love this song, thanks for uploading
Stoked to see him in Portland next week!
OMG this is 🔥🔥🔥 Thanks for posting!!
I thought this man was just a myth and not a real person. There he is. Where is this btw?
Chris outshone Larry here imo
THAT TONE!!!!!!!!!! INCREDIBLE Chris!!!!! got me down on that bended Knee
cameraman had one job, one job!!
I met Chris the other day in Palmerston North, NZ. What a cool guy and gentlemen. 2/09/2023
Truly incredible!
Larry C seemed almost deflated by CC's soloing and turned in a rather average two chorus's before nodding to Chris to come back in with the vocals. Normally the great players inspire and bounce off one another. Larry certainly doesn't lack the chops!
What a lame solo by Carlton

Both are great musicians….the blues is the best place to meet and have fun….American and the World’s common ground..☮️🎶🔛🌎
Larry Carlton is the best
As for “Can a white man play the blues?” May I introduce Mr Chris Cain …
Chris Cain is of Greek and African-American heritage.
Two great Cali Boys at play.
Es admirable como ponen alma en tocar blues...Caín genial...Carlitos incomparable
Larry is a one off
I’m a big fan of Larry. But seems he was blown away by Chris. Larry is showing great respect to him by playing soft. That’s just my guess…
Been a fan of Larry since the Crusaders and Chris when I saw him at Larry Blakes in Berkeley- probably mid 80's. Nice to see them play together. Both are amazing players.
Two greats,thanks.
If you want to understand just how good Chris Cain is, just watch Larry's facial expressions, as he wryly smiles pretty much throughout Chris' solo!!
Hope that getting to jam with the great Larry Carlton gets Chris some badly needed recognition , even with his huge B.B. King influences he is one of the greatest bluesmen going...none better...his solos are sublime , as are his vocals ....
Chrs Cain estuvo aqui en Argentina, es un animal del blues.
Chris has a way of leaving some great players dumbfounded.
the reaction of Larry Carlton at 3.07 is priceless!
BB lives on!
Larry. So many dissing Larry. Real lame. Larry's been making bands great for 45yrs, sitting in the background and adding so much. Chris is great, Larry is great. Both quite different in style and character. So many top bands have relied on Larry to get them to the pinnacle, and here he fills for Chris. Always the quiet giant, always unpretentious, unassuming. This wasn't a competition. Larry is a guitar God and plays anything and everything. Go look at his studio history and what bands have relied on his talent. To say stupid shyt like "Larry got his ass handed to him" only shows naivete and ignorance.
If you choose make a post about music by dissing Larry Carlton, then you will be exposed as someone whose opinion should be considered irrelevant.
I knew Chris back in the day, back in the 80s. I'm extremely proud to see him playing with folks like Robben Ford and Larry Carlton, both of whom he held and holds in high esteem. So cool.
Larry is so good he purposely turns it down so he doesn't steal the show
Chris Cain definitely slipped under my radar - very direct and honest playing!!
buenisimo!!!!! abrazo desde Montevideo
I discovered Chris Cain in 1991 with his fantastic snd album Cuttin' Loose and fell in love with his playing instantly. If true talent was to be rewarded, CC would have sold millions of albums throughout the world. Sadly our world doesn't work like that ...
Well said! 😎👍🏻
Same 4 yours
Chris is just MAGIC
Volker Strifler rulezzzz!
Carlton got his ass handed to him....Thank You Plain & Simple
Chris's great, but listen a little more closely to the whole piece. Larry's doing what he's done for a living for 50 years..helping make others sound good.
+Steve Stavropoulos It's not a competition
+Steve Stavropoulos - of course some ignoramus has to come along and say something like this. So Carlton chose not to cut heads. How is that getting his ass handed to him, genius?
+xmandlt As a musician I know exactly where I'm coming from and why....See Ya
As a musician you should know that it's not a freaking competition. You don't seem to know that very simple fact. Could it be that you're just talking straight out of your own ass?
Chris Cain's an amazing guitarist and singer. Thanks for posting.
What these two great players obviously share is a deep and abiding respect for BB King who is the immortal foundation on which this kind of playing is built.Chris sings very much in the BB style as well.Great stuff.
Borderline minstrelsy.
Chris is incredible & plays straight from the heart. Just FYI his dad was black.
why is everyone so interested in who whips whose ass? Chris is a beast on guitar, as is Larry. Let's leave the dick size thing at home and listen to what both of 'em have to contribute, no?
wtf ... you can't spell either :)
You're saying Chris Cain is a show boater and isn't tasteful? I'm saying you're only as good as your last riff and history don't help you play your axe.
And then i misspelled his name and left out the L. l.o.l.
Larry Carton(no e) isn't a showboater.He's a tasteful studio player thats done some beautiful fusion,instrumental work.He not an ass whipper or whipp(e}
Larry Carlton isn't so great and Chris just Cained him !!
you are an ass
To say that CC is not in the same league as LC is like saying B.B. is not in the same league as Albert or Freddie King. Neither one needs to prove anything. They are peers who mutually respect each other. CC is a long time close friend of the Ford (Robben) brothers who hold him in the highest regard! LC would be so embarrassed that anyone would even suggest that CC is not in the same league as he is.I invite anyone to say this to LC himself in person & watch him cringe. Guaranteed.
WOW! two of the best on stage together! wish i could have been there.
sad,but so true.
One aspect of his talent is making the whole sound good. He disappears ijnto the background and makes others sound good. Listen to Fourplay or any one of the 30 Album's he has released to hear really tasteful playing..This is not to Diminish Chris Cain but he is not in the same league as Larry. Larry does not need to prove himself as a soloist every time he plays. Don't overlook that it was Larry who invited Chris to join him and as always he was a tasteful and gracious host to his quest.
For over 40 years Larry Carlton's name has been synonymous with tasteful Jazz-blues.In 1988 he was shot and suffered nerve damage and had to relearn playing the guitar he did and finished recording "On Solid Ground". Larry became the guitarist in "Fourplay" in 1997. Few musician's have had such a distinguished career. One part of his talent is putting the music first. He was on of L.A.'s premier studio Guitarist's and played on Hundreds of records in the 70's.
I agree, the man is fabulous live, and great as well in the studio.
