      The word affair implies a broken marriage vow, but there's no mention of Beowulf being married before he meets Grendel's mother. The sin of fornication could apply, however.

      @@tmote-O76 Well seeing as it's not a Christian story that couldn't be Eva because it wouldn't be sinful cuz sin is a Christian invention but no he became the new king of the kingdom after the previous one departed and he had a queen that was younger than him

    • @tmote-O76
      @tmote-O76 4 години тому

      @@DrRexie His becoming king and taking a bride came after his descent into the swamp, or bog, and the confrontation with Grendel's mother. He was a single man at that point. So there's no breach of marriage, because there was no marriage to violate. I'm not sure what you mean by "couldn't be Eva." Typo maybe? As for sin being a Christian invention, that's garbage. There are many ancient religions with the concept. They were usually referred to as offenses against the gods, priesthood, or natural world. There are as many versions of the concept of sin as there have been cultures on the face of or inside of the Earth. As for the dragon being his son, that's been the commonality between him and Hrothgar since before the poem was written.

    Domovoy is also known for stealing small objects, like spoons or socks. If you can not find the thing anywhere, you are supposed to ask domovoy to return it, and if he is in a good mood you then will find it, often in the place where you already looked before. Also domovoys are very fond of cats and sometimes can even transform into cats themselves. And if you are moving to the new house you are supposed to invite your old house domovoy to move with you. Also in some slavic stories werevolves (also known as "oboroten") can transform into wolves with the help of the knife. To do this you have to stick a knife into a stump and somersault over it. And you should do this again to transform back. But if somebody finds the knife in the stump and steals it while you is in the wolf form, well, it means you are stuck as a wolf forever.

    Dragons for the most part are like Komodo Dragons of Earth for the most part in my stories. That is to say they are not common but not really endangered either. Most of all their attacks are internally sourced in various ways; so even if magic is a thing they all have natural factors as well to draw upon. Also as I may have pointed out in other comments; They are peak creatures connected to various creation myths and ancient legends of eons gone by. So with all of that said I will mention a few Dragon Slayers myself... tho I need to prefice this by saying they were known as such because like a mad man they thought of little else besides killing at least 1 dragon to qualify for this. So no mere hunters or soldiers in war; being mentioned only the real deals (which I do not have many of since I hold dragons in a more sacred light in my stories normally... they are smarter than humans and know the consequences of killing them; so why would they try to ruin their own easy life, when worship provides them so much). Volvagia & Goron Emperor Thyuak Kraggynn= To know Volvagia is to know the Earths Furry fully unleashed. Barely counting as a dragon Volvogia Is an Incarnation of Techtonic activity Swiming in our Mantle as a Narwal does the ocean; it would spring up into the crust or the surface to eat its fill then return to life alone in the deep heat of the eternal furnace. Accounts of it mentioned how the body was molten Mithral and Star Metal (Tungsten) over a musculacture of Lava and Bed rock. Nearly a Fathom long and as round as a great Red wood tree; its sheer mass was threat enough without its Meltdown breath known to be able to melt Diamond like a forest fire would a block of ice... it had almost no weaknesses. Gorons are a simple folk that are basically Hyrules Dwarves. They love smithcraft and Minning for the sake of mining. They are truly the gentle Giants of Death Mountain. They roll around rather than walk or run. But once angered they have been known to level mountain ranges as they trample onto a battle field. Think a Hecontires strength but in a body made to roll up into a ball of destruction. Ruled normally by the most selfless Goron they do have a royal family system. But one day a great evil of inmeasurable power came to the area and ruined everything. Shadda Da'Evil was the wielder of the Rings of Perpetually eternal Darkness, Primordial artifacts of power more grand than a true Gods. He had enslaved a primordial Guardian of Dark forces known as the Dark Spectrum. He lured Volvagia to the home of the Gorons simply to gain a chance at killing it and enslaving its soul to the second ring As the Dark Spectrum was sealed to the First ring (there is a third on ones head... but he sealed his own existence to that one). Plan succeeded as the dragon devoured half the Goron nation Da'Evil set up his field of battle before facing the dragon.12 days and 13 nights later Volvagia was slain by the Necromancer and then turned into an undead that seeked the souls of the Gorons. The Emperor had been forging for that entire time (1 year) to forge a weapon capable of slaying the cursed dragon. Thus the "Megaton Hammer" (in truth it weighted 9 metric tons) was forged. This Hammer was a Sledge Hammer built in the modern proportions but the handle was meant for the Huge Emperors own hands so it was 3 meters long and the head was as round as a barrel. Its might was so devastating that a casual swing could turn Sand into stone with the force of the compression caused. So the battle was on The emperor vs the most lethal and potent dragon ever to exist. The battle in truth ended in one blow, but that blow created the great Wastelands South East of Kokoriko village (sorry not Links hometown in "Zelda Ocaranna of time"; the village where you learn the song of storms). He dodged all atks until he could parry the dragon attacking in melee. One Counter attack and the dragonBurst into a cloud of ash and dust. It could regrow from nothing thanks to the ring; and in doing so it lost its original body. each time it appeared after that first it was 1/100 the size roughly and much easier to kill. Comienhawynn The Air of Evil's Rampage & The Rise of Thorn Island= There was once a land that had a race known for their magitech genius; known simply as Blank. Blank had delusions of grandeur that were milenia in the making. So they started working for a terrible Winter Country tyrant by the name of Undine. The Depraved individual asked for the creation of god class entities to be used for war. Undine made himself the Water Monster weapon. There was a Fire; an Earth; and the dragon was "Air" Ka-Mean-Ha-Win is by no sense weak. Its got 4 or 5 Black hole mouths on its body that it uses air currents of such great and terrible force that it replicates the effects of a black hole; that instead of comprising things with gravity it grinds things at the atomic level while controlling the nuke factor with air flow obliterating all it consumes down to the sub atomic level. It can then fire grit at light speed like a rail cannon of air current. Its travel speed is around that of light despite propelling itself with air alone. Its eyes can twist things in spiral shapes until its squelched into a singular point lump (using gravity to do so). If you want a visual for that effect then read the Japanese Manga "Uzumaki". You cannot unsee that Mangas nightmarish panels of bizarre gore and existential dread. Trust me you will never look at snails the same way again. Blank Was on the verge of death by the weapons it made And all were stopped by the most bizarre snake. A Barbwire snake has no max size but does hunger for monsters not humans or livestock. good for eco systems bad for being an enemy. They normally hang out in remote and secluded areas where fear of humans is minimal. So it fought the invaders because it saw them as food.The only survivors of Blank were the non combatants and scholars so in the end the dragon slayer was in fact this colossal Snake with razor wire like barb fins along its side that it could manipulate like fingers to hold or shred stuff. The battle was so great between the 2 that Torn Island was born in its odd shape it currently holds. Now the snake acts as the Islanders Shepard and raises the tribes as if they were its kids. Its blood family never stays but these dumb humans make it feel less lonely. The First Dragons final resting place & the mad Bairds Dirge of Battle symphony= This one I will keep short. Umma Crypt had to go to the moon and "slay" the first female dragon An "Unslayable" it could never in truth die but it could be destroyed but in this case the fight was to a KO. first to be knocked out would lose. After many trys and trials in the fight Umma decided to make it a boxing match. The dragon had a glass jaw; but was insanely hard to hit such a small zone. after a month of battle where the last week was rounds of boxing. he won and got the Dragon feather he uses to right the complete history of all existence. Not exactly normal stories of dragons being beat but still as I said it shows how different the characters are from the norm.

      There are numerous Polish books on the topic - personally, I find Paweł Zych (e.g. "Bestiariusz Słowiański") to be easiest for reference. But the problem is that there is really no unified Slavic mythology; and that the assumed "source" has been heavily muddled with time and cultural / religious syncretism. As a result, the "same" Slavic legendary creature is often described differently by different Slavic groups - e.g. there is quite a big difference between Polish "Baba Jaga" and Russian one.
