JNA built the whole village of Kupari and it was called Yugoslav Hawaii. Yugoslav Army rather say NAVY "destroyed" this because Croatian paramilitary formations used these hotels and beach town to attack Yugoslav NAVY ships. Therefore NAVY had to reply from the ships and shelled the hotels. Croats should ask their leaders why they started fighting with Yugoslav army in the first place. Also not all hotels were destroyed in the war of 1991 by "Yugoslavs". The 2 hotels were left standing and the Croatian army moved in in 1998 (after the end of the war). They were there for 2 years. In the year of 2000 they left and the residents of the Dubrovnik area started to loot and rob remaining hotels taking everything ( furniture, appliances and the building materials). It was unreasonable for the Croat army to leave this area before it was at least cleaned up or prepared for the use of the tourists. The responsibility for this is about the same 50/50. Today it looks like a ghost town with the remains of the tragedy of war in Yugoslavia.
