I got fired here last week Thursday. Here's the thing: Everything in the market is insanely priced. Like the shop I worked in, we purchased a slab of chocolate for 1€. We were selling to everyone for 35€. Our famous turkish delights, we could sell you 3 entire rolls for 1€. But we will sell you a few pieces for 8€. A fake rolex watch we get it for $9. We sell it for $450. All gets sold out quick. We make huge money by scamming everyone. This is October 2024 by the way. 😢 Update: I called and they still don't want me to work in the market again😢

Ian, we're in Antalya at the moment. I've bought Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren polo shirts for TL 900 after hard haggling and then from a different shop got a couple of lovely quality polos by Lacoste at TL 600 each with no negotiation. You just have to be happy with the price before you buy. When you consider these polos can cost £109 back in the UK you are getting a bargain 😅

Because the courts don’t work properly, people tries to fix their disputes their way in the streets, thus a lot of crime everyday. This also encourage criminals. There is also a lot of censor in the media to hide the truth. There is freedom of speech but police officers close the mounth of arrested people when they transport them to the courts when the media wants to talk to them. So there is freedom of speech only when you lie in the benefit of the system. Also the narcissistic personality disorder, which is almost impossible to cure, is very widespread in their culture and they transmit it to the whole world with their movies played internationally, other people is watching their movies and copying their habits and ideas.

Taking the Marmaray metro/train is one option if you're in a hurry but if the weather is nice, suggest taking a 10 minute bus ride from Söğütlüçeşme to Kadikoy Ferry Station and then over to the European side. Nice views and about 15-20 minutes. Another suggestion. Since you're in Turkey, try to use a few words in Turkish. Don't assume everyone speaks English, which many don't.
