What did you do to mount on transom and what prop and set up do u have. Ive been thinking about getting one of these amazon mud skippers since my outboard took a crap. Thanks for any info!
@@bobbyboothang9275 My kit came with a transum mount like this one. Just clamped it on. ua-cam.com/video/eVjSyrc6P1U/v-deo.htmlsi=4kMbO4T4p9FpT003
@@bobbyboothang9275 if you have the inboard mount, you might try something like this. ua-cam.com/video/BOqykT3kadw/v-deo.htmlsi=BFTYcle4Hf-hFb-F
@@bobbyboothang9275 I used the three blade prop that came with the kit. I bought an anti ventilation plate from Mud-Skipper. It works well.
@@bobbyboothang9275 I also tapped two blade props following this method. There are other people with vids testing different prop sizes. A 212cc engine should handle a 6.5-7.5" standard prop, 6.5 weedless, or 6.6-7" hurricane on a light boat. ua-cam.com/video/IBtS1STT_lQ/v-deo.htmlsi=NdfJiz_9DmsXdmpO
Thanks for the info @brentsevereid9180 all I can find is the inboard H style mount kit but I think I'll buy it and weld some C clamps as I've heard from others on UA-cam. Definitely will try out different props and the plate as well
How do you like the twister cam? Can you tell a noticable power difference? Looking to put one in my gx390 / mud motor. I wanted a cam I can use with stock springs bc I don't plan on running over 5200rpm
I can't really make a good comparison because I haven't run other cams, and of course it doesn't really compare to the stock governed cam. I haven't had a lot of time to test it. I ran it a few hours last year and then it began to loose power at the very top end of the RPMs. I installed heavy valve springs, but under 50 lbs like recommend. I need to check if I wore down the cam lobes, bent a push rod, or if it just needs the valve lash readjusted. I think I might go back to the stock springs. Should be good weather to get out this month so I can test it once I check the lobes and push rods. There is one thing you should know. I bought three twister cams from two vendors. Two of the cams have a bad compression release grind/setting. It keep the exhaust valve open too long, poor compression, and will not start. The two need to be ground down to let the exhaust valve close sooner. Lucky I have a good cam so I know about how much to grind off now.
@@brentsevereid9180 damn. Maybe I'll just leave it as a stage 1 and just eventually swap over to a Duramax 500cc. I definitely want something fairly reliable
@@donduck6195did you notice a difference with stock and stage 1?
@@jason8984 huge difference. Pretty noticeable power difference, but the higher RPMs is what gives you more speed. Red beards garage on UA-cam actually has a small engine Dyno that he uses to test every little performance modification to see the power difference. A stage 1 generally gives 25%-30% more power. A 6.5hp goes up to about 8.5hp. probably similar results with the 13hp bumping up to 16-17hp.
Did you ever figure out the cause? Having the same issue right now.
😅Yes, I had intake manifold gasket on wrong 😅 It restricted about 1/4 of intake.

Driving on frozen lakes.
What is that used for mainly?
Is that a swamp runner medium kit?
Yes it's an SPS medium kit, but I use a 100" CKS speed shaft and a SPS performance prop, not the regular props. The kits only include the standard props.
@@brentsevereid9180 10-4 thank you, have you took the performance prop in weeds yet?
@@lexipate4010 I have, but wouldn't recommend it. It's not the prop per se, it is the trim tab a have on the skeg. It is a weed magnet. If going thru weeds (not grasses) at WOT the skeg cuts through them. You cannot idle through them. When I idle through weeds and grasses, like when I'm duck hunting, I change to the Swamp Runner shaft with a 8 half inch wheeless prop. The shape of the skeg on the Swamp Runner shafts (wedge shape) is much better than the CKS skeg (dagger shape) which tends to collect weeds.
@@brentsevereid9180 thank you for the valuable information my good man !
Interesting, I lived in Stoddard WI for awhile
Imagine how early you could get out fishing put a little flip over shack on it and drill your holes off the side of the boat
I've been thinking about making a Bimini style shelter. When it is down, it would fold forward and rest on the bow. I really like my grab bar. I think it might get in the way.
That’d be sick send an update of you do that, thinking about making my own version thanks for the idea
So you attach it to like a flat bottom boat and use it on a frozen lake?
Yep. Here's my souped-up 15 hp. photos.app.goo.gl/AQBmDvxkiVCHgtcq8 You can also see more of you join FB group "Scratcher Motors and Boats"
Neat setup Brent, looks like a good way to get up to the river and find the geese late season....
Exactly. I scoped a ton of geese right there from the frozen landing after deer season. Didn't have it running then, and couldn't get the boat out, and ice too thin to walk. Figured I had to cross private property to get there from the other side. Always next year. I started a FB group a couple days ago, Scratcher Motors and Boats, if you want to join.
@@brentsevereid9180 I'll definitely look into that I'm on a trip to the Caribbean right now so I'll join when I get back home
What'd you do to wake it up? That thing is running like a scalded dog!
Not much. Took out the throttle stop screw, replaced the stock air box and muffler with a K&N filter and torque tube header, and upped the main jet. It's got a high pitch, high rake prop. The real secret is just put it on an empty, long, skinny, flat bottom boat. I'm turning about 4100 RPMs.
elkskin...
