Thank you sooooo much for your comment ❤ As for us what we decided to do is sell all of our big items, TVs, furniture etc. Some people that I know had their cars shipped over, but we just sold our car in the states before moving. We did this because we knew that we didn't need a car for everything as Mérida has really great transportation that makes it easy to get around with combis, buses, rideshare, etc. We came to Mérida with several suitcases with personal items, pictures, docs, etc. The reason we did this is because it can be quite expensive to ship some things overseas and it can take a few weeks to get it. So I think it's really a matter of deciding if you REALLY need it or can you simply replace it locally when you move here. Things like furniture you always get here a lot cheaper or have it custom made. There are Walmarts, Sams Club, Home Depot, Amazon and most dept stores from the states. I hope this helps you guys with your transition to Mérida 😊

@@WaterFresh7 I have used Facebook groups, but there are a few good property listing websites. One reputable local company that I have used and highly recommend checking out is called Casa Mérida. You can call and speak perhaps with Michael Henry, Lilian, Raul or Augustin. They are very nice and helpful. They have a website called casamerida.mx with rental listings of all Mérida where you can plug in your location preferences, pricing, rooms, etc. Mérida is a city where you can find many of the best rentals just by riding in neighborhoods as most locals don't typically post online, rather prefer to use signs "se renta" 😊

@@WaterFresh7 As for Calisthenics Parks, I haven't seen any. However there are 2 Calisthenics Gyms with outdoor exercises and classes in Mérida. One that I know of is in an area called Chichí Suárez and another near Paseo Montejo 😁.

Yes, the prices in the US for rent, medical, etc are crazy and that's one of the reasons why we moved. Speaking Spanish is not a requirement to live in Merida. There are many foreigners mainly in the Merida Centro area and many business owners or staff may speak English. However, I highly recommend learning some Spanish if you plan to live in Mexico as it's very helpful with conducting business and getting around. Americans can own property if they become Mexican residents. You can apply for your Mexican residency and then purchase property, cars, etc. However, you do not need residency to rent houses, cars. Food in general is pretty cheap IF you are not in tourist driven areas. I think that we spend about a 1/3 on food in comparison to what we spent in the states. Hello, how are you? There are tons of really nice areas to rent places. When you say a long vacation, how long are you planning to vacation here in Merida? A few weeks or 1 month? Some areas to consider are: Centro area, Las Americas, Santiago, Altabrisa, Garcia Gineres, and Santa Ana.

@meridareviewblog I'm great thanks for asking. How about you? Possibly the 180 days then back to the US to visit family but come back for another 180. Also looking at mexico city.
