A lifelong interest in railways - until recently I preferred still photography to movies.
Finding a video I shot on VHS back in 1999 sparked an interest and enough enthusiasm to get me a modern HD camcorder. So let's have a go at digitising and uploading that 1999 VHS and then shoot some more recent stuff across two continents!

I did catch one eastbound movement to complement the westbound today. Horns and a bell from the engineer. On other occasions I've been at Sidney I've spent several hours with nothing apart from tumbleweed.

One engine on the front, a second hiding about half way down the train formation. I got plenty of warning on the westbound as I can hear the defect detector at Quincy ( I think?) but the later eastbound auto racks sneaked up on me.
IORY Lima South Local

Originally recorded on 8 Oct 2016 Following the Indiana & Ohio Railroad's Lima South Local train. Arrived at Lima, put gas in the rental car then as I turned west It was just crossing the Findlay Road (route 81). I managed to turn around, back onto I75 south then exit onto route 65 south which runs parallel with the line. The first location in the Yodar Rd crossing next to the new I75 overpass....

An early evening freight heads north on the Toledo sub, past the GA Wintzer processing plant, over Pusheta Creek, and into the start of the Wapakoneta siding. Great horn sound from CSX.

Three CFE engines drag a selection of wagons around the tight curve and across Pearl Street from the southbound CSX Toledo sub onto the westbound CFE line at NS Tower.

N&S leading a selection of logos across the C&FE line in Lima OH. After some chasing around the back streets of Lima at 25mph, dodging road construction, I managed to grad a few minutes of video whilst parked at one of the many crossings that cover the city. Chased and caught again at Maplewood.
That sure was a nice train, i loved the little red locomotive on there.
It was an enjoyable visit to Fostoria yesterday afternoon. They even have a scanner radio there so didn't need mine.
That's one thing I like about some of these places
Never will see this again... Trackage rights were taken away from them, now you will only see them on the far eastern side of the CFE where they still own the line. CSX owns the line from Crestline Ohio to Chicago Illinois. I was told that CSX leased this line to the CFE, if they don't get it renewed this year, CSX will take back the line.
That's interesting to know. Used to be busy around Lima but not seen much apart from CSX and IORY on my recent visits to the area.
Back in the late 1970’s my brother and I climbed the bridge and walked out over it. We found an access hole with a ladder down into the arches under the tracks where we were able to walk the center from one side of an arch to the other.
Been a few suicides off there as well..Used to be a very cool structure.Still is but it's seen it's better days.

I think that this is a great location but one needs to know wots running and whether its worthwhile going
Well I found the realtime trains planner helpful even though not all of the trains listed were running. I know for future visits that if I'm the only railfan there then it's all routine stuff!
