so cute❤
That tank is gonna be too narrow as he’s older and also uvb liner is more better for turtles and you need to replace it every 6-8 months if you need any tips let me know I can help and turtles need a 100% dry area so they can fully get out of the water and bask
I know!! Im going to upgrade soon when he gets bigger!
Respect
If you wanna find interesting snakes go down in southern Ohio
We got some up here too but yeah
Yo! That’s awesome. I’m glad you gave that that little snapper a nice tank, and a second chance. I have done something similar before. I once found baby snapping turtle in a local park once. It was a hatchling, on a bike trail. Looked smaller than usual and very dehydrated… I took it in because I already had an adult snapper in my outdoor pond, I figured I had the experience to do so. It was for sure gonna die in the heat too. It didn’t move at all and its eyes were closed. I thought it was dead for sure, until I saw its tail tuck in sideways. I decided to take it home and give it a chance. I put it in a bare bottom 10 gallon, with a sponge filter. I kept the water level very low because it was very weak. It didn’t eat at first, and it had a few minuscule scrapes on it from the gravel path that needed to heal. Sure enough, after it absorbed its yolk sac fully, it ate and began to grow and develop a very excitable personality! He’s much bigger than he was now. I hope to get him as “tame” as my adult someday, who lets me pet his neck, and climbs out of the water for food. So take good care of that little guy. He’s gonna be amazing in the future for you, snappers are full of personality and are ravenous hunters.
Thats amazing to hear dude! Similar experience with me as you can see! And im going to take great care of him, He’s going to be awesome!! I just need to clean his tank out because it stinks already 😂
almost as cute as you
ikr

i hope you realize that if you don't condition him to be released and even if you try this will be like keeping a dog that requires lots of attention and baby proofing of the house once he gets bigger. in is early stages like how he needs to be learning to forage and to hide from predators/getting a sense of the world. its instincts are strong and will probably take over if it gets back into the wild soon. but as soon as hes strong enough he should go because if you keep him they get big and need lots of care plus live a long time like a dog.
Snapping Turtles make fantastic pets. If you raise them right, they are super affectionate and love to hang out with you. Its crazy that they seem to be very smart for a turtle, given they would seem to be the most primitive. Lots of famous snappers on youtube that just absolutely adore hanging out with people, its crazy.
I love my turtle so much already he’s doing great and going to be a big boy!
Hey post him a lot I’m gonna do the same thing I’m gonna keep my lil Guy turbo thru the winter
i will!

OSU did a study back in the early 2000 late 90s. I think but the study was about copper heads and garter snakes mixing. Some people say it happens. But I think this study said. In conclusive. Maybe this is what they was talking about? Because it's supposed to be copper collard snake that it produces. Let me know your thoughts if you could.
Im not too sure!
Because only copperheads are not in my range i never found one atleast
To all the rednecks calling 10 different species "bluegill" this example is a red breasted sunfish. @everyone

I've heard Haitian immigrants have started catching these snakes and skinning them for their meat and scales. Very sad indeed
