Words by Alfred Lord Tennyson Music by Rani Arbo, arr. Peter Amidon This song was recorded on a smartphone at the end of a video recording day when we, as an ensemble, decided on impulse to sing this one more time together before we parted ways. It has been such a privilege to sing together this year, and we look forward to sharing some other videos with you later this year. Video Credits: Myro...

Best muaic ever
Have long known and been moved by Alfred, Lord Tennyson's 1889 poem, but only recently discovered that it had been set to music. I hope people listening to this as music 🎶 listen clearly to the words, or read the poem, so that when the last line of a poem about a ship leaving harbour at nightfall turns out not really to have been about that at all, they understand: '...Twilight and evening bell, And after that the Dark! And may there be no sadness of farewell, When I embark; For though throughout our bourne of Time and Place The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my pilot face to face When I have crost the bar.' Bourne = boundary (or destination) Bar = Sand bar, separating the harbour from the open sea This is a good performance by the Mennonite Choir, although this musical 🎼 setting of the poem is not as good as Parry's setting of William Blake's Jerusalem or Holst's setting of Christina Rossetti's 'In the Bleak Midwinter'.
Does anyone still know/sing/love Joseph Barnby's setting of this poem? It is more direct: through-composed with no repeated words.
I am so blessed by your singing and praise to our Great God.
Lyrics: The towering tree spreads his greening canopy -A veil between the soil and sky- Not in selfish vanity, But the gentle thrush to shade and shelter. So it is with love. . For when we love, Simply love, Even as we are loved, Our weary world can be transformed. . The busy thrush builds her nest below -A fortnight’s work to weave and set- Not for herself alone, But her tender brood to shield and cherish. And so it is with love. . For when we love, Simply love, Even as we are loved, Our weary world can be transformed Into the Kingdom of God!
this is my jam
Hallelujah! What a wonderful Redeemer & Friend.
How great the chasm that lay between us How high the mountain I could not climb In desperation, I turned to heaven And spoke Your name into the night Then through the darkness, Your loving kindness Tore through the shadows of my soul The work is finished, the end is written Jesus Christ, my living hope
Bless you brothers and sisters in Christ. Thank you for this song 🙏
When your last to be picked at soccer tryouts.
Revelation 5:1-14❤
Im from Scotland,🏴,not religious but man ,This singing and these songs touch my heart somehow. Love it ❤you guys are fantastic.
If I can help somebody, as I pass along, If I can cheer somebody, with a word or song, If I can show somebody, how they're travelling wrong, Then my living shall not be in vain. Chorus: My living shall not be in vain, Then my living shall not be in vain If I can help somebody, as I pass along, Then my living shall not be in vain. If I can do my duty, as a good man ought, If I can bring back beauty, to a world up wrought, If I can spread love's message, as the Master taught, Then my living shall not be in vain.
Read Revelation 5, you'll understand the whole hymm.
Why some have no headcovering ?
Thank you for this beautiful music in such a peaceful natural setting. First Corinthians 13, the love chapter
magical. may peace be with you all
This helps give me hope in my relationship with God but also for the fact that singing can be done without a music instrument. I am learning the piano keyboard and it is challenging. For vocal singing in hymns, I would love information on how you do the vocal notes. But this music brings a feeling of joy and peace into my home.
strange echo in this recording.
Beautiful arrangement, beautiful voices. Thank you.
Practiced and perfected for the Glory of our Lord, Jesus Christ! That is pure worship!
absolutely lovely. may peace be with you
❤
That is truly lovely, heartfelt and peaceful setting/performance.
I have gotten a taste of heaven
I do not know her, but I think she has the voice of her mother and serene countenance of her father.... the simplicity in singing, dressing, expression and demeanor , is a true representation of what BIBLICAL TRUE CHRISTIANITY must be - Love from your brethren in the mother land (I am an SDA)
Generations ago, there was no music in the Mennonite church, at least not in the church my ancestors belonged to. So glad to hear this is not so today. God given voices should always praise God in any form. This is a beautiful ensemble.
Thanks
There is a technique your basses may like to investigate, the low bass sounds of Geoff Castellucci
As long as they sing, we still have hope for this nation
Are people married??
Wonderful Song and Perfect sung from the Ensemble!
So beautiful. What I wouldn't give to be able to sing with a group like this!
I'm a Confessional Lutheran descended from 500 years of Mennonite pastors. In tears feeling Christ's love.
Love this.
Lovely to hear you and see your involvement with the text.
❤
This is absolutely heavenly! Thank you so much. 🙌🏻🕊️
Stunning God given harmony ❤Bless you all for sharing your blessings ❤❤❤❤❤
Oh wow, this is so unknown, so supernatural - for me as a worldly being and a seeker of God! You are so pure, so touching, voices of the heart and beauty. Healing and inviting. Thank you so, so much! God bless you, thank you from Berlin, Germany! 💝
Well done! Very blessed by this.
I ordered this CD a couple weeks ago, and I’ve not taken it out of my car’s CD player since I put it in. Hearing these beautiful voices raised in praise to God puts me in a worshipful mood, even if I’m just on my way to the store. When I’m not in my car, I often listen to the same music on UA-cam. Thank you!
Perfect! Well done ...
Very beautiful. Not sure what all these other comments mean? Just lovely singing, surely?
This is beautiful❤ no mist, no colorful concert like lights, just the voices created by our God😊❤
beautifully balanced. All praise to God.
is there sheet music of this arrangement
I love to hear modern worship songs like this one sung and interpreted in different ways and settings, all for the glory of the One who created it all! Praise the Lord!
2:13
Thank you dear Mennonite group!
