The Light’s In the Way - Uncle Larry Impersonation @501chorusecho
Can somebody move that light? Why do I keep hitting it?
All in good fun, paying homage to everyone’s favorite uncle and all the Larry-isms I’ve come to know over the last 4 years.
Pardon the bad acting……

*Disclaimer* I tuned to the record before I recorded this… but it still sounds slightly flat. 🤷♂️ I’ve been working on this song for a bit, thought I’d post it and see if there’s any interest in ARS. As always, I try and stick as close to the original as possible, but throw my own ideas in as well. Gear used: 2021 Epiphone IBG 335 1976 Peavey Deuce 240T

Gettin the old Deuce dialed in, maybe somebody will want me to bring it out and play this year… who knows. Running through some Charlie Starr and Gary Rossington tones. This amp does that thing well. 2021 Epiphone inspired by Gibson ES-335 Straight into the normal channel, no pedals.

Wasn’t happy with the quality of the last video I uploaded, so I took a minute to redo this one. My friend Tommy and I used to talk about how cool it would be to learn this song. Since I’d played bluegrass primarily for ~10 years, I guess it should’ve been a no brainer to try this one given all the alternate picking in it. Here’s my best take at it so far, I’ve been working on it steadily this ...

Had this tune on my mind, and had the record spinning. Seemed like just the thing to do was tune the tele down 1/2 step flat and do my best James Burton impression. Gear used: -1996 ‘52 reissue tele -Blues Junior -no effects other than amp reverb #guitar #telecaster #merlehaggard

Testing a new “partscaster” build with the mighty Peavey Deuce240T. This guitar has been together for a month now and is beginning to settle in nicely. Parts include. -Squier neck -Unknown body -Wilkinson bridge and tuners -250k CTS pots & Orange Drop cap -DiMarzio flat pole pickup These parts came together and sound nice for a cheaper than average build. Playing it through my 1975 Peavey Deuce...

Steve Gaines/Lynyrd Skynyrd Compilation | Peavey Deuce/Strat

After some extensive playing and tweaking this 48 year old amp, plugging in my old 1998 Mexican Squier Strat (nothing original except the body and neck) yielded some pretty convincing Street Survivors tones. Here is a compilation of a few of my favorite Steve Gaines songs from this album. I always reflect this time of year after the date of the plane crash, what could have been….. Steve, undoub...
Peavey Deuce 240T - Skynyrd Tones

An oldie but goodie, I’m sure some tone snobs will disagree, but I don’t mind. This journey started a year and a half ago when I bought this 1975 Deuce, little brother to the famous Mace that Lynyrd Skynyrd famously used. The amp would power on, but had a terrible hum, and 1 speaker didn’t work. It had 2 mismatched fender speakers, and a microphonic power tube. I had a tech source some speakers...

Very nice job man. Sounded spot on to my ears.
killed it, great
Niiiice
Is this plugged straight into the amp??
Yep, straight into the normal channel.
You did just fine bro!
Like it !!!
Sounds great brother!
🤣🤣🤣 Well done!
Is that a Nash ???
Nah, 1996 MIJ 52 reissue
But wait, our forefathers washed their clothes on rocks. How lazy do you have to be to use an electric string winder???
Ha ha Nice Job! You wanna sell that Tele?
Nah, think I better keep it
Goddamn light !
😊
HAHAHA
Good job on getting the same beer belly.
Haven’t drank a beer in years but I did drive a truck and operate heavy equipment for 10 years, so there’s that….
Ed sounds like he's from Nashville.
I have been there a time or two.. 😁
Maybe my favourite so far. I was hoping someone would do the workbench angle.
You put all the strings through at the beginning just like I do. Don't tell Larry. We need all the advantage we can get.
You look just like him and you captured the bench shot setup and staging very well!
Hello friend, nice job there you got it down!
Peaveys don't blow up like Marshall's did back in the day, I feel. That's why they used peavey. Alsy they are cheaper a lot cheaper biased d on the cold side but fender did the same thing. Fenders sound like crap jf you try to bias them hot. Marshall's sound crappy biased cold. It's all about the circuit design..
The olive oil 🤣🤣🤣
Ouch! That light!
I’m willing to pay 500 to any one who will slowly play this and tab it out in detail . Let’s go
Perfect dismount!
cool Man Cool !
I may haft to catch it fast. But I know the main thing, and that's, that it's Right!
I regret selling my 81 Classic VT great amp just was too heavy for me.
I understand. These amps can put a hurtin’ on your back!
Dude this is one of the closest videos I've seen on here to nailing Skynyrd tone but the playing and feel is even more impressive. Nice work!
Thanks!
Sheets playing and singing! Thanks for sharing. The tone is spot on
Thanks! I appreciate it!
HOLY SHITTT DUDE i need those settings!!!
It does a thing, and does it quite well. I’m running through the normal channel with the eq set bass:2-3 and the treble:4 depending on guitar. Strat needs a touch more bass, and a Gibson style with humbuckers less bass. Channel volume on 8-9 and master volume on 2. It’s plenty loud like that for home use.
@@Southern.child86thank ya brother!
Hi Ed, this sounds fantastic, and great riffin! Do you remember exactly what Eminence speakers you put in? Cheers
Dan, They’re “Eminence designed” speakers out of an old Crate 2-12” amp. These have a large dust cap indicating they’re made similar to any other more efficient speakers. (Black Widows, JBL, etc.) I’ve only had the amp up to 3 on the master volume with the channel volume around 8-9, I can tell you it holds together and doesn’t flub out. I can’t imagine how loud it could get if I turned it up any more lol. I’m sure my neighbors would appreciate it if I don’t…..
Nice!
Thanks! I appreciate it!
Wow! Great playing, you really nailed Skynyrd!
Thanks a lot!
That sounds sa-WEET!
Thanks!
Nice tone brother
Thanks!
@@Southern.child86 If you don't mind me asking, what are your settings?
@@kidsniffer2654 I’m running through the normal channel with the eq set bass:2-3 and the treble:4 depending on guitar. Strat needs a touch more bass, and a Gibson style with humbuckers less bass. Channel volume on 8-9 and master volume on 2. It’s plenty loud like that for home use.

very nice!

Ed I really like your demonstration!! Thanks. I'm in the market for a Peavey Deuce just like the one you're using. Do I want to find one with Eminence speakers, or Celestians or Black Widows for the best Skynyrd tone possible? Thanks for your help! Karl
Thanks Karl! I’d recommend getting any variation you could find, speakers are easy to swap if need be. The black widows would be ideal but remember, they will be the heaviest due to their large magnets and cast frame. These Eminence speakers were some that my friend had in an old crate 2-12 amp that were the right resistance to go into this amp. A happy accident, or just what was available lol. These amps are a lot more cost effective than spending lots of money on a Fender or Marshall that would do the same thing. It’ll help you decide if this type amp is right for the sound you’re chasing. How this helps, and thanks for watching!
looking at buying one of these for this kind of tone. you convinced me! haha. Cool video, thanks for posting.
It’s a lot cheaper than a boutique amp and pedalboard 😆. Not that I’m saying it’s better, but it works for me. Glad you enjoyed it!
Sounds great
Thanks!
I have an Artist 240 with the metal knobs. Sounds great
Have you played around with the phaser on there? To my knowledge Gary always kept it on but on a really slow setting
I never have, mainly due to this model not having a phaser. The deuce nor the mace of this time period had an onboard phaser, only reverb and tremolo. I can’t speak for the later versions of either amp. Here’s a link to their owners manuals: assets.peavey.com/literature/manuals/80347000.pdf assets.peavey.com/literature/manuals/deuce.pdf
Need a seashell for a pic like ed king used to get those pinch notes. Said he would get them off the beach...
Id rather listen to gaines as any shredder anyday
You think Gill was using a strat on this or that white tele? Sounds like a strat
I believe he’s said before he used his Strat with EMG’s.
Brustbucker, and that's it! 😂
great amp
Fantastic
It’s sounds perfect !
