Kraftwerk : Tour de France , original 12” vinyl record 45rpm, 1983
"Tour de France" is a song by German electronic band Kraftwerk. It was first issued in July 1983, peaking at number 22 in the United Kingdom singles chart on 21 August.
It is notable for the use of sampled voices and mechanical sounds associated with cycling that were used to supplement a simple electro-percussion pattern - an approach Kraftwerk had used on earlier tracks such as "Metal on Metal" (from Trans-Europe Express) and "Numbers" (from Computer World). The music is credited to Ralf Hütter, Florian Schneider and Karl Bartos; the lyrics are credited to Hütter and Maxime Schmitt, a French label associate of the band. The melody appears to quote a fragment of the opening section of Paul Hindemith's "Sonata for Flute and Piano" ("Heiter Bewegt").
The sleeve design depicted the band on road bikes in a paceline, superimposed across an angled representation of the French national flag. The design was adapted from an image that had appeared on a 1953 Hungarian postage stamp, one of a sport-themed set commemorating the opening the Népstadion (People's Stadium) in Budapest. The piece was also included in the 1984 film Breakin', also known as Breakdance internationally. Although the song did appear briefly in the film, Kraftwerk did not let the song appear on the movie soundtrack; instead, a cover version of the song was released by a group called "10 Speed".

Does anybody really know Ben Liebrand? This remix is just one of works, he had other hits like the remix of Phil Collins 'In the Air', Sting 'English man in New York' and other titles. What Ben really is known for is his work on Dutch Radio Veronica where he produces a so called MiniMix in a show called 'In the Mix'. It was Ben who produced songs with the same tempo, connecting them together to create a new mix. In The Netherlands he is the father of remixes and people like Tiesto or Davd Ghetta have learned from his works. Ben even started up sticking the magnetic band from reel to reel players to create a mix. On the Dutch station Radio 538 he started to produce a yearly GrandMix with the best club and dance hits put together for 1 hour. He made different versions of the GrandMix with songs from different decades (the 80's, 90's,20's). This dutchman is now 64 years old and lives in Canada. He continues to work for radio and airs his mixes in his shows. At the moment he works for Sunshine Live in Germany. My first contact to his music was hearing Greg Meriman playing a remix of Michael Jackson's song 'Bad' in the disco in Sands Hotel, Portmarnock being aired on Sunshine Radio. I loved to tape these Megamixes or 'Mash-Ups'. I missed the MTV Mash-Ups were Ben was also very active.
Love his remixes, he did an excellent one with Bill Withers : lovely day . He made use of Art of noise’s female “hey hey” vocal on it to great effect ua-cam.com/video/JcvWrKnuZRM/v-deo.htmlsi=L1ChqfQYbhzuo17m

What a hit! This song showed the unusual style of this man. Gone way to early, he had so much potential that we are left with way to little to remind us of this artist.
An iconic prince hit , forgot how good the extended version is !

Futuristic style.... does Bully dance to it ? Present this vinyl in my 12" pop collection. Situation was the B side to the single Only you, YAZOO 1982. You can`t find it in their just two studio albums. My favorite Situation appears on Singles, a 1995 compilation by ALISON MOYET. Short version but good, 2' 24'' time. And my very fav from the british couple for Situation is coming from Moreno J Remixes. Maxis Maximal channel shows it ua-cam.com/video/V-J5XMGOP4A/v-deo.html Greetings from CHILE 🍷🍷🍷🍷
@@marioharoldtellezbarros5986 this actually the B side to the 1990 release, here’s the track listing for it - 12-inch single (Mute 12YAZ4 / Sire/Warner Bros. 21812-0) Aside -“Situation (The Aggressive Attitude Mix)"(not shown on this video) B side -“Situation (Deadline Mix)" "State Farm (Madhouse Mix)" Bully is on the dance floor during one of these tracks 😆
Love the title reminder of the song's words ' Just gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme fried chicken!'
Just looked up to why these words turned up in the recording. I got 2 explanations that turned up. The first one claims that it showed the bands sense of humour at the recording studio. They apparently agreed to make a take with 'Fried Chicken' instead of 'One Vision' and it got used as the release version. The second explanation was that there was children in the studio from an engineer who made fun and sang 'Fried Chicken' at the end of the song. Fred heard this with others present in studio. He loved it and used it in the song. Which version is right, I leave it up to you to decide. My memories of this song, it was a Nova Classic. It got played so many times that you had to turn up the radio....
Wow, the ballad King of music! Lionel Ritchie started up with the Commodores as singer and Saxophon player. He wrote hits like 'Easy', 'Sail On' and the much loved 'Three Times a Lady'. He left the group in 1980 and made a duet hit with Diana Ross with 'Endless Love' in 1981. In 1982 he made his first solo album with the hit like 'Hallo'. In 1985 he co-wrote with Michael Jackson the world hit 'We are the World'. 'Say you,Say me' comes from the 1985 Film 'White Nights'. In that year the Commondores returned with a hit called 'Nightshift'. Lionel Ritchie is now known as a juror member in the American show 'The Voice'.
@@martentoonder5415 thanks for that bit of history marten , 👍
I had to. It has been quiet about Lionel and his jury work in 'The Voice' does not reflect how great this man is. If you take the English version of this show and hear how the great Tom Jones sings live, you get reflected how amazing this person is. Lionel has gone quiet. I hope he will bring new songs that shows how great he really is.
