This CD is where I first heard “Pistol.” Just a few months later I got to see them play it live at SXSW in Austin, Tx. It was my most favorite concert experience ever because there weren’t a ton of people there so me and my two buddies who loved them got to see them up close and personal and it felt almost as though they were there just for us. Needless to say when they went into “Pistol” it was like an awakening. Absolutely heartbreaking to hear about Bert’s passing. It’s too bad “All the Fun That We Missed” isn’t on streaming services. Anyways, I took video of them at an in-store performance the next day in Austin but I’ve never uploaded it anywhere. I’m gonna have to dig it up and do so now. RIP Bert.

Remember i bought a copy of this on 7 inch when i was about 10, and that was in '76. Dont know what happened to it. Epitomises the 60s undoubtedly.

This is great, thanks for sharing. I’ve always liked him and his music even though I never met him but did have an email exchange with him once about 10 years ago. He was very encouraging to me about a song I sent him. His openness about his faith in Jesus is also very impressive. Rip Bert. Also any chance someone can post the track list for this show?

Being born and raised in Brooklyn N.Y. you don't get much of an introduction to country music. For many of you George Jones may have lead you to Elvis Costello however, for me it worked the other way around. What A Good Year For The Roses on a Elvis Costello album called Almost Blue took me down the George Jones rabbit hole. This was an amazing show and I'd like to thank Ricky Skaggs for bringing us what I consider musical gold. Rest In Peace George, this Brooklyn boy is still listening.

Thank you so much for posting the entire show! I used to have this recorded on VHS but it was destroyed several years ago… so happy to be able to see the whole show again instead of just clips. Grew up listening to George Jones, and Elvis Costello is brilliant here as he so often is.
