris boys, Used to drive their Cushman Eagle on the track and catch tadpoles in the pond.
So, which one of those cowboys is you?
So many memories of this place today was my last day there I was there from 2nd to 5th that school had a glow up there is now a second floor some teachers left some are still here some retired
Started kindergarten in 1988 was there until 5th grade! Some of my best memories happened here! ❤
Wish I'd been there.
I was born in 53 an been to every parade down town when I was a kid..thanks to my grandma...them were good times back then..food and gas was cheep, cars were better, people were more kind hearted..life was just better
That’s neat… my mom and dad are across the street with there 55 Pontiac StarChief!
How cool is that! 😊😊😊
The toy clock you see the toddler grabbing was a popular nursery gift that came out in 1940, was probably a gift for the newborn. The bases were blue for boys, the clock sides were pink for girls, as I recall.
Appreciate that!
In my childhood, my main admiration was for the Christmas tree, not gifts. I adored to enjoy the flickering of lametta, Christmas tree balls and garlands in the darkness of the night.
Everybody was so 😊 happy.
Appreciate all your hard work..nice memories
I wonder if the kids are still alive, they are super old now if they are.
Adorable!
no wonder all the grandparents want to go back to a ''simpler time'' no wrapping, simple gifts of wooden toys and books and dolls, easy to buy when that's all there was, not like the variety of children's needs today. PSappleBOXx5/13 okay, here's connect 4 go play
Looks like late 50s early 60s to me.
Yes ~ I thought so too
I think I’ll locate the original film and look for an edge code. That should narrow down the date. Appreciate the comments.
See description for additional info about date
So I've done a little more research. Since there's no date code on the film itself, I decided to research the mother's hairstyle. It looks like the "Victory Roll" style which would have been popular around 1945 and later.
@@99baggett Thank You For Your Clarification~ Watching it again I still would put it later just based on what I am seeing ~ Perhaps it was late 40's ~Either Way It Is A Lovely Piece of Film ~
PЯӨMӨƧM 😇
Must of had money. Nice quality film camera. WWII and the dads are home? 🤔 My dad was on a warship in the Pacific until the Japanese surrendered. Kid in snow suit looked like me😛🤣
Could have been after the war. It just says 40s. But, yes, very wealthy family
One child in the film was 6 weeks old. He could have been a baby boomer conceived shortly after the end of the war.
That scary chimp
Most people don't realize the subtleties in the soundtrack. Nice job on cutting the track to end precisely with the movie (rather than just fading out).
#13 is Clennie Pearl Redd (Jr) also called "C.P." He is my grandfather. He was killed at the Jackson, SC dragstrip in 1960.
number 7 is a bad boy
Except for the clothing styles, cars, etc., Augusta still looks about the same. I’ve lived in the CSRA for 20 years and the city is stagnant in appearance. No improvement, or changes, have been made that I’ve seen.
Not true currently stay here and a lot has changed. A lot of changes started over a decade ago and not many people wear dress clothes as casual wear and no overalls. That changed way before I was born in '79.
That’s my mom and dad standing in front of their 1955 Pontiac StarChief Catalina!
Excellent!
Just finding this. Love it! Thanks for sharing.
Wanted to see what was playing at the Imperial Theater but the film flashed by its marquee too fast!
Nice step back in time!
Awh cute and kinda sad the dog are probably dead
Thanks for uploading.Could watch this sort of footage all day. 1987 my era for watching golf.Live in Scotland-would love to go there one day.Everyone says that Augusta is way hillier than it looks on tv.Is this true ?.
It is. I’ve played it a couple of times and it’s amazing how different it looks from the tees than it does on tv. I live about 5 miles from the course and it’s just about the most beautiful piece of property I’ve ever seen.
@@99baggett Must be amazing walking down the 11th hole seeing 11 with 12 and 13 in the distance. Would definitely be a goosebump moment for me.
And I would give anything to be able to play St. Andrews
I went Butler high school in the early 90’s a lot has changed
amazing video. The greatest... Seve.... rip
He didn't recognise them.....Ballesteros and Olazabal
I can’t believe they completely removed that waterfall pool.
I’m with you. It was a really a cool sight...
Would you be kind enough to allow Project Gridiron to archive this game on our channel? Thanks and GREAT job restoring the game film!
Absolutely!
This is really cool raw footage. Thanks for posting this.
I love their dresses!!! ❤️
Da Hill is crumbling atm
Wonder where in Chattanooga those pictures were taken
So many wonderful memories of Wheeless Road Elementary! Thank you for this video...a true walk down Memory Lane. I remember the Valentine's Day Dance we had in the lunchroom. I got a new dress..and actually had a dance card that boys signed in order to save a dance with them.Special teachers, and of course, Mr. Ward, our principal! I will always remember and cherish my time at WRS...
Karen Pinner I appreciate the kind comments. We were lucky to have grown up when we did. Great memories!
Karen Pinner Mr ward is my landlord
Cool to see the straight T offense and the standard 5-4-2 d3fense of the period. Remember it so well. I'll have to share this with my son to show him how we played.. Thanks!
Thanks for the video. Great to se Seve with Olazábal and Gary Player
I rediscovered this one a few days back and decided to digitize and share. I remember lugging my huge camcorder around the golf course. It was one of those monsters that you balance on your shoulder. I couldn’t believe I was seeing Payne Stewart.
Eduardo Romero from Argentina is the 4th player in the Seve group......fantastic ball striker and a great swing....xx
Any help identifying the drivers is appreciated...
I was there in kindergarten- 3rd grade
