It's my understanding that the first "Two State Solution" was put in place by Winston Churchill in 1922. It was originally intended that Israel should receive both Israel and what is now Jordan as well. This is shown in the Mandate for Palestine (1920) and in the Feisal-Weismann Agreement of 1919. As Israel was to receive this entire territory, the Arab nations and the Arab League were to receive all the other territories, which were and are much more extensive, of what was formally part of the Ottoman Empire. The Palestinians were given Jordan, which is two-thirds of the original Mandate and twice the size of Israel. There was a time not long ago when Jordanians and Palestinians were considered to be the same people and the terms could be used synonymously. Today two-thirds of the people in Jordan are Palestinians. Why do so few history sites and documentaries of the region fail to mention this and bring to light that there is already a Two State Solution in place?

I had the pleasure of hearing Chazzan Preis when he visited his son Robert at his home in Wavecreast in New York. Chazzan Preis was a wonderful example of the zugger type of davening. He was a marvelous baal nusach who radiated great warmth and feeling.

I have just watched and listened to the recording of this event and it brought back many memories. My family were members of the Willesden Synagogue during the time that Rev. Faigenblum was the chazan. His voice was mesmerising and I can still clearly record his singing Unetane Tokef. My parents-in-law were active members of Dollis Hill shool and I met the kindly Rev Taylor on many occasions. Indeed he conducted my wedding ceremony, albeit at Heathfield Park!
