I'll be taking a look at digital cameras past and present. We'll explore how forgotten cameras can bring a spark of creativity and joy to us long after their initial release. It's not about the numbers or the specs (though we might geek out on that a little bit too), it's about each cameras' unique constraints and personality, and what they can do to inspire photos and techniques that are a bit outside of our comfort zone.
Fujifilm X-E1: Rangefinder-style mirrorless vs X-E2 / X-E3 / X-E4
Originally I was going to review the X-E1 and compare it to my X-E4. But I did some searching and saw that nobody else on UA-cam had done an in hand comparison with all four generations. So I picked up an X-E2 and an X-E3 and ended up reviewing all four cameras from the Fujifilm X-E series that have been released to date in 2022.
We will go in depth on each cameras' ergonomics and how they differ for practical shooting purposes. At the end of the video, you can find a summary on which X-E camera might make sense for you based on current used pricing and availability.

Pentax K-5 Review: The Perfect Beach DSLR (under $200!)
Переглядів 40 тис.2 роки тому
The Pentax K-5 was a flagship release in 2010. It retailed for $1,600 at the time. 12 years later in 2022 you can get it for about a tenth of that. For under $200, you get a 16 megapixel APS-C sensor, a magnesium alloy body, and significant weather sealing that takes great pictures. Pair it with the inexpensive SMC DA 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 DC WR for the ultimate travel DSLR kit that you can take t...
Surprising why Pentax kept doing DSLR and not mirrorless. 😮
I have an embarrassingly large collection of Pentax DSLRs. I love them all, and can't part with any of them.
Mpb has xe4 on the used market. Would you recommend used as I agree with you about really liking that camera. Thanks for the breakdown. It’s helpful as I’m looking for a camera. Just a note this would be my only camera.
Thank you, well done and I agree with your X-E4 vote! And you show also some nice photos, so well done too!
I have a K-1 and a K-3. However, for B&W, I retain a pair of K-5 bodies, both with their sensitivity adjusted to give ISO settings of ISO 80/100/125/160. In addition to this I've optimised their black and white settings using the menu parameters. One body normally mounts a 40mm f2.8, while the other usually carries a 70mm f2.4. They produce brilliant informal black and white portraits in combination with the K-5.
XE1 is the best camera EVER ❤
This video help me a lot !!! Thinking of buy XE3 at first , but after watching this video ,I feel the look of XE3 not good as others camera in this series
Quality content, you should make more video's!
I love my X-E3! Also love my XT-1, X-T3 and X100V too.
Good video but it should be illegal to use the incoming message notification sound 😅
Had the kx but it broke while I moved into my new apartment. So I'm looking for a K5 now
I basically never comment on You Tube, but am thinking about purchasing an X-E camera and having watched a bunch of different videos, this was the best. To the point, clear and super helpful. Thank you.
When I went from film to digital i started off with a Pentax istDL, then onto the K200D and finally the K5ii which i have had since 2013, I love it, very natural film like colours. I treated myself to an expensive Nikon DSLR a couple of years ago but photos from that in bright sunlight are very contrasty and have deep shadows, it works better in overcast and low light but my Pentax handles bright sunlight so much better. I'll never get rid of my Pentax K5ii.....in fact i'm on my second body. 16MP is more than enough anyway, and Pentax cameras have great weather sealing, i take it on long walks in all weathers and it's never let me down.
Nikon with contrasty and bright colors, it's the Ken Rockwell special 😊
But does xe2 have ability to put second screen/external monitor tho?
Excellent overview! I was toying with getting a used XE-1! Thanks much.
I have watched this video probably about 20 times. This is my favorite line of Fuji Cameras. You should definitely make more videos.
Very well made video!
I would suggest the DA 40mm Limited as well, that lens is so thin if basically makes up for the longer register/flange distance of the DSLR relative to mirrorless. You can get cheap mirrorless cameras as well BUT if they have the build/handling of the K-5 they are probably quite old and likely have poor EVF's and Autofocus, things which have improved massively in the last decade were as DSLRs were pretty mature with the K-5 came out.
Hahahaha, he forgot the X E2s😅😅😅
9:00
@ hahaha, he didn‘t forgot the X E2s 🤣🤣🤣
Need more reviews from this guy. Great videos! I have a K01 and K5iis and love them equally
Need more reviews from this guy. Great videos!
I got a K-5 with the 18-135mm off ebay from a Japanese dealer for no more than what you gave. What a deal for what looked to be never used in box and manual DSLR. Camera phones have just killed the SLR market.
Thank you! I was afraid the X-E3 would be too old but this video has be looking for one now! I want a 4 but its toooooo expensive
Really helpful overview, thank you!
long time pentax shooter, 1stDL/k10/k20/k5/k5iis/k3. hold a white biz card under the popup flash to bounce it off a ceiling and you wont get the lens shadow. in a pinch.
Pentax hasalsi full frame and medium format too.,,
beginner here. can someone recommend me, which camera i should buy? xe2 or xe3? 😢
you need to try k1 / k1 ii, the medium format cameras in a full frame body, the images are that good.
Great video
I use a Nikon D800e with a range of their older manual and auto lenses. It's a lump that produces stunning landscape and portrait images. Recent health issues forced me into leaving it at home, so picked up my partners Fuji X30 and I've been blown away by the quality of the SOOC jpeg images the little pocket friendly camera produces. Now I'm here considering one of these bodies. Very helpful video, thanks.
Thank you for the video - helped me decide on an X-E3 as my secondary body. I go to music festivals and they've gotten really strict about "no pro equipment and no big zooms", so unfortunately my X-T4 is right out. Taking pictures of the light show is a big part of the fun for me, and I want something better than the smartphone, especially for low light. The X-E3 with a pancake prime or their little 15-45 zoom for wide stage shots is such a great little package. And especially in silver, you can get it through security into telling them it's a point and shoot 😂
Excellently made video and a real fun to watch.
I need a review of those beautiful Nikon cameras you see in the backgound ... Nikon Classics + Love !
I am amazed that my trusty XE-2 is still the best one for me in the series. Bought it pretty much when it was released 10 years ago. Worth every penny those jpegs come out so good!
Removing the built-in flash from the XE3 and XE4 is a big mistake in my opinion...thanks for the wonderful stuff...
Love this video and your example shots. Really great and clarifying content.
Excellent, excellent video! Thank you! Just makes the decision making process more difficult… :-) Was thinking of the XE3, but perhaps the XE2 is the better choice for me…
Fantastic review 👍🏽
The Tamron lenses are also really nice.
Thank you for sharing your enthusiasm :) don't forget the whole range of "M" and A lenses, for example, SMC 28mm f2.8 M, SMC Pentax 50mm f1.7 (M or A), 135mm f3.5 M, Ricoh, XR 50mm f2, and all M42 lenses! I use next to the Tomioka, the SMC 35mm f3.5 m42 with magnificent sharpness! I used the CZJ a lot with this camera, and Russian optics ...
"you can get the xe3 for $500 used" lol😂 what planet are you living on buddy? These are all well over a grand these days.
Really helpful video...thanks so much!
Looks like prices have gone up by 100% or more in the last year. A decent E1 is now about 500$ and an E4 is about 1,200$... :(
... which makes my recent purchase of a (new) X T5 at 1.500$ almost a give-away
Xe4 is a beauty
Spank you very much.
i have had my k5 for 12 years and it still works perfectly. amazing camera 💗
there is a significant amount of professional bias against Pentax.. like it's some sort of gear for tourists.. however.. as a professional who has shot with everything from 4x5 film gear to flagship Nikon, Canon and many others.. and I find that the K5 is one of the most impressive camera overall.. because it's so good in so many areas.. from functionality to ergonomics.. it becomes and extension of self.. I also shoot with a D700 Nikon and a gaggle of pro nikon lenses.. and you would think the full frame 13 stop dynamic range 14bit raw chunky beast would have a serious edge on the K5.. It does have an edge, afterall it's a full frame but in any reasonable lighting the K5 can compete.. just not in really dim environments... in fact.. people yack about Canon color science, but you may have noticed how good the pentax images look right out of camera? I had to do more tweaking out of Canon D80s.. my D700 may have an edge due to the massive sensor and high bit depth but the K5 dynamic range curve is impressive and competes with the Sony A7 series easily.. If I want fast, sleek.. and minimal post work required.. I grab the K5.. not to mention that some of the pentax vintage lenses are the absolute best bang for buck since nobody seems to know the old SMC Pentax K, A, M, FA are littered with incredible lenses that people sell for 10 bucks at garage sales.. it's just really fun... yet incredibly competent. bought my first pentax in 84, a Super Program.. been my fave ever since.
You mention that the base iso is 100, but you can get it as low as 80 !
What is the difference between pentax k5 to k20D?
Hi can you check pentax K5 and k20D if the two has the same video recording save? Thank you
