Epiphone Les Paul Muse Tones Check! Is it any good? It's not the best I've played

Epiphone Les paul Muse Pearl Metallic White. Tones Demo recorded direct using a Boss Katana MK2 100 212. All Reverb, delay and modulation is from the Boss Katana. Other than that the only pedals I used were a Electro Harmonics Big Muff Op Amp version and a Ibanez Tube Screamer Mini which is a smaller version of the TS808. Honestly I was not all that impressed by this particular Epiphone. The pic...

Guess I'm just really busy. I wanted to do a demo of it for years but never quite got there but here it finally is. I recorded it direct to my pc using 2 different amps over 2 days. Rock show by Grinspoon is so underrated. Great playing 🔥 Considering an SG style as my next guitar and might check this out.
Grinspoon are so underated. I still remember moshing front row at the great northern hotel in Byron Bay in the late 90s. Phil came outside after the gig and hung out with everyone
@ClintsGuitarsNGear that's so rad. What a legend. I saw them in Adelaide earlier this year. Great show!
This one is 22 frets
How well does it stay in tune?
It's as good as anything I've played. Better than Epiphone because off the headstock design. No strings break angle all in line
Did u swap out the pickups?
No these are the stock pickups. I have guitars with actual EMG pickups and I'm not convinced that these sound any different. At the the end of the day they are both active pickups with ceramic magnets.
preset?
I wish I could remember however I believe it was the crunch Channel with gain just below half a little bit of spring reverb, analogue delay and the Ibanez TS Mini with a tiny bit of gain like probably a quarter. I used to nearly always used to keep the boss katana EQ at about 12 o'clock on Bass,Mids,Treble. Hope this helps. It's not a very high gain guitar tone on the Inutero album. If this fails go for the slightly cleaner channel on the Katana as from what I've seen Kurt was using a lot Fender amps in the studio.
Hi, did you buy this guitar in houston tx
No I'm in Australia. Purchased it from Musos Corner here in Newcastle Australia. The home of Silverchair
I had one just like it same case got stolen i miss it so much @ClintsGuitarsNGear you play good
Thanks, Clint!
we can also change to better picks and leave the guitar as a good base
Exactly 👍
Great review mate! Never been a huge fan of SG's, for the reasons you gave, but might pop into Artist's showroom for a demo, as this axe looks and sounds very smart.
They make great value guitars for not a lot of money.
Need 1 off these me
Whats the weight like boss? Should be lighter than a strat or tele and wayyyy lighter than a les paul. Should be light and really resonating the buzz through that body with any luck .. thats the beauty of a good sg style guitar. P.S. if I had any criticism, your lead playing need heaps of work, focus on simple 2 or 3 notes from the route with "in tune" bends (half or full note) and good vibrato. A good player will make amazing solos between 2 frets with proper FEEL. It makes a huge difference brother. 5 notes used well sounds alot better than 10 notes with out of tune bends and stale fingering without vibrato. Another thing to help you play better is to play with lots of volume on the amp but be much more subtle with your playing. Crank the amp, play soft. Have the amp up loud but play soft. Let the amp work for you. Soft soft soft. It makes a huge difference in your playing style. It's the best advice I can give to any self taught player. Otherwise, thanks for the upload. I really appreciate it.
Wank Stain get a life. Did I claim to be the greatest guitarist on earth? Doesn't make a persons worth any less important. I follow channels with guitarists that aren't even as good as myself. Everyone has to start somewhere. Even Steve Vai and Hendrix have guitarists that are better than them. We don't see your 💩playing anywhere. Get help as you need to see a shrink for your mental condition keyboard warrior. Leave your mum's house and basement more buddy and get some sunlight and fresh air. You need to let go of that tight grip on your little pin dick and get layed. The better part of you dripped down the inside of your mum's thighs. 😂🤘🇦🇺🍻
I have one of these on the way, and it's great to be able to just hear 17 minutes of it through your playing. Thanks for the upload. It'll be impossible not to play Cherub Rock on it as soon as I've got it tuned up.
You are so good
Do you find this bad boy excessively bright? I find i have to back the treble to almost off, and rolled down my teles tone knob, to tone down the icepack top end
Yeah it's a very bright more Fender than Vox tone. You definitely notice it more when you play it loud. In the bedroom not so much. I think that the brightness is useful though when you start adding pedals as some pedals can muddy up your tone. I reckon swapping out the speaker would help though with the icepick top end. The speaker has the single biggest effect on all amp tone.
@ClintsGuitarsNGear may well change the speaker over. Wayy too icepick bright with my tele
I have one of these guitars and I absolutely love it.
Artist guitars are great value. Epiphone no longer is that's for sure. $3299 for an Adam Jones. That's not good value for an $1200 guitar with a Silverburst finish. I've never had an issue with any of the Artist guitars I own. I've had 2 really rubbish Epiphones though of late.
Do you recommend picking one of these up? I just have a basic stirling music man guitar atm. Some say artist guitars dont stay in tune, I'm also not a fan of the reflective coating but it does look beautiful
After owning 2 of the worst Epiphones I've ever owned in the past 12 months. One was a LES PAUL Muse and the other a Les Paul 1959 model and it wouldn't stay in tune. I did a complete setup on both and adjusted the bridge and nothing fixed the issue and thinking to myself how ordinary the Gibson pickups were as well on the 59 so I can safely tell you I would much prefer to spend any spare cash I've saved on an Artist guitar anyday over an overpriced over hyped Epiphone if this helps. The pickups in the Artist guitar are much better as is the hardware IMO. Also the Artist SG style is much better balanced as well.
What String guage size is good for this guitar
Ive found 10-46 to be perfect. 9-42 is a little light for my liking which is what they likely ship with from factory. But if you feel 10-46 is a bit heavy just go for a 9-46 set and it would be somewhere in the middle.
@@ClintsGuitarsNGear I tried 9 and Ended up breaking B Second String Can You suggest why ? Is this because of Non Accurate intonation or something please suggest
I would buy a 59 Epi again. I thought it was a great purchase. My other is a top-of-the-line Gibson custom shop. I think it’s worth the $900 USA.
It's good that you had a great experience with it. I guess everyone is different though. I was really disappointed with mine and is by far the worst Epiphone I've ever owned. I'll stick to my PSR SE 245 and my Epiphone Les Paul Classic.
@@ClintsGuitarsNGear what didn't you like?
I don’t get it. Are you trying to get ppl to NOT buy this stuff?
Are you really eating black cocks?
Hey my Aussie mate.Great review.I also dig Artist guitars.I have the gnosis 6,grungemaster ,thinline Tele,eb single coil and the 3/4 mini s. I also have the dc15s.How do u like it?Greetings From Melbourne
Greetings to you as well my Aussie friend. I absolutely love the DC15s. If only they had little amps like the DC15s back in the 90s or even the 00s. Does every amp model you need built into for learning new songs and sounds pretty amazing as well. The modulation effects are great as well. Love being able to easily Carry it around the house without any power chords and it's a really great tool for direct recording on the go.
The reason i have not bought one is i was worried about poor QC.
Yeah it's still a lot of money for a guitar regardless so you want the best for your money. I just don't feel as though a lot of these UA-cam channels are being completely honest in their reviews. I've been really disappointed in the last 2 Epiphones I've purchased and originally I was all for Epiphone. Loved my Epiphone SG and my Les Paul Classic as you'll see from previous videos I've done. That 1959 was $1600 Australian and that's Gibson Tribute model money. It's just not good enough for that price. There are better ways to spend your hard earned money. Even the crappy Les Paul muse is expensive. Artist guitars Australia make much better Les Paul copies than Epiphone and are only a fraction of the price and the pickups are better to my ear at least. Sorry if my response was long I just needed to get it off my chest. 👍
@@ClintsGuitarsNGear I will say the "southern fade" is the best looking finish of the 1959 Epi offers. the others look wrong to me? The Darkburst is OK but the cherryburst and lemonburst are horrible.
@@These_go_to_eleven_1959for sure. I have a dark burst, and think they look very nice. But, if I had not been set on getting mine from Sweetwater (they don’t have the Southern) the Southern would’ve been my top pick.
@@guitarman123456789 There have been several owners very happy with these right out of the box but i have also seen quite a few of these with bad issues! I decided not to gamble and bought a 2022 standard on sale in Iced tea(Same as southern fade) with the AAA top. Yeah it was a good deal more money but i needed the peace of mind right now. The only other Gibson i own is a R7 goldtop which i love. I always wanted a burst in iced tea so i said you only live once and just bought it.
@@ClintsGuitarsNGear I decided to just get the Gibson i have always wanted well sort of. What i really wanted was a VOS 59 reissue but those start at 6K+ and there is no way i could spend that much. so i went with a 2022 standard which was much less expensive. Gibson is insane charging that much regardless of how nice the VOS R9's are.
Very punchy sound for the Spoonman riff, love it. I've been considering getting one of these for a while and I just bid for one on ebay after watching this
Hope you win the bid. They're really cool guitars and are a little underated and generally overlooked guitars
@@ClintsGuitarsNGear just got it with my first bid! £297 including postage, result. For sure, especially here barely anyone has heard of G&L and I can't remember ever seeing them in guitar shops
Cheers mate. How long did you think it took to play the speaker in please. Any help would be thoroughly appreciated. If I may ask you. I found a picture of it open. Am I right in thinking that the valves aren't mounted on the circuit board. They're wired onto it. That's awesome if that's correct. Lovely clean You gig bro? Danelectro spotting, lol. I've got two Dearmonds, so lucky, they're beautiful. I really wanted one of each. But you know budget problems. I think they're r ight, saying it's Crossing as a marshall do area. The valves contribute I guess. Could you gig with this? Reverb night be on? Sounds nice. But I've already got a stupid mount of fx. Oh one more question. Have you happened to experiment with valves stop like her 12AU7 or something. You know for the Headroom thing. lol
I'm not really sure how the long it took to break in the speaker as it sounded great the day I got it. I've never really looked into the wiring sorry. I think others have swapped out the tubes however mine is all stock. They're really loud. You could do a gig with it easily. I know others that use them for gigs all the time. I have a 100 watt Boss Katana MK2 212 I use for gigs on occasions though so I keep the Artist tweed tone at home. They're almost their own kinda sound though and are not really Fender or Vox sounding as much as they seem to lean more towards a Marshall type tone I've found which is strange considering the types of tubes they run. The drive channel does get quite gainey for an EL84 Powered amp. Maybe it's because of the pre amp type tubes it uses.
@@ClintsGuitarsNGear thank you kindly. Yeah 12ax7, have a gain factor of 70. Cheers
『p』『r』『o』『m』『o』『s』『m』 🍀
I have this model: it's absolutely beautiful, and sounds & plays great. (Edit: Dude, I was NOT expecting to hear Mazzy Star in a review for an SG-type guitar! You are a obviously a man of good musical taste!)
Yeah thanks. Great guitar. I love Mazzy Star and pretty much most music from the 90's from alternative to grunge to metal.
Sounds like Mazzy Star!
That's correct. 👍

Great job. Rich tones.
Thanks for the review, you play really well. I am very new to guitar and like the metal side of things and was wondering which of the Artist Guitars you would say is the best you tried? I want to buy another one as I have the Grungemaster and Gnosis6, however like the look and sound of the LP6 and TC59. Which would you pick of the Artists you have played? Thanks
The LP6 is probably the best pick for Metal with the active pickups and feels very much like an LTD Eclipse to play. Very comfortable fast neck and nothing gets in your way when your strumming and chugging away. Does clean really well as well in saying that. The TC59 is still completely usable as well even for Metal as the Bullbucker pickups are essentially a really great clone of a Seymour Duncan JB59 which is why they sound so damn good.
Great sound! Could you share yous amp settings?
I wish I could still remember my settings now. I should have put them on screen or in the description. I do remember that I was on the crunch channel with quite low gain and definitely spring reverb and a tiny bit of delay. My EQ was definitely focusing on the mids. I usually always dial back the bass to about a quarter on the katana and set the mids about 3/4 the way up and I'd say the treble was around a little bit past half. That would have been about it. No other effects. I also had the bass roll off knob on the Reverend BC1 set to it's lowest.
Hey mate, I just bought this guitar secondhand and it's fantastic
They're really great guitars. I just purchased the an Artist ST62 in red and It's better than my Fender Vintera 50's Strat. The pickups are just as nice sounding as well. I can't fault it. It kills the Squier Classic Vibe.

Cool Demo/Review. Thankyou. I have Artist Guitars TC59, Cherry58 and Grungemaster. Such amazing Guitars. Quality is excellent and a pleasure to play. Cheers
Thanks greatly appreciate it. They're fantastic guitars. I did a few other tones demos a couple of years ago of the Grunge master, TC59 and the Anniversary 58 brown burst. All amazing guitars for the price. The pickups they use are so good that I'm going to put one in the bridge of my Kramer. They sound very close to a Duncan.
Great démo and awesome playing.Do you have some problem whit a picguard ?
Thanks. I appreciate it. As for the pickguard I'm not sure what you mean. It's the standard pickguard that comes with the Jimmy Page. It's transparent with a rainbow paper insert under it. Have others had problems with them?
@@ClintsGuitarsNGear yes

I'm a few years late lol but awesome cover dude
Oh..wait for it..around the 5:00...dary!
🤘
does this guitar have to use batteries?
Yes it does. One 9v. As long as you don't leave the guitar plugged in and amp on when you're not playing it should last for at least a year though.👍
Squire are great guitars....
They certainly are. I play mostly Squiers or Epiphone guitars most of the time.
Awesome...
Btw , what year is that guitar? Also do you get some minor popping when changing pickups switching on coil tapping ? Thanks
I believe it's a 2017. And I've never noticed any popping in the pickup selector as yet. In your case it could be just some dust or dry joints in the solder or on the pickup selector switch.
