    is customer broker same as freight broker?

    • @coleinternational266
      @coleinternational266 2 роки тому

      Hi there, customs broker and freight broker are not the same. A freight broker is an intermediary between a shipper and freight service provider within a country's borders. A customs broker is the intermediary between an importer, or exporter, and a government's customs department in the country of destination.

    Sorry but the economy has taken a sharp 180 recently. New grads from the local Southern-Ontario truck driving training couses are now finding that they cannot get any work at all in the truck driver fields. They are being told to go and apply for work in the states as the demand is still high over there. If you are a new driver with no experience driving trucks, you are out of luck, no one will hire you here.

    Hello, how do you decide to classify a vehicle part, for example a bracket. Do you go by the function, or material first? What would you say a bracket that supports the radiator pipe from the engine? Great video, thanks

    • @coleinternational266

      Hi robin, Auto Parts - Bracket- would be classified as both material made (metal) and as named item (bracket for auto part) in the HS classification.

      Hi Paul, there are a number of options for a qualified individual to become a compliance officer through specialized training whether it be with Governmental Agencies or with a non-government organization such as a customs broker or an importer. There are numerous colleges in Canada and the U.S. that offer formalized training in the field of customs administration and compliance. Loyalist College, Sanford Fleming and Wilfrid Laurier to name a few. We hope this helps!

    how do you classify commodity code for assembled items? say commodity code is 1234 for a usb cable and 5678 for a plug sold together as an assembled item.

    • @coleinternational266
      @coleinternational266 3 роки тому

      Hi there, classification of an assembled item depends on what the assembled item becomes. Some assembled items will become a completely different product from the unassembled parts and therefore have a new tariff classification. Sometimes assembled items stay the same classification as one of the unassembled parts. It also depends on whether the goods were actually physically assembled, or just packaged into a kit. If it was just packaged as a kit, and the goods are sold at retail as the kit, then it depends on what the main characteristic of the kit is. In the example below, if a usb cable is physically attached with a plug, this is more likely to be classified as the usb cable - since the tariff classification for cables allow those fitted with connectors. Each situation will have its own unique classification depending on the individual parts and the finished assembled product and how much transformation has taken place.
