Absolutely lovvvvveeeee these vlogs❤
Thank you 🙏🏽 🥳
Am so inspired by the video thank you ❤… I wanna enter a we think code boot camp but I have no experience with code please give me tricks of what to learn before April please … can you please be my mentor 😊
I was enjoying this video up until you started shrinking the data table before I had a chance to look at it properly, why remove the data while you're still commenting on it?
You can pause to check it properly.
Backend end up working more hours(generally)
Makes sense.
Can I contact you through Discord?
Love the video very insightful. Is a Bcom information systems and technology/information computing with these majors useful to persue ?
That degree will definitely help you get your foot in the door.n
Is it worth it continuing with a diploma in systems development at Boston city campus 🥲
Yes, definitely.
This matter of fullstack is interesting. However, fullstack devs are either FrontEnd devs who can work on backend or vice versa. One is never a specialist in both fields
True
The IT companies in South Africa overcharge for their services because most South African company managers are idiots and don't know how to project manage and work with developers in other countries or even local developers working for themselves. They could save millions but nobody cares because the norm is set. R500 000 for a crap system that does one thing which they can get done for R30 000 if they weren't so clueless.
Not sure I understand what you mean
What certifications do you need to get a Job without a degree? Do employers consider Coursera certificates in Data science /analytics?
Check out my video about certification
No, they're actually do not . Even if you compare it to other industries. They are one of the most underrated and underpaid jobs to ever exist
What are your salary expectations?
Looks like really small monies. Eish!!
lol what’s your salary expectations?
@@TheBrandCodes 30k-35k for a junior
Full stack is a myth, you can’t do both simultaneously. One is a speciality while the other is a support. Most if not all full stack developer who specialise in backend hate UI work even some frontend developer would rather get a UI developer and they just do the integration work.
How can fullstack be a myth? Hell naw!
You can, I just think you can’t master both.
I hate UI..... Actually I'm not good at it😢😅
Hi Nobantu, what is the South african industry impression of the odin project, from what you have heard or seen..
Never heard, will do research.
Hey Nku, don't worry about which resource you use, they don't care. Projects, and I think their projects are really good, or at least same level with a lot of bootcamps in SA.
Insightful, watching from Botswana
🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽
Neat. Keep them coming 😇
You got it! 🙌🏽
because backend devs do the hard things and can do the entire stack if they needed to. Fullstack is a new buzzword
Great video ❤🎉 thanks, i wanted to see the programming languages, salaries, and wala i know all of the displayed languages 😊 which i like for me to choose which ones to focus on❤....Full-stack devs does everything but also consider front-end and back-end devs within the company so Full-stack devs don't do much✨️ They work half half like assisting everywhere
Thank you That’s true.
very very much underpaid
lol what’s your salary expectations?
@@TheBrandCodes graduate should start at 30K, all seniors should be above 100K easy, imagine 10+ years experience but getting 90K that's day light robbery. It's even more depressing to see that some of the salaries are decreasing whilst the cost of living is going up.
I think Full Stack Developers are underrated, especially in these big companies. In the small companies is where they get appreciated as they get to handles a whole project on their own. Jack of all trades, master of none, but better than a master of one.
You make a very valid point hey.
In small companies they don’t get paid much
To be honest, Durban should be last. I worked there for 4 years & could barely survive on my salary. Everything changed when I got an offer in CPT, got almost triple what I was getting in DBN. Most of my friends I was at varsity with either moved to JHB or CPT due to the same reason. DBN ridiculously underpays, even worse if you are a person of color.
Damn, I was also surprised that it actually pays more than Pretoria and JHB, and I thought there are less opportunities in Durban.
@ well I mean it's a survey, which might be mostly consisting of highly paid devs from Durban which might obscure the results towards Durban being the city that pays more. But I'm 100% sure it's not, not only saying that because of my experience while I was there. Devs live a lot comfortably in PTA, JHB & CTP compared to DBN.
It might be because of skill issue. You can't do backend and frontend simultaneously and still be good at both. Backend has a lot of complications, and most of these fullstack developers are not creating websites that users enjoy.
I never looked at it that way hey 🤔 Thank you for the insight.
@ThabangXaba-pn2cl so it is wise that one chooses one of the two and specialize in it in order to be skilled deeply?
To be honest I am a Full Stack Dev and I have been doing it professionally for 4 years now...the most thing I like is working on Both Front end and Back end, including integrations and plus deployments...so you have to extremely invest in upskilling and research.
In terms of creating what users don't enjoy again goes to skill issue.
your vlogs are so wholesome❤
Thank you ☺️
Regarding backend developers earning more than Fullstacks. As a tech lead, I do interviews and often I find most people especially below 5 years of experience who call themselves full-stack devs are not really what they are. In most cases they would have done a few tutorials on UA-cam then qualify themselves as Full-stacks. Now when they are asked to do real life projects, they struggle and end up not getting high salary pecks.
Well relative to the US, it's peanuts.
That is 100% true
cost of living is a thing
True but even with that factored in, entry level software engineer at a decent company makes way more in the US. Not everyone in the US lives in expensive areas. But I enjoyed this video since I haven't seen South Africans talk about it. My best advice is to work for a multinational
@Skyre0 the best is working for a US company remotely.
Hey my Dear I'm an AI enthusiast 😅Nd I've came across lots of video's including yours about tech life so like do you think coding with Ai can be a thing since now its revolving and shaping the world 🌎
yes, coding with AI is definitely a thing, and it’s a skill worth exploring! It's shaping the future of tech, and it's exciting to see how far it can go.
The backend earning more than fullstack is a bit weird, but yes the salaries are appealing.
There’s a comment that explains why and it makes sense.
I've seen that two yrs ago it was the case that backend earns more. Even the 2024 report from Offerzen last yr it was still the case. I'm surprised to see this result for 2025
These stats are not make sure tbh😂😂 i don't know anything thou I'm still in uni
lol what do you mean?
I thought I was the only one 😅. It's everything I thought I knew is just shifting to senior developers, just like in the case of backend vs frontend, or react vs angular, or for the fact that Ruby is on that state for entry level 😮. But then again, what do I know, I'm just a student
Hey Nobantu🤗🤗 what's your stack? Also, can you maybe do a video on what it's like in the industry compared to a learning institution and what students should focus on at school to make them industry ready. Thank youuuuu❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🍀
Hey It’s typescript and Vue.js I will do it 👍🏽
From what I have read, Java & C# seem to be where the industry is going for.
Hi, what laptop would you recommend for a first year Computer Science student?
Get a laptop with an Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5, 8GB RAM (16GB is better), and an SSD (256GB+); it’s perfect for coding and multitasking!
Ey Java is king neh, JavaScript frameworks pay well too yohh, nna i thought this C# thingi is paying the most, since its dominating, kanti haaa, Java, Python and JavaScript frameworks, still pay good, wow😅
As for “C# thingi “ 🤣🤣🤣
Yeyyy🎉❤

How does one participate?
