It would be easy to click away from this video because they are over-talking and using a lot of research language. (Guys, the most important part of giving a speech is - "Who is my audience?" The most common mistake medical professionals make is talking for *each other*, not for the audience) But the content is fascinating, and it boils down to this: 1. Consumption of Omega 6 is shortening your life. 2. Consumption of Omega 3 is also shortening your life, but not by as much. 3. If you dilute the Omega 6 you are eating with Omega 3, you will live a little longer than someone who's just eating Omega 6. 4. If you lower/eliminate both Omega 6 and Omega 3, your cells will naturally regulate the amount of Omega 3 they need, and you'll live the longest.

Thanks for your dive into the details of impaired glucose oxidation and the cell's fallback to lipid oxidation and glycolysis. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be research that has uncovered the causes of this metabolic impairment. You mention the research found that lean individuals had healthy glucose metabolism; however, it is well known that the number of TOFI (those who are thin with fatty organs) is also significantly increasing and has resulted in many thin with T2D. Whatever is causing impaired glucose metabolism is likely highly associated with the increase of visceral fat. You both may want to provide more info on this as well as info on what may be driving this overall descent into impaired metabolism. If you think you have some clues that should be investigated, you should send a note to Jay Bhattacharya who will soon be cleaning house at the NIH. Hopefully, he will be redirecting its vast healthcare research budget to areas that will address the causes and actual cures of our chronic disease epidemic. I think he knows that GLP1 agonists is not the solution :>).

Unless rodent tests administer the same ratio (grams per kilogram body weight per day) of the tested product as humans have in their diet, the tests are totally invalid. That would mean a rodent may get 1 or 2 drops of seed oil, lard, etc per day. Rodent lifespans are not even long enough for a valid study.

This is where I get confused as to whether I can eat to appetite or not - on one hand you're saying that CICO is bad for you and that you dont need a deficit to lose weight, but then you're saying you dont want to eat more than your body needs - if I have fat to lose, does that mean I'm eating more than I 'need' ie: should I eat less than I want becuase what I want is more than I need 😅. Plus, mike always makes the distinction of not wanting to have 'large deficites', which suggests that a small deficit is necessary. Is it? In reality, surely no one just keeps smashing in food they're not hungry for - that would be horrible... but if theyre hungry, its hard not to eat. Yes, 'all in' is an issue becuase of poor food choices and essentially overwhelming the poorly functioning system, but in the end, can you trust your satiety, providing youre eating within the relms of what you guys outline?? Or should I be trying to hit a calorie goal based on a calculator?? Becuase that would be uncomfortable for me...

There has to be some kind of restriction. Look at nature. Why you see all those healthy lean animals without any metabolic syndrome etc.? Because they burn insane amount of calories and because they are often hungry.. If you get animal abundance of food even good food for them and you don't force them to move their body what you start to see? Obese animals like cats, dogs. They would have the same problems like we do.. Btw guys you are restricting calories as well. By having much smaller list of foods that you eat it is much harder to eat excess of calories on daily basis. Like I don't eat dairy and gluten and seed oils. Just that alone prevents me form having regular meals from fasts foods where I would get 2000kcal meal easily.. So you are not so different from carnivore or low fat vegans for example.. You avoid by default the biggest calories sources of most people. I would like to know your real numbers how many calories you guys burn and how many are you eating. Yeah you don't count calories, but like I said with this no PUFA, no this no that I think the number of calories will be somewhat low.. Maybe 3000-3500kcal max which is far from "wow this Ray Peat diet works so amazing I can't eat as much fruit, saturated fats as possible and I don't gain weight". In fact people who could eat A LOT even on Ray Peat style of diet they eneded up obese with fatty liver etc.. So like I said even you guys are the example of calorie restriction is a must for good health.. If I learned something about our body it is the fact that the body does much better with little less than with little more.. That is simply from our long evolution where you had to burn a lot of calories to get maybe the same amount that you just burned and if you could eat in abundance like some bear or something it was before the winter. So you can survive a long time with almost no food.. But today there is no winter for us. Uber eats works 24/7 whole year and so therefore we simply need to have some self discipline like you guys have to not eat fries and donuts fried in vegetable oils etc.. So pls stop making fun of other dietary approaches, because you are one of them... Btw what I would like to know when you don't have any fruit or anything that you eat around, but you could eat some chips fried in sunflower oil or whatever that you know that there is a lot if oxidized seed oils etc.. would you eat that junk or would you fast? I would fast and I think you would to. Because you know very well that that's better for our body..

Hi Jay/Mike, If you seemingly digest starch well (no bloating/ digestive discomfort/ gas) and you're not crashing within a couple of hours of eating them (can comfortably last 4/5 hours before getting hungry again), is it OK to eat starch at every meal?? Say, 3/4 times a day?? I find, on a very low starch diet, I soon become run-down, get sensitive teeth, yeast infections flare and my pulse drops... I was worried about them possibly being easy to over-eat and then ending up getting stored as fat... is there anything inherant about starches in particular that make that a likely...?? Or is it just any excess substrate, no matter the macro...? TIA

    • @sunny_gt123
      @sunny_gt123 День тому

Berries don't have a lot of carbs in them... could be that you're eating too much protein and not enough carbs. Protein stimulates insulin as well, so if you dont have a high enough carb/ proteain ratio, the insulin mops up all the sugar in your blood, and you crash.... that's why Mike/Jay recommend at least 1:1, or better, 2:1 carb to proteain ratio x

For people with adrenal issues keeping blood sugar stable as possible is key. That's why it is recommended to eat only low GI complex carbs and always with protein, fat and fiber. Fruit as carb source and even worse liquid diet like "Ray Peat diet" glass of orange juice with glass of milk is complete disaster.. Most people can't or even don't want to eat 6 times a day and so I can't imagine eating 3 times a day and having fruit or even worse juice as a carb source. I like fruit/juices but only if it snack or fuel during activity where I can't sit down and eat meat with starches.. When I was on Ray Peat diet I felt like drug addict only in this case my drug was food. I would have to drink or eat fruits with and drink milk etc. like every hour to not end up with severe hypoglycemia.. I can't imagine in what world it is a good thing to every 2-3 hours spike blood sugar and force the body pump insulin all the time. People on Ray Peat forum struggled all the time with this insane diet. You don't have to be brain surgeon to figure out that eating balanced meal that digest slowly and releases glucose into the blood over couple of hours is better for not spiking insulin too much and end up with high stress hormones(or people who have issues with adrenals with hypogylcemia...) than eating very easy to digest fruit or even worse drink the meat like with juice and milk..

Which is ironic because he said himself that more than 5000iu of vit A can inhibit thyroid function. Now try to eat under 5000iu of vit A when all you eat are high vit A foods... It is a joke. People with slow metabolism are vit A and copper toxic already. Because they metabolize them and eliminate them very slowly.. Btw I do agree that Ray himself never said "this is the diet" but he mentioned the same foods again and again for decades + people close to him like Danny Roddy pushed diet like glass of orange juice, glass of milk.. Haidut drinking coca cola on the podcasts thinking how great and smart idea that is etc.. Finding that forum was disaster for most people. I am not a doctor, but you MIGHT benefit from a brief fast to force all your numbers down and then start fresh with the diet aspect. I cannot afford to lose weight at my tiny size, or I'd go on a fast too.

@@borz55 I don't feel knowledgeable enough to recommend specifics other than a water fast. If I was going to do one to force my sugar level down, I'd probably consider a week.

Fasting doesn't necessarily cause fat loss, the weight loss seen from fasting is mostly lean mass. There are also big problems with protein-only diets - for example, increased stress hormones because a stress response is needed to convert protein to glucose for fuel. Forcing your body to burn your body fat by restricting fuel is also a bad idea in general because it turns down metabolic function and you'll end up storing the fat as you're trying to lose it. A better idea is to focus on improving glucose utilization.

Hello, I have adrenal exhaustion/fatiuge, hypothyroidism and sibo. I'm bed/house bound. I also have adrenaline dysautonomia as a result. Have either of you had experience with clients like this? My situation is very extreme. You summed up my journey in this video very well. Including the use of steroids no longer feeling like they help me anymore.

This is great advice. I spent 10+ years on low carb diet, so proud of myself because I believed I was the epitome of health based on everything I was told from medical experts everywhere. At first, I lost weight, felt clearer minded, and had more energy. However, over time, I was increasingly exhausted and depressed for years. My glucose and cholestrol labs were perfect, but my thyroid and other hormones were plummeting. Eventually, i found out my testosterone was so suppressed; it was lower than a woman in menopause despite being in my early 30s. I came across the books Startch Solution by Dr. John McDougall and Mastering Diabetes by Cyrus and Robbie (idr last names) and couldn't wrap my head around the idea that adding carbs would actually improve insulin sensitivity. It was just so opposite of everything preached by every expert out there, but they had thousands of testimonials and people swearing it worked, so i gave it a try. Within 4 months of switching from low carb to WFPB with 200+ carbs a day, my testosterone was back to normal levels, my T3 had increased, and my energy/mood levels were way better. Oh, and I'd lost about 20 lbs. I so wish that I'd found out about this sooner, so I tell everyone I can.

How much does muscle mass matter? If you have low muscle mass, would that limit the amount of glucose receptors that could be used to soak up any excess?

I can’t listen to podcast with the giggling ever minute. It’s meant to be about health not to be like SNL. It’s like when my 7 year old daughter has friends over and all giggling over silly things as normal for 7 yr old girls do so ok. But here is really out of place and what is the point. Just a waste of time the constant giggling. Nothing really funny. I listen to other podcast by Huberman, Attia, and Asprey and not this constant giggling. Just my opinion and maybe some others too.

October/November will be James Webb Telescope finding "biologics/biological signatures" in TRAPPIST 1/Alpha Mensae Star Systems, and the release of "Project Coral Lane" which I don't know enough about, I just know it has to do with this subject. Running parallel to This, World War 3 is allowed to start any time between right now and this time next year. Leading up to World War 3 during the same time frame we will see Israel's Dome of the Rock being destroyed and ushering in biblical prophecy, along with the Afghanistan Taliban government announcing their allegiance to the United States and the West for the upcoming World War 3. This will be accepted by the United States and confirmed by the United Nations. Then by mid 2026 they will interrupt World War 3 with a fake alien invasion. Then by the end of 2026 They will announce through the United Nations that in order to come together to defeat a common enemy we have to put our petty differences to the side and our borders to the ground and become one nation under God flying the United Nations banner, with the United Nations founder the United States AKA The Majestic 12 group at the head of the table with the UN permanent members sitting on the board. Then around mid-2027 the Galactic Federation of Light, and a few other extraterrestrial species, will so-called help us defeat the so-called bad aliens; AKA programmed life forms (PLFs)flying alien reproduction vehicles. (ARVs) They will make it look like a good fight and then hit the off switch and say we defeated this so-called enemy, and by the end of 2027 everything will be over and we will be included as an entire Society into the Galactic Federation of Light and begin to rebuild, without all the undesirables they got rid of in the process, alongside their so-called "acceptable" collateral damage to obtain MJ-12's "Full Spectrum Dominance." Their deceptive disclosure plan has been put right in front of you leading up to this. Telling you that aliens are a "THREAT TO NATIONAL SECURITY" and they know that because they've "studied" it.. Acting like programs are being leaked to identify #alien craft as "threats" so that's what you're looking at them as. The whole point of releasing this James Webb Telescope information is to convince you that not only are aliens real, but they're on their way... And they may or may not be a threat. That way you accept it as reality when they interrupt their manufactured World War III with the fake alien invasion.. It's ALL a lie!

The first five studies cited in this video involve the use of omega 3 and omega 6 oils in a processed (supplement) form, not omega 3 consumed as part of food. Since omega 3 and omega 6 oils are delicate they are easily damaged by processing, and this is a common problem. These studies indicate that processed omega 3 and omega 6 oils are harmful. But this conclusion should in no way be conflated with omega 3 and omega 6 consumed as part of food that is unprocessed and undamaged. Wild animal fat, particularly from fatty fish and game meats, is rich in omega-3. Game meats have higher omega 3 content than pasture raised cows. Pasture raised cows have higher omega 3 than CAFO cows. The healthier the animal, the more naturally it is raised, the higher the omega 3 content. Humans arguably are best adapted to consume the healthiest type of animals which happen to be the one with the highest omega 3 content. In other words, a higher omega 3 content meat may be more appropriate for the human diet that a low omega 3 content. Consuming animals has always been a natural part of the human diet and there are no animals that are without omega 3 in their tissues, so consuming omega 3 has always been a natural and adaptive part of the human diet. All babies have omega 3 as part of their bodies when they are born and the human body cannot produce omega 3 on its own. To get omega 3 it must be consumed as part of the human diet. No data has been presented to indicate omega 3 consumed as part of food is harmful. How can a fatty acid found in every animal, every human at birth, and in all the animals that are primary foods for the human diet be inherently poisonous? Is there even such a substance? These facts together with the data in this video indicate that omega 3 consumed as part of food is unlikely to be toxic provided it is not consumed in excess. Omega 3 is more likely to be an essential nutrient that humans must consume some amount of in order to achieve optimal health. The data does suggest that omega 3 consumed from supplements is toxic!

If polyunsaturated fats are bad, why are some essential, why does the body make some, why are they prevalent in animal meat/organs/milk/eggs? Can you give an example in nature where an animal is being detrimentally harmed by these polyunsaturated fats, and it’s obvious to the laymen? Ie squirrel 🐿️ ate a bunch of polyunsaturated fat nuts and fell over dead or sick from it, and the locals concluded it was the polyunsaturated fat from the nuts. Any real life examples, shortened life or health in something, outside a “study”, just to corroborate. Also, how does the body know how to use polyunsaturated fats ie Omega3 and 6 for essential reasons, but it doesn’t now how NOT to use it for building cell wall membranes? Is this a unique deficiency in the human body’s inherent intelligence, just this one thing, and it knows how to manage everything else to its benefit, but somehow it has not yet been able to evolve to determine where to use Sat fats, where to use Poly and so forth? If polyunsaturated fat bonds are so weak, how do they make it past the stomach acid/digestion system into the various parts of the body? Wouldn’t the immune system recognize this as dangerous? Aren’t fats absorbed through the lymphatic system from the intestinal track into the body and isn’t the lymphatic system where the immune system primarily functions, so seems odd the body wouldn’t try to intervene if these poly fats were so detrimental, just say’n.

Why do adrenal fatigue and sleeplessness or frequent wake ups through the night seem to go hand-in-hand? One explanation that made some sense is that the body isn’t using glucose or glycogen properly, so it is waking us up to go hunt for food at night when we become depleted in a fasting state. It does seem like people with adrenal fatigue should not be doing intentional fasting. Do you agree?
