May Mcfettridge Stephen Nolan show Panto talkback
This is a few years back - the BBC wanted to link the Grand Opera House pantomime into the Stephen Nolan show - the idea was that the show came live to the pantomime show at various points in the show and the studio would interact with the performers on stage - my role was to speed up or slow down the show to match the way the show was progressing in the studio - so extending a bit here, speeding up there. The TV folk thought this would be easy to do - until they met May McFettridge

We always loved these shows with Barry, Dawn, Laura, Rob and Tom. I'm not sure what year this was - but a great memory. I found this on the drive of an old computer - so I'm glad it wasn't lost for ever!

Recorded at the Britannia Pier, Gt Yarmouth before Covid - the show video sadly never got finished, and we didn't re-appear after covid. A huge shame as we all enjoyed being part of the band so much. It's taken ages but I managed to find most of the recordings and I have managed to complete this track. I have more camera material to locate and then maybe I can get some others done too, fingers ...

The UK Beach Boys playing in the dark - Carnglaze Caverns, Cornwall

Another old re-discovered GoPro file - we were playing down in a cave in Cornwall, UK - and the lights went off, so we just carried on - in a large underground cavern, with no lights bar an emergency one at the back of the stage, it was very odd - but oddly, the audience really thought it a bit of fun - as we did.
Surprised that they didn’t need a MOM to flag the crossing. Signaller must have given approval to cross with raised barriers.
I would guess that the train driver waved the DHL truck through since there was ample opportunity for both drivers to make eye contact and exchange hand gestures.
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THAT WAS BETWEEN 2ND AND 4TH CARRAGE?
The power unit
Wabtec AA-2 - the only horn in town.
Hi! Can i use it please ? With credit, thanks.
Ok so here is my take on it. Crossing lights failed and the DHL driver at that point was clear to cross. The train is given the road (we did not see the green or proceed with caution) which the driver did. He continued to use horn as a warning so the train could proceed. Fault lies with Network rail..
When I heard the 2 long blasts of the horn, I was half expecting the driver to follow up with a short, then another long blast as in the US at crossings. Never mind, this was a good catch. A pity the DHL driver thought that the crossing lights didn't apply to him. I shall not be using that company for deliveries if they flout traffic laws.
Did you show this vids to DHL. It's like when I go over a pedestrian crossing before I've got to the other side. Cars have carried on like I wasn't, when their suppose to slow down & wait. But as soon as people have passed their driving test. The highway code goes out of the window!
The barriers should have come down. If not then cars have right of way.
I think that the lights alone give the train right of way. Also, a bit of common sense is required. Clearly that driver will be a Reform voter - all promises and no delivery!
Aaw you guys are awesome 😊
My fave one
I met Freddie and the dreamers and Paul zenon as a kid in g Barmouth, I’m sure it was Britannia pier late 80’s. My gran would take one of us with her and her daughter on holiday and as my aunt was severely mentally handicapped and in a wheelchair, we always had front row seats and she never failed to get everyone’s autographs. I’m sure it was a guest house in Ashley road but with my family, we would stay in a caravan at caister or a chalet in hemsby . Looking for old Britannia pier stuff brought me here and as I love the beach boys, couldn’t resist listening. Well done, it sounds really good, I might have to revisit ❤❤ (the model village, the big blue coaster)
Had a few of those (retired GA driver) on of the times you need a guard who could stop the traffic. I would guess the driver also used the manual over ride button as well as calling the signalman.
No way will he be sacked. His union will make sure of that. Idiot driver.
If you mean the DHL driver he will almost certainly be self-emploed and not a union member! But you clearly have a downer on Unions. Why?
I will stick my neck out and suggest that he is the type who thinks that trades unions are pointless and a waste of money. Pretty much the same as his attitude to warning sounds and flashing lights...
Great catch. How long did it take to fix it ?
only a couple of hours I thnk

Great video. Like me!
The train driver definitely had a little American in them. Nice horns.
The van driver had a little Yank in him too.....driving in front of trains is a regular occurrence in the US, often with deadly results. Just search on 'Brightline' in Florida for examples
Great train. I feel like in TsW4
It's a horrible design like most modern trains

Train: Look out...train crossing DHL: Got no time for this nonsense, jeez...
D.H.L: I can't wait for this i have have to deliver parcels. Train driver: oh WTF is going on here today hooooonnnkkk
Does anyone know what this procedure looks like on third rail sections? I imagine there's a very real chance of getting the train "gapped" over the non-electrified section having to push off from 0 mph right at the end of the conductor rail.
It’ll use the other end of the train to get electric
For third rail trains there are pickup shoes at either end of the train alleviating that issue.
Here in the United States the Federal Railroad Administration requires the conductor to put flares and physically flag the crossing. It’s cool seeing how the UK does things differently as I don’t see as many crossing failures like this.
Many of the trains in this region are driver-only operated.
In the UK, we have many types of crossing, and at some, such as an MCB-CCTV, MCB-OD or AHB, a train would not normally be allowed to pass over the crossing unless it had been flagged across if the barriers had failed to lower or were missing. This looks like an AOCL that has been retrofitted with barriers (making it an AOCL+B). These are crossings that would normally only have lights and are found on lightly used rural lines with lower speeds where they pass over quieter roads. Because of some misuse by motorists, most of them are being upgraded to have barriers as well, but these aren’t interlocked with the signalling, instead that little signal on the left hand side of the line just before the crossing will indicate to the driver if the road lights are flashing, the klaxon is sounding and the barriers are down. If that isn’t the case, as is here, and due to the rural nature of this type of crossing, the driver will contact the signaller and get their authority to pass the crossing. They must sound the horn as they pass the protecting signal, then continuously as they pass the crossing and must travel at a speed where they can stop before any obstruction (such as a car). The signaller is likely unaware that the level crossing has failed, as AOCL are not normally linked to the overall signalling systems, but will be now they have been informed by the driver, and a local signalling response team will be despatched (which is what I do for a living). The DHL driver has committed a road traffic offence by passing a flashing red road light.
Train driver: "Hey look, I'm in America!" <sounds continuous horn> DHL driver: "So am I". <ignores crossing signals>
LMAO
I’m guessing the driver waved for the van to cross due to the van stopping then going
I would put my life savings on the DHL driver not being from the UK.
Really? 85% of people in England were born in England (probably more where this is filmed) and British drivers are not all patient law abiding saints.
I get regular DHL pickups and deliveries, I'd say more than 90% of those drivers are British born and raised, same for Parcelforce and UPS the same cannot be said for a number of other couriers e.g DPD some of who cannot even find a house number when there are less than 50 addresses in the lane. Most of the couriers work on a stupidly tight schedule though
@@rickfarny 2021 census say in that part of East Anglia 94% were born in the UK
The sound and the lights should be enough to stop.
Assuming the lights were working. It's always possible the only thing working was the sound alert, if the barriers failed you can't guarantee something else didn't fail as well. But sure the sensible thing to do if you see a train stopped at a Level Crossing and the barriers aren't down is to stop and wait. But we also didn't see the DHL van approach, so it could have been the situation that the train had already been sitting there for 5-10 minutes & the DHL van came to a complete stop and waited briefly before checking that the train wasn't actually moving & proceeded through the crossing.
@@CoolSteve08 It's not likely as the lights and alarm are on the same, original, circuit. The barrier pack is a bolt-on.
That horn has a lovely tone - NOT!
