Hi! We're Troy and Sarah, a married couple for 21 years, living in Southern Indiana. We are a homeschooling family with 6 beautiful children and just enough land for cows, chickens, goats, a devoted dog, 2 cats, and the annual garden, which never lives up to my hopes and/dreams. Maybe this year... right?!
Whether it's family stuff, land maintenance, or a building project, we love working together.
So we thought we would try to start vlogging our next adventure...a family campsite.
We have lots of ideas for this little piece of property, God willing. We want to create a getaway where time will happily be spent with family and friends for years to come.
Please be patient with us, and give us lots of grace, as we are new to videography!
If you've somehow found yourself here, then thanks for watching!!

We need to install more headers, floor joists, and blocking to extend our main structure over to the upright beams. Plus, at the end, we give a cost analysis of how much we've spent to get this far into the project. Thank you for watching. As always, we are so appreciative of your support and engagement!! Post & Beam Support to Raise this Roof!!
Переглядів 1,6 тис.22 дні тому
Before we can raise the roof on this structure, we need to beef it up, post and beam style. We're using rough-sawn 8 X 8 oak beams to do the trick. Thank you for watching! As a young channel, we greatly appreciate all of your support! Lol she's wrong and then insults yep feel your pain bro
Oh, wait... I didn't mean it as an insult. I actually really like him... Like, 21 years of marriage and half a dozen kids worth of liking him. 👶👶👶👶👶👶 He's my "make it happen Man"
Man I have a really nice heavy duty 20 ft aluminum walk plank I wish I could loan you.
Wish we were neighbors...
It’s yours, build it the way you want it
Think people, the industry is wrong. We insulate the ceiling with R 38 and then our walls are R28. Bad idea. 2x10 exterior walls is needed. The furnance heats a house as a whole not just the ceiling
I was thinking open floor plan that needs 2x8 wall for support
I like seeing couples working together. Hope y'all have a Merry Christmas. I watch y'all from Memphis TN.
Beautiful, beautiful TN! Thanks for watching & merry Christmas
Some folks are wondering who is cooking dinner. 🤪
Seriously, the most insightful comment yet! It's so hard being a builder, a mom, the cook, and the laundress.
Excellent editing of your videos make it a pleasure to watch.
Thank you for saying that.
Let's not rip them in half and have a 2 * 4 s an a larger structure.. come on now..
Wow the mill at night looks awesome
Thanks. It helps that we finally got in there and cleaned it up!
Structurally stronger and you can put more insulation in there to make it more thermally efficient. If I were building a house in Northern Alaska I want to use 2X12's
Thats amazing an u no its done correct!!
This is amazing to actually have and kno how to use 🤟🤟
What I'm wondering is why are you building that wall upright like that?
There were 4 8x8 beams interspersed throughout the length of the wall. Made it easier to go with it upright.
Great job guys. Merry Christmas and happy new year. Keep pushing forward!
Thank you. And we hope you have a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Be well!
technically you had 2x8 2x6 2x4 2x2 you just got lazy 😅😂 pull out the table saw aha
Poverty breeds perseverance
I wonder why you would stick build in place on an unobstructed wall.
Well done as it looked a heavy job
Thank you
You guys are living. Have a Merry Christmas!
Thanks! Merry Christmas to you, as well!
Every step along the way becomes a victory, it's nice to see you working together as a family in pursuit of a rewarding goal, Merry Christmas and may this coming year be very blessed and full of many achievements, greetings from Costa Rica 🇨🇷.
You're right! Each little step has felt like quite a victory. Thank you for your kind words, Jose! Feliz Navidad y prospero año!
@@GetawayRidge❤Feliz Navidad y que este nuevo año venga lleno de muchas bendiciones!!! Waiting for the coming adventures
Great work you two from the UK
Hello, John in UK! Does this mean we're mates? 😉 Thanks for watching.
@ yes absolutely
Really starting to look like something 👀 You’re guys videos for some reason make me happy to see 😊 Gotta say though watching you out there on the end of that metal plank had me feeling a little tense 😬 Anyways thanks for taking time to take and post the videos. Not sure but they seem like there getting a bit longer , a good thing 😎
It was a tense moment for Sarah, too! We never know if folks will like the longer videos or not. But thanks for watching and hanging out with us.
The real question is why are you setting studs like that 😂
I’m a retired commercial, union carpenter from Washington state and you guys are a hard-working couple and you’re such a lucky guy to have a hard work woman next to you and merry Christmas and happy new year
Thank you for those kind words, and thank you for watching. We hope you have a very memorable Christmas and a prosperous New Year! Be well.
@gdunton1 Good health is a blessing we should never take for granted. I hope this Christmas together makes up for the moments lost last year. Congratulations on your upcoming grandbaby. Can't wait to hear about Grandparent life. Here's to 2025! Your friends in Indiana
Fantastic job, you should be proud. Once subscribed I went back and watched all your videos, glad I did. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, thank you!
Well this year I’m grateful we will get to spend. Christmas at home with my wife/kids mom. Last Christmas we spent it in ICU while she was in a medically induced coma. So we are blessed. Our 23 anniversary is in 2025 and there is a chance we will be first time grand parents on that day. (Online marriage like yall). So we are blessed. I hope you take the time to acknowledge how lucky you are too. Blessings to your family. merry Christmas. Your friend in Virginia. Oh and the house is looking awesome will there be a porch under the second floor? So excited for your continued journey in 2025.
Also, is your journey online to watch?
Make cut in shelves throughout the wall. 👍
More people are gonna ask why you are stick framing that wall in the most bizarre manner possible lol
Oh, it's happening! Hopefully, they'll watch our longer videos on our channel, and it will make more sense there. 🤞👍
Yo clowns…… these arent exterior walls for a house. Look at height
Wtf are tgey building?
That’s an odd way of building a wall, but if it works it works
Check out our longer videos, and hopefully, it will seem more logical. Thanks!
Tbh youre gonna need a better answer. You could maybe return those boards and get the appropriate size and potentially save $100s. If not $1000s.
It was our own rough-sawn lumber, and that's what we had left on the stack after we used up the 2 x 6's.
The fact that they're not laying the wall down first shows me that they aren't even really famous
Haha! We are NOT famous, that's for sure. We had 4 upright beams interspersed in the wall, which is why we didn't start the wall lying down.
Actual 2x8s by the look of it too, park a truck on that wall 😅
Rip them and boom you have twice as many 2x4s.
I'd a spit the boards in half and made 2x4. What a waste.
Woman asks about size,’? It’s all we have.
😂
So many want those boards ripped in half. No one noticed they're less than 6 ft long. He knows what he's building.
Well, alright! Thank you, brother.
Because its better....bigger is better
That's what she said...
Good idea if you’re not planing on insulation being a money problem
The last time we built was 10 years ago. Now, the whole process feels like a money problem. 💰💰
@ dude it’s crazy out here
That shits so damn sturdy
🤣
Coulda ripped them down and got 2 studs out of one. If that’s a wall you’re building. I love being resourceful an using leftover to build something for free or very low cost 😅❤
Seriously! If everyone could afford two by eights everything would be built that way! That's awesome brother I love it
Thank you! You get it!
Some people are gonna wonder where are your safety glasses😂
Very true...and all the other safety equipment
I thought she was going to ask why aren't you building that on the ground and then stand the wall up
