You have to develop your team’s psychological confidence, which includes encouraging people to disagree agreeably without fear of retribution and knowing they’ll be taken seriously. All three elements are important. You must encourage people to voice their concerns without fear of retribution, or they won’t report problems or offer new ideas. People need standards for agreeable disagreement, or...

    I see macarthur as an egotistical megalo maniac. He abandoned thousands of men to a fate worse than death with the bullshit vow of (I will return) not we, as in a collective force, I. As in the individual. He was a shit leader in my opinion, and not to be emulated as a developing officer or NCO.

      You Mac haters are disgusting and worse than cancer. MacArthur was the greatest military servicemember in U.S. history. Sir Alan Brooke put it best when he said that MacArthur was the greatest general or admiral in all of WWII, Allied or Axis. Brooke was the head general of the British Imperial General Staff, the UK version of George Marshall. He said what MacArthur did with so few men and able to hold out in Bataan and Corregidor after being abandoned by Nimitz and FDR was amazing as well as his island hopping campaigns with few soldiers and very few ships and aircraft carriers unlike what REMF Nimitz had. MacArthur was a Frontline general unlike the REMFs you worship like Nimitz, Marshall, Bradley, and Eisenhower.

    He would have went down as one of the greatest and more than likely the 34th President of the United States had he not thought he was above President Truman. He deserved to be fired. Even tho Truman left the Presidency with a 22% approval rating he goes down in history as one of the best Presidents in history. In a side note he was the best accidental President of the United States

    • @nogoodnameleft

      He didn't think he was above Truman since he immediately told Ridgway that he was relieved and he didn't fight it. He did the right thing which was not to support a loser strategy like what Truman wanted. Truman wanted MacArthur to agree with him and then take blame for the resulting stalemate and horrible situation in Korea. What Truman did to Mac was similar to what LBJ did to the JCS during Vietnam. Truman was the worst POTUS in history and the way he treated MacArthur was reprehensible. Good riddance to Truman and I am glad he failed to win another term in 1952. He was going to run for a 3rd term if he hadn't lost the NH primary.

    • @KansasCityLights
      @KansasCityLights 7 місяців тому

      And I appreciate your opinion. I’m basing my opinion on what President Truman said about MacArthur. MacArthur wanted to do what MacArthur wanted to do instead of doing what President Truman told him to do.

      @@KansasCityLights Truman was a slimy politician. He had a far worse ego than MacArthur and the buck stops with Truman except when he blames MacArthur for EVERYTHING. I think Truman even blamed MacArthur for his own administration officials who were embroiled in numerous corruption scandals which led to his horrible approval ratings and defeat in the 1952 NH primary to a nobody senator. What Truman did when he cut the military budget by almost half from 1947 to 1950 and mothballed 70% of the Navy ships was what led to the Pusan Perimeter and later the disaster when the Chinese illegally fired the first shots and started murdering Americans on non-Chinese soil. For some reason Truman and his fan club never want to talk about that. He was in the process of abolishing the USMC and he fought against WWII admirals when he pushed to mothball USN ships and replace them with the poor quality B-36 Peacemaker. The B-36 was solely made because Truman received a bunch of illegal bribes from Boeing and other corrupt people.

    My friend Jeremy cam home on leave from the Army and with him came Ryan Fritsche, he spent the week hanging out with us, I got a DUI with him asleep in the car after we got off the Elk river. we had a great time with Ryan and it was devastating to hear of his death a short time after his visit to Oklahoma. My friend and brother Jeremy Brown still speaks of Ryan and we often drink toasts to him.

    I remember sitting next to you on OP brick and when this conversation and events happened. I remember we managed a lot of the CAS for them. I remember getting worried and asking if the Captain was ok. I’ve never felt so hopeless we couldn’t get across that river…

      @@chriskolenda thanks but not me, it was The platoon FO Lausch and I was just a marksmen on the OP that day. Captain Bostick was my first ever CO tho in Legion Co.. I remember those enemy combatants being hopped up on opium and being crazy enough to engage the Apache who then dropped pods as it buzzed right over us for a bee line to Naray. I remember that being one of the first craziest missions. We stayed out for something like 28 days after loosing SSG Fritsche. I talked to him when he flew out to Keating, it was his first mission. I remember my buddy letting me hold Maj. Bosticks mangled rifle in HQ while going on R&R. I can remember holding it and trying to piece the pictures with the sounds and radio chatter we were hearing that day. I still hurt from falling out of that Blackhawk in the bomb crater when we went back to the hill top he was attacked from in Operation Donkey punch/strike. I really wish I could see the analytic from that deployment and how many engagements we had, against how many enemy combatants, our estimated ekia, damage, collateral damage. So many questions Like did we perform? Did we make a difference? How did we compare that 15 months historically and militarily to everything relative to the subject? What’s it’s place in history, if it even has one? Why did we even hold Lybert, Kamu, Keating and the check points and our OP’s? We gave so much to those those valleys. It always felt like the stories of Lowell, Fritsche, Maj Bostick, the National guard Maj that was killed at check point 5 those guys out 15 months never really got told as crazy as it was.

    • @chriskolenda
      @chriskolenda 2 роки тому

      @@WildHerb Read Jake Tapper's book, The Outpost. The middle section is about our deployment. I don't remember the number of engagements we had, but there were a lot in the summer of 2007. During the winter, we motivated a large insurgent group to stop fighting and switch sides. They fought the Taliban until the very end in 2021. I'm hoping the Honor Ride can help tell the stories of our six paratroopers. Thanks for being there with us. I hope you can come to the reunion on October 22 in DC.
