After turning 45, I started to dislike socializing and found myself craving alone time much more than before. This is a stark contrast to my younger years, from childhood to early adulthood, when I loved lively gatherings and spending time eating and having fun with many friends. My personality now is completely the opposite of what it used to be.
These days, participating in social activities in real life often feels uninteresting. However, I can’t reveal this true feeling, as it might dampen everyone else’s mood. I’ve also started frequently declining invitations from friends. Over time, those friends who used to remember me and invite me gradually drifted away.
In such situations, I can’t help but feel a sense of loss deep inside. People really are greedy, aren’t they? Disliking socializing yet still wanting friends to remember you when there’s an event! XD
45歳を過ぎてから、社交が嫌いになり、一人で過ごす時間への欲求が以前よりもずっと強くなりました。子供時代から青年時代にかけて、賑やかな場や友人たちと一緒に食事や遊びを楽しむのが好きだった頃とは、まったく正反対の性格になったのです。
今では、現実の生活の中での社交的な行動がしばしばつまらなく感じます。しかし、この本当の感情を表に出すわけにはいきません。みんなの興をそがないためです。そして、友人からの誘いを頻繁に断るようになりました。その結果、覚えてくれたり、誘ってくれたりする友人たちも次第に遠ざかっていきました。
そんな状況の中で、やはり心の中で失望感を抱いてしまうことがあります。本当に人間は欲張りですね。社交が嫌いなのに、友人にはイベントがあるときに自分を覚えていてほしいなんて！XD
