I seriously doubt that any purely electronic device will become cogent. I have yet to see any computer that is capable of creative thought, although it does make for interesting science fiction. However, one puny but creative mind, like Adolph Hitler or some similar miscreant, might be able to use serious computing power (if it was made easy enough to direct) to cause cataclysmic destruction. It's the man behind the curtain that we all have to watch out for.

Many critics say that Clarke 'invented the communications satellite'. No. But he popularized the concept. And he was not the first to concieve the space elevator. A Russian did. But again, Clarke popularized it. Great smart man.

Very good point about education. Kids are taught to obey and memorise not to think and question, but there is a reason. With thinking and questioning the authority of the teachers and people in power might be undermined and indeed, questioned and that is not in their interest

It was his Arthur C. Clarke Mysterious Universe TV show in the early 90’s that made me interested in the Science and Paranormal. This man was one of my inspiration. RIP Professors Arthur C. Clarke you’re life had been truly well spent indeed.

A great man. I met him once. Wonderfully gentle and supremely inquisitive, imaginative and intelligent soul. RIP.
