Hello! Could you recommend a guide for Ontario Canada? I'm in Eastern Ontario
Thank you for this information. Well explained and perfectly presentated!
Very well explained thank you!
I really liked that, thank you very much!
Thank you so much
Thanks for such an interesting and useful talk. That cane tip is brilliant!
Trump killed all the moss, drumpf
This entire video is gold <3 PS I am at Bangor doing MSc Agroforestry! Need to get out into the rainforest more
Excellent video! As one who has just started out with this new hobby, the ten examples were super helpful :) Keep up the great work!
Great presentation! I LOVE mosses AND THIS WAS VERY INFORMATIVE!!!
Wonderful presentation, thank you!

Incredible video thank you Stephen!
What an incredibly helpful video, thank you Stephen!
I find the leafy liverworts are too invasive and since their leaf cover the surface area, it prevents other moss to grow and water does not penetrate as easy.
Very interesting presentation. Thank you!
This is great. Thanks!
I'm absolutely intriqued by mosses & company. they are so pretty in their lushness and some even when the are dried up. Their ability to endureis an often overlooked everyday wonder an fascinates me every time. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Greetings from Germany
just one more Question: could you ask your moss loving friends if they know anything about moss as a habitat for hoverfly larva? i want to encourage more hoverflies into my garden and i am told they like hollows in trees and moist environments, so it made me wonder if they lay eggs in living moss as well as rotting vegetation?
the larva of some species feed on aphids. Be sure to keep some of them arround. Hope this is helpful! greetings from Germany
and finally! can you provide a link to a clip on all the common mosses and lichens one is likely to find in urban areas?
also, do the spores of british species appear at a specific time of year or can they fruit at any time, even in winter?
which moss would you suggest if i wanted to create a small area that would tolerate occasionally being walked on barefoot. it would have to be rich emerald green, and be either 1. soft and springy or 2. velvety smooth (and dense) like a bowling green. also, would i need to gather it all from the wild, or would it be possible to propagate some from spores; if so, how long would it take to form and completely cover an area?
in my experience Sphagnum moses (that maybe already grow on your lawn) is quite usable for that. I made this former plague into a delight since I struggled with the moss on the lawn al the time. until I thought why not trying it the other way arroundby trying to keep and cultivate the moos. I hope you could understand what I'm trying to say. English is not my first language, but
Thank you so much! This was an excellent talk and very informative. I find it quite difficult to find videos on mosses and lichens that don't just scratch the surface. I found your talk that dove deeper than the typical 10 min video enlightening. Due to Covid, many organizations such as yours are publishing their zoom workshops and lectures and I am incredibly grateful to be able to virtually attend and find these treasures on UA-cam. So hello from Canmore, Alberta, Canada!
Very helpful and useful introduction Lucia, thank you.
Sehr schön...hat Spaß gemacht sich anzuschauen. Viele liebe Grüße Jörn
Fabulous course Lucia! A lot of the species you have covered can also be found in the Celtic Rainforest of the Lake District making this was a lovely refresher.
Excellent session with a very knowledgeable and engaging young naturalist. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Good stuff!
