Man Down on the Yorkshire Trails
Jonathan had planned a route around Yorkshire, which was full of twusty roads, scenic views, and off-road trails.
Unfortunately, we had to cut the day short as Jon injured his leg on one of the trails and was unable to stand on his bike.
I also didn't plan ahead and bring a battery pack or a charging cable to charge my camera.
I have recorded a section of the route on Wikiloc, which i am going to start recording all of my days out on. See a link to my profile below.

Another Day, Another Crash in the Peaks

Another day out in the Peaks ends again in me coming off my bike making another silly mistake. But it's all a learning curve. we were following a track from the app Wikiloc which is well worth looking into if you want hiking, biking, green lanes ect. unfortunately we got rained off so we called it a day early and headed home. #bmw #bmwr1200gs #r1200gs #insta360acepro #insta360 #wikiloc #greenla...

After a cold drink and an ice-cream myself, Paul and Jonathan set off to do a bit of off-roading. #1200gs #bigbike #bmw #bmw1200gs #insta360 #insta360acepro #greenlanes #greenlane #triumph #triumphtiger900 #triumphtiger800 #gsadventure

This week I had a falling out with GoPro. once again I lost an entire day's worth of footage. So I sold all of my GoPros and purchased the Insta360 AcePro. I mounted the camera to my helmet and set off in a group of 5 on a ride through the Peaks. The recording settings I used were as follows 4k 30fps HDR on Stability Normal #insta360 #insta360acepro #1200gs #bigbike #bmw #bmw1200gs

Snap, have the same himalayan. Its been holding itself well so far on most tracks even on the oem tyres. Definitely need to get more offroad orientated ones though to deal with slick mud.

These motorcycles are clearly too heavy for you guys. In 1973 I bought a used 1957 Wittler for £10 and mounted a new headlight for £20. I used it on road and off road, had great fun and learned a lot. These skills transfer very well to larger motorcycles.

I would love to have a smaller bike. Can't afford one though so I make do with what I've got and I enjoy it. What big bike did you end up getting after? Or did you transition through from a light bike to mid then on to a bigger bike?

Small bikes are far better for trails . Big bikes are not for those lanes ,

Thanks for watching. I would like to have a smaller bike to try this out and compare both but financially, that's not possible. Big bikes are more than capable of riding on these lanes. It's the skill and confidence of the rider which is the issue. One day my skill level will be a lot better than what it is currently as every time I venture out, I learn more about the bike and myself. The other issue is that this is my only transport so if I break it then I can't get to work. One day I will hopefully have something else to use along side. Once again, thanks for watching and commenting. Ride safe ✌️

Hi Ray. Thank you for taking the time to watch. We certainly do enjoy a challenge and the good news is I have a new Comms set up which records Mesh talk really well so you will seen hopefully be able to listen to the absolute shite we talk about on the way round. I was looking at the Carpurid a few weeks ago. I'm debating is and hopefully I can link my drone to it and then strap the controller to my bike so we can try and get some drone footage too. That could be a good future plan. Well done on the trip to Portugal, that must have been an amazing ride. A group of us may possibly taking a trip to the Pyrenees next year so I want to get everything boxed off for that trip so I can document it as much as possible. Thanks again for watching and ride safe ✌️

Thank you for watching. It's my phone on a quadlock wireless charger using DMD2, which you can get from google Play Store or apple Store. It has a tone of features and can be customised to what you want by adding app widgets and maps, etc. Then i use the carpe Iter bmw controls so i can use my phone with the Wonder Wheel and added buttons on my handle bars. DMD2 is something I've only just started dabbing with, but it seems very good so far, but there are a few bits where you have to pay extra to get full functionality, which im contemplating doing

Trail riding is fun but I think on the GSA it’s not as much fun as with small lightweight bikes . Dropping a GS is not fun to up right on you own. With Road biased tyres it’s a nightmare. Great video thanks .😊

Thank you for taking the time to watch. I tend do not go out on lanes on my own now for just that reason. Way to heavy. I've not been on a light weight bike since I was a kid so I can remember any different. I would like to try a light weight bike, but I fear it would lead to the wife shouting at me, when she sees another bike in the garage 😂.

@@thechunkybiker6944 It looks like you haven't been on any bike since you were a kid. The R1200GS can be a bit intimidating if you don't have a lot of experience. You could sell it and buy a smaller motorcycle. Then buy something nice for your wife or take her on a holiday for some of the money you have left.

Been a few years since I rode Houndkirk(early 2000's) The top of the moor was open, no fence, no wall. The moor was still trying to recover from the fire in the early 70's. After the fire the bridge you cross actually got blocked as the top layer was washed off the moorland and filled to the top of the bridge so it over flowed. That is also the reason the track is wide in places due to equipment required to fight the fire also stripped and widened the original track as they got stuck. Also all those puddles did not exist, it use to be like a seaside beach, the sand washed off the moor and was deposited as a soft flat ground. There is also a gas pipe running under at one point, watch, for white posts with orange markers.(for the helicopter to survey)

    • @thechunkybiker6944
      @thechunkybiker6944 8 місяців тому

That definitely explains the interesting layout of the road, if fire fighting equipment was brought in. Definitely something new learnt there 👍
