i find it most impressive that you tried, put so much thought, effort, and time into the idea. and, like you mentioned, learned a lot along the way. i don’t believe that most people would just open the bookshop, i rather think that most people will bury the dream as it being only a dream and moving on with the daily stress. i might be wrong. 🤷🏼‍♀️ i really like the positive way you look back on the whole endeavour and are able to appreciate the positive aspects. your mum sounds great - can i borrow her from time to time? 😂

This box is my first illumicrate subscription! I loved everything about it, the book and the items are totally me. I was actually about to buy a new pill organiser on amazon!

I'm so glad you were helpful to the disabled girls and that they got help from people who came with them, the experience must have been difficult for them. "It isn't a shop" or "it isn't technically public" is such a stupid excuse for not even being remotely accessible. What if a disable person wanted to work for them? "Sorry, we can't let you because you're disabled". What sort of warehouse doesn't have at the very least slopes and stuff in the main area? It isn't TECHNICALLY a shop, but they open it to the public and sell stuff which makes it as good as one so accessibility is still important. I don't use a wheelchair or cane or anything but get physical pains in my legs and sometimes back and it's so annoying when there is zero lift access and not any proper places to sit, especially in an experience that takes about 2 hours excluding queues :(( I'm glad you enjoyed the experience, though!! I don't live close so wouldn't bother, but it sounds like a unique and fun experience all the same!!

This box was AMAZING! Loved the theming and how well they stayed true to it. I was also surprised by the items. They were all really good ones! I opened the bowls first and after that I figured there'd be some smaller items since that one was so good, but I'd say the smallest one was the pill organizer and I still think that's a good item! Usually I feel like with fancier things in the boxes they add like stickers or something so I was so thrilled with what was given. The book is stunning and I also wasn't too mad about the color change on the regular cover when usually I do find myself disappointed by that as well. But it was just so beautifully done this time <3

I skipped August, now I am a bit sad. But I wish you a lot of fun with your box. 😀

The design of the book is stunning and the bowls are beautiful. But I'm not unhappy that I skipped this book. I had respect to read a book like this in english, because it's not my native language and vampires are not my favorit race of fantastic people.

Hi Michelle! MMmmmm!! Love the gold foiled redo of this book's cover very much!!! Very elegant and eye catching! And the stencilled edge/naked hardback castle art is just magnificent!!! Character art on the end papers is nice too. All in all I'd say this one's a keeper. I haven't heard anything about the book though so I think that I'll check out the details and see if it appeals to me enough to get a copy. As for the extras included in the box. The dagger/sword is cool and the bowls are always handy although the decor on them means I'd not use them outside of the Halloween season. In general I tend to decorate and celebrate Fall rather than the spooky season so I wouldn't have much use for the things provided in the box. But I am curious about something ... when you read Bride please explain to me what jars of peanut butter have to do with bats, paw prints and phases of the moon????!!!! I've been drawn to vampire characters in books in the past but prefer the less ... um ... bloody stories ... or perhaps I should say violent? Hope you're having a great weekend Michelle. Love the bowls and the character art & naked hardcover are beautiful! Interested to see if the sprayed edges look washed out in person. Side Note: am I the only person who does NOT like blurbs on Special Editions!?! Blurbs are to make someone buy the book so why are they there 😭 With all that said I can’t wait for my illumicrate book to arrive as this is a highly anticipated read for me!

And now i am kind of sad I skipped this one 😅 I skipped a lot this year because their picks were not speaking to me but this box looks awesome. I am not a fan of just re-colored dust jacket but the hardcover on this is stunning! I'm not skipping next month only because there will be a puzzle lol

oh i am obsessed w the art on this one. been on such a vampire kick lately and this is GORGEOUS. that city artwork on the edges and hardcover is to die for. romantasy isnt uuuusually my think but i might have to check this out

I agree 100% about having been happier with the standard edition. I think I would have liked it better had the reverse dust jacket actually been the main cover, instead of just having a color change on the main cover.

This is a great stack 😍 The Four Winds is my favourite Kristin Hannah book, I loved that it highlighted a part of history I knew very little about. I read Scythe a few years ago and I really enjoyed it, I think it's one of those YA books that feels kind of ageless so adults can enjoy it too. I really want to visit 66 Books but I hate queuing so I'm not sure how I'd cope unless I got there super early... Maybe one day!

Amazing day. Was thinking afterwards we should have listened to an audiobook on the way there and back but we had fun chatting. Looking forward to our visit next year!! xx

Hi Michelle. Well, this looks like it was a lot of fun!!! Dangerous, but a lot of fun! I'll bet we could all have done some serious damage at a place like this. We had a place here in Ontario called BookOutlet which had a bricks and mortar store that sold books for half price or less and I'd always wanted to go and check it out. But you could also order books from them on line and since we didn't live near them I settled for that and over time managed to get some great deals. But about a year ago they closed the bricks and mortar store and now you can only order from them on line. We use to have a fantastic store in downtown Toronto called The Worlds Biggest Bookstore (it wasn't really ... but pretty good nonetheless) and you could find some good deals there, not to mention wasting hours and hours browsing through the place. But sadly it too was closed down some years ago to make way for more downtown condos since, you know, you can never had too many condos ... I guess. We have a few yearly used book and jigsaw puzzle sales in Georgetown to raise money for various charities and I'd hit those when I could and in fact when I downsized my library prior to moving I donated a good portion of those books to the Humane Society charity sale. Then had to be careful when I went to the sale not to buy back the books that I'd donated. I'm sure you can relate. But some of those book sales did not come back after Covid, sadly. So now I just order 95 % of my books from online stores and 3/4 of those are from the UK. Emma Donoghue is a Canadian author and I loved her book Room though I would not really consider it a thriller. Brie Larson won an Oscar for best actress when she starred in the movie adaption of Room. The Four Winds was an amazing story too but for extra "fun" once you've read it (not before) go read all the comments on Goodreads under it's reviews. OMG!!! The Wayfairers books are fabulous but you'll need one more to complete the quartet. Great video Michelle. Cheers!!!

I thought it was a bit odd to effectively have two different character art designs for the covers. Recolouring the foil was lazy in my opinion. I ended up flipping the jacket on this one as the inside was a bit more to my taste.

I despised the purple foiling, so I am soooo happy it’s red 🫶 overall I think it’s a very adult looking fantasy book, but a little bit on the eh side (super excited to read it though 🥰) love your videos!

Dark Matter is a fun read. I just picked up Recursion. Besides library sales and once a year book fair near me, there aren't any warehouse sales. Great content. Ready Player One is great, but it helps if you're familiar with the games/culture referenced.
