there is no sound when jason talks
Thanks for catching that. 🙏 I re-uploaded a new version where that should be fixed.
The answer to the beginning was no. Never. I started at 17yrs old and always got a call and interview. I had one trick. Make your images color sorted. Shade sorted. Reds to blues to blacks etc all grouped. In a grid like dribbble. Then simply my name and my role “Drew Andersen Product Design Veteran, living in Seattle | then a one sentence blurb and that’s my hero Never had a single case study.
Sounds like a fascinating episode
This is really awesome
Thank you. I’m glad you liked it. 🙂

@@chris-abad Is there any way I can connect with you Chris I am a self-learning UX designer your videos resonate with me a lot it would be really helpful for me & they would mean a lot to me.
@@AshishYadav-dq7ne I write a little on LinkedIn (linkedin.com/in/chrisabad) and mentor through ADPList (adplist.org/mentors/chris-abad).
@@chris-abad Thanks
Would love a video about articulating design decisions to stakeholders/getting buy-in 💪
Me, too!
I’m teaching a course on using design storytelling to help overcome resistance from stakeholders and get buy-in. One of the techniques I cover is storyboarding. If you’re curious, I just uploaded a short video on the topic here: maven.com/p/6a01d3/how-to-map-your-product-story-with-a-simple-storyboard?NDg2NDY2&
initially impressed, but couldn't help but peek at chris's linkedin: he states "formerly dropbox, square, google...etc" as social proof when in reality he barely spent 1 year at dropbox and square and barely 2 at google. not sure how effective someone can be as a leader when their tenure at these places is so short... it may actually speak to a bigger story about his career and i think anyone reading this should be skeptical of this person's content. if you see him pushing courses in the future, you know he's gone full charlatan.
That was helpful. I have struggled to explain my design for a while. I'll go through that book.
I’m glad it helped. 🙂
20 years in UX …This discipline hasn’t been “officially “ existing as UX …
google it
Sure. Then maybe it's a "I was doing UX design before it was even called UX design." 😛 One of the first books that really turned me on to this field was "Don't Make Me Think," by Steve Krug. Originally published in 2000.
@loopzz5526 Actually, good call. First coined by Don Norman in 1995.
Great video, invaluable insights.. I wish I saw this video before my Google interview. Thank you, man.
I'm glad you found it helpful. Hopefully your interview went well.
Thanks for the advice. My biggest takeaways to apply towards my own is making case studies a bit more tailored emphasizing more on the process and secondly creating different portfolios relative to the roles. Additionally, I’m better at UI but wanting to learn more and evolve in UX. Nonetheless, I’d still love a video on UI examples as you mentioned! THANKS Chris 😊
Great, thank you for the feedback. 🙏
So refreshing, super direct and clear. Directional with specific actions to take to improve. Thank you for sharing your insights!
