I'm so very sorry for your loss, Ari. I remember thinking that grieving over the loss of a pet shouldn't be so hard, but you're absolutely right that they were a part of your family. I cried and grieved for months after the loss of my childhood dogs, and it sometimes still hits me in the middle of the night. I'm glad you've been taking time for yourself! I am so sorry for your loss, Ari. Losing a pet truly feels like losing a member of a family. Lost our childhood dog earlier this year as well and it was very painful. I still feel her presence with me everyday and sometimes I even have dreams of her being around me. Sending you all love and virtual hugs and take your time to heal! You are strong! 💐

Oh Ari. Grieving is such a weird, complex time that affects everyone differently. I agree whole heartedly. I refer to Duchess and Honey as my two children. They are my babies, and will always be treated as such! I am so happy to see you back on my UA-cam homepage. She has a built a blurb template using the beats, which strengthens the stakes, before the time clock runs out, and hints of death. The book is a road map for any genre, and is great for picking up anywhere for a bit of fun learning, with some practical index card movements, to make sure you hit the beats at the right time in your story, a great thing to fall back on when stuck, editing, or drafting... I learned today that I've been writing blurbs with your template without realizing it haha. This is gonna sound weird but I write blurbs as part of my brainstorming process. I think it just helps me narrow down the idea of what the book is about and I go from there. Also helps me set the mood and tone of the book <3 thank you for this wonderful video Ari! (and I also love the dark mode screen-- my eyes appreciate it so much)

Hey Ari, I’m very new to writing and I’ve never heard of a “dialogue draft”. Can you explain? In some of your clips, it looked like you may have typed a name and text beneath, is this the dialogue? I am probably the most scared of writing dialogue and it not sounding like real people but very proper robots instead.

First off, congrats on finishing your dialog draft, that’s so exciting! I had never heard of one before you, but it sounds super interesting. Writing on,y the dialog, who said it and how, and maybe a few sentences of scene description in between sounds like a fantastic way to not get bogged down in excessive detail and just get to the core of a story. I’m editing my mystery/thriller novel right now, using a truly impressive amount of color-coded index cards, post-its, and page flags, lol. I put them all on a tri fold poster board instead of on the wall or floor because seeing it 24/7 will make me want to work on it all the time, which isn’t great for me. This way, I fold it away and so I literally can’t work on it until I open it again. That, plus only doing it for like three or four thirty-minute sprints at a time before a longer break has really helped me not get burnt out. I’m actually excited to edit, which has never happened. Your dialog draft is totally a draft! Every draft of a story improves it, there’s no ‘oh, it’s just a [insert type of draft]’. I also have a hard time with blurbs. I am so long winded in general, plus I just get so excited about the story I end up including major spoilers when I try to write one. I have to learn to majorly pare back and be mysterious, lol. (I also love all your adorable mugs.) Congrats on finishing the draft again 🎉 and thanks for the video!
